Maybeboard

This deck is designed to outlast opponents, winning through attrition based strategies and ruthless domination. Resource generation is essential for this midrange deck to compete effectively and it is essential to quickly establish a field state. Using the many mana rocks Rakdos Keyrune, Mind Stone, Darksteel Ingot, Thran Dynamo, Gilded Lotus, and ofcourse Sol Ring, I hopefully can begin ramping early. Additional generation is provided through the brilliance of Liliana of the Dark Realms, Crypt Ghast, Burnished Hart, and Solemn Simulacrum. Card Draw is pivotal and, considering the self-deprivation of black card draw, the deck creates a few specific ways to continuously restock the hand. At the peak of the hierarchy we have the prime Phyrexian Arena and its little cousin Underworld Connections. Mind's Eye is a bit expensive but usually is affordable considering the decks focus on resource acquisition. skull clamp is an amazing piece of synergy, capitalizing on all the 1/1 tokens generated by Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder and Abhorrent Overlord. Ofcourse Reassembling Skeleton works here as well.

The creatures are geared towards further generating card advantage and synergizing with each other. Mikaeus, the Unhallowed ensures that sacrificed or dying creatures reenter the battlefield, triggering their abilities once more. They are resilient threats. Feldon of the Third Path and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker have similar roles in this structure and are able to instantaneously interact with the opponent. Whether I create another Wurmcoil Engine or quickly conjure a Sepulchral Primordial, any choice the opponent wants to make should be difficult and taxing. Puppeteer Clique is a variable joker card which also interacts very well with Feldon and Kiki-jiki. Here I may casually summon your Terastodon or Balefire Dragon and beat you over the head with it.

In regards to the commander, Lyzolda the bloodwitch is an uncommon pick. Even all my friends laughed when I chose the humble one-dollar card. However, she provides black red midrange decks with an incredible avenue the sacrifice outlet. She lets me recycle tokens and other creatures about to die for either damage or card draw. If I have a Butcher of Malakir, Grave Pact, or Dictate of Erebos, on the field, no singular threat of my opponents will be able to manage. If for any reason the field should fall out of my hands, Damnation, Blasphemous Act, Living Death, Black Sun's Zenith or Jokulhaups will prove their worth. There is a Champion's Helm in here primarily to protect Lyzolda, though, with many legends in the deck, the helm will be able to guard other creatures as well. Lightning Grieves also shields the Blood witch, though the boots are more used for haste when necessary to abruptly break through enemy lines. Anger and Flamekin Village also serve this purpose. The instants in this deck are all relatively inexpensive and allow me to keep mana open for the commanders ability. I have used Reverberate frequently to copy Explosive Vegetation or Debt to the Deathless. Unexpected copies like these can be devastating if the opponent fails to outmaneuver these sudden hurdles to his or her plans. Past in Flames is phenomenal and will often be used to finish a game in its last stages. The ability to recast Living Death, Exsanguinate , or other debilitating cards has often turned the game around. I have used a flash-backed Act of Aggression to steal a Blight Steel Colossus and claim victory.

In conclusion, all I can say is that the deck is very fun to play. I enjoy playing with this unorthodox commander and the deck comes with a huge opportunity for strategic decisions. Immensely dynamic, no game is repetitive and it is always a delight to pilot.
