So I know rotation is still some ways off but I've barely been playing since Khans. So I thought I'd get back into it and play a deck that doesn't use any cards that will rotate out in October, get used to the Khans cards since I will be using them for a while.
Without further ado:
Den Protector brings back cards I may have used or milled through Gather the Pack. Combos nicely with Deathmist Raptor
Siege Rhino the big hitter, life gain for me, burn for my opponent 4/5 trampler. What's not to love?
Dragonlord Dromoka The big daddy. Get this bad boy online it's going to make my turns alot easier since my opponent won't be able to counter any of my actions during my turn
Tasigur, the Golden Fang allows me to put cards into the graveyard, important for Den Protector and thins my deck out. Easy to summon with delve and can bring cards back with his ability.
Deathmist Raptor combined with Dromoka's Command for target creature fights another means I can charge it into things I don't like the look of and kill it with deathtouch.
Hidden Dragonslayer primarily in for a trigger for Deathmist Raptor but the destruction ability is useful in the mirror match. Can always leave face down as a 2/2 until needed.
Nissa, Vastwood Seer
gives the deck some much needed land thinning with the loss of Courser of Kruphix relatively easy to get online as a planeswalker for that amazing +1 ability
Sorin, Solemn Visitor Lifelink and +1/+0 for a turn? what's not to love? Good against the aggro decks, can generate a vampire token for me too.
Abzan Charm add counters to Den Protector making her unblockable (dependent on opponents creatures on board) Draw power or additional removal. I <3 removal.
Dromoka's Command more counters for Den Protector enchantment hate if needed, make my creature fight my opponents or prevent damage a burn spell may deal. Better yet I can pick 2 and it's at instant speed for a GW! Love this card.
Gather the Pack ordinarily this would be Satyr Wayfinder in this slot but alas he will be no more in October. This card does similar but for creatures. I'm unsure about this occupying mainboard and would be tempted to put Valorous Stance in it's place but while I'm testing I thought I would give it a chance.
Ultimate Price even more removal!! to deal with pesky mono-coloured creatures freeing up my other removal for different things.
Tragic Arrogance I know there are better boardwipes but this card intrigues me. I'm hoping to use it against creatures primarily.
Land base was built taking side board into consideration. Of the cards not mentioned above:
Arashin Cleric comes in for the aggro matchups.
Hangarback Walker because it's Hangarback Walker in the sideboard because I don't want too many high mana cost cards in my deck. Comes in if my opponent has some dragon hate cards or again for aggro as it can make lots of blockers if it dies
Fate Forgotten for any decks I run into that might be using Hangarback Walker
