This is the deck I've been piloting for the last 3 months. Notice that there is NOTHING from Theros block. Even with that much of a handicap, I've swept the last 4 straight FNM's. I've played grixis control, RDW, red aggro, sulti, abzan midrange, abzan control (these games could go either way, I got lucky), Mardu warriors, Mardu dragons, B/R Dragons, W/G scales, and Sphinx's Tutelage. Not all of these games were easy, admittedly some of them I had no business winning. The one thing all the opposing decks did have in common though was that they ran Theros block cards.
As you can imagine, this puts me in a peculiar situation...I have a deck that seems to win just fine as is and it is not going to lose any cards at rotation. Now I'm racking my brain to see where I can improve this list. As of now, I am second guessing the collected companies and most of my sideboard. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful!
UPDATE - 9/22/15 - Thanks Reddit!
-2x Collected Company
-2x Avatar of the Resolute - Moved to sideboard
-2x sorin - Moved to sideboard
+2x Forest
+4x Siege Rhino - Moved from sideboard
UPDATE - 9/23/15 - Change @ Wednesday Tournament
-1x Siege Rhino
-1x Forest
+2x Den Protector
This enables turn 5 kill! Here is how it goes. Turn 1 Land + Hardened Scales. Turn 2 Land + Hardened Scales use free land for whatever. Turn 3 play Den Protector face down. Turn 4 Land then cast
Feat of Resistance
on morphed Den Protector giving it 3 counters. Flip Den Protector and bring back the
Feat of Resistance
and adding 3 more counters. Swing for unblockable 8. Turn 5 cast either Dromoka's Command or
Feat of Resistance
on Den Protector adding 3 more counters then cast another one of those spells on Den Protector adding another 3. Swing for unblockable 14. Sounds janky but I managed it twice in tournament...much to the surprise of my opponent!
UPDATE - 9/28/15
Switched up the mana base a little to include shambling vents and the new Canopy Vista
-3x
Nantuko Husk
+2x Drana, Liberator of Malakir
+1x Den Protector
So far in playtesting I've found these changes to not only make my deck a little faster, but adds 2 more win-cons. Adding counters to a shambling vents is just mean...and can survive most board wipes!
