I didn't realize you'd already answered. In my own build I go for Polukranos, World Eater as my main beater, he does a good job stabilizing, he can come down turn 3. If you're not into giant hydras, then you'll probably be looking for the same kinds of thing Sir Mix-A-Lot is, though you already have quite a bit of that... I really don't know, if you want something to go aggressive, I'd say you want Fleecemane Lion , apart from that, if you want to go late, Elspeth, Sun's Champion is probably the best thing you can do, Arbor Colossus is a strong card I'm not sure you can cast, but at 2 mana I don't see much you want to cast in these colours

More Courser of Kruphix , more Brimaz, King of Oreskos , possibly Underworld Coinsmith but that might require a heavier commitment to enchantments than you will want

@Fibbe Actually i've never considered Polu in here.

He can definitely be a finisher that's for sure.

I think i'd use him over Elspeth at the moment because I want to try and make a "superfriends" brew (ab)using her.

@Fibbe & Tingettley

What do you guys think of it now.

More mid range, More of a tempo control to it with Planeswalker utility.

My first reaction to the deck is that you have too many cards that take life away from you and not enough life boost to offset it. there are 21 cards in the deck that can potentially deal damage to you.Thoughtseize , Read the Bones , Abzan Charm , Windswept Heath , Mana Confluence , Llanowar Wastes . Especially in a three colored deck you are going to be using Mana Confluence A LOT! it's a really fine balance between loosing life to get what you need and having enough life gain to offset it. I would suggest running some Temple of Malady , Temple of Silence and Temple of Plenty . Sure they come into play tapped but they can help you sift through the deck to get what you need and they aren't going to take life away. The only reason I say this is because I am running 12 pieces of removal so If someone keeps your planeswalkers off the field they will have the game every time. and for you to get anything out will probably cost you a hefty chunk of your life total. Keep in mind I am saying this only having play tested it once but when I did I was down to 14 life by turn four which is when ALL the big boys come out to play.

I play tested a second time and again getting started I took my life total down to almost half by turn 5 but as I got out Courser of Kruphix (I got three out by turn 7) the life total began to balance out. I am just afraid that depending on the deck you are going up against you may put yourself too far behind to catch up. Hope this helps!

Aww.. no Kin-Tree Invocation ? :((

Other than that, I still think that 20 lands is to low. I would drop a charm and a RtB for 2 more land. Also since you went superfriends with it, I'm pleasantly surprised that you didn't attempt to put in a Garruk, Apex Predator ...lol.

Caligula says... #9

Tingettley Yeah no Kin-Tree Invocation =(

There's gotta be a better spot for it to be abused properly.

And I considered Garruk, But he's a pretty steep cast at 5[B][G]

@pbaxter1 I know the mana base can be a little painful but I need to balance it out to deal with Aggro. Rabble red is going to be a major issue in the format and lands that come in tapped can make all the difference.

Still working at it though.

Everyone is so hesitant to play Garruk, Apex Predator but I've played him for 3-4 weeks now and almost everytime he hits the board he wins. With caryatids and some good draws he always comes out right on time. I'd say to give him a shot :)

I'm not sure if Archangel of Thune is legal in standard, but if it is it would be a good addition to this deck. It has life link (which would help balance out your life total). It states that when ever you gain life you put a +1/+1 counter on all your creatures. I was watching the Pro Tour and the winner used it in combination with Nyx-Fleece Ram . So first you are gaining life because of the ram's ability, than you can start swinging with them.

-1 Swamp +1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth Just so those fetch lands and Mana Confluence don't do any unnecessary damage.

We do have fairly similar decks. What's your reason for playing Reaper?

BlackyMTG says... #17

I like Ajani, Mentor of Heroes better than Ajani Steadfast In this case.

September 19, 2014 12:58 p.m.

Caligula says... #18

Kiora_Fan-01. Ajani, Mentor of Heroes is great for a more creature focused deck. I went with Ajani Steadfast because he can help the board with lifegain as well as help the other planeswalkers with his -2 ability. Which means getting of your planeswalker abilities faster hence why I go with him ;)

September 19, 2014 1:09 p.m.

BlackyMTG says... #19

But Ajani Steadfast is only good when you have other PW's as Ajani, Mentor of Heroes can help you dig for them and pump your guys! You could also play both. I mean you have 15 creatures.

Pretty sweet deck dude! +1. Here is something I came up with for the new standard, could use some input on it. Plus you can test it out against yours for your aggro comment. Goblins Are Like Snowflakes

Land count seems a bit low, since the curve ends in Elspeth and Garruk; i'd easily go to 25; this opens up slots for additional Heaths (and additional Basics) that allow Courser-Based Library Manipulation. Something that supports a lot of untapped black for turn 1 Thoughtseize / Despise, and a lot of Painless Green for the Plethora of green spells. Thanks to Courser and Urborg, Fetches can count as painless.

Lands: 25

2x Mana Confluence

4x Windswept Heath

4x Forest

2x Plains

3x Swamp

1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

4x Sandsteppe Cidatel

2x Caves of Koilos

3x Llanowar Wastes

This mana base allows 11 untapped black sources, with 16 Green (12 painless) to guarantee early coursers.

Since your deck doesn't run Elvish mystic, you can afford to run a couple temples, a mana base with Temple of Plenty might look like this:

Lands: 25

3x Temple of Plenty

3x Windswept Heath

3x Forest

2x Plains

1x Mana Confluence

1x Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

4x Llanowar Wastes

3x Caves of Koilos

3x Sandsteppe Citadel

2x Swamp

This mana base has 2 additional ETB-tapped lands, but it still has the 11 untapped (albeit mostly painful) black sources, and 17 green sources so you can hit double green with ease.
