I would also say remove the Diabolic Tutor for Demonic Tutor . Demonic Tutor is the best tutor in the game, followed by Vampiric Tutor , then Liliana Vess .

Other than that, looks like great fun and if I had the cards, I would run this in my lgs regularly.

This deck is awesome! One good card to add could possibly be Bloodghast as a sort of later game attacker if you cant create any of the combos you need to win. You have no shortage of land so you could make good use of the landfall ability.

I'd take out thespian's stage because the only land worth copying is cabal coffers (which you should also have more than 1)

But yeah dark depths+Hexmage is meannn, I've used that combo for a while :) +1

Thanks Guys!

@slagathor3 as MartialArt mentioned, Thespian's Stage is meant to copy Dark Depths . After the M14 rules are released it can copy the legendary land and will have no counters on it. Then the original Dark Depths will be removed from play and the copy can be sacrificed in the same turn it was played.

Seeing as you have a low creature count and could potentially get overrun, I would suggest running a few Damnation or Mutilate to deal with swarms.

Deck looks awesome man. Really enjoying the abuse of that Dark Depths. How's the consistency?

Board wipes are probably a good idea.
And the consistency is actually pretty good with the amount of tutors in this deck

Awesome deck, only thing I'd think of adding is a way to keep the board clear with Damnation , or, something like Rogue's Passage or splash green for Rancor so damage always goes through with Marit Lage.

Yeah... I'm a huge fan of Dark Depths and Vampire Hexmage T2, but I know nothing of any formats outside of EDH. Sorry. +1 for combos though!

Since you asked, I will look at it when I have some time later today, since I'm on my phone right now.

I would say -2 Vampiric Link and +2 Go for the Throat or some other kill spell. Maybe Damnation even. I understand link can be used to neutralize an enemy creature but it's just silly and ineffective.

maybe instead of Liliana Vess add a Liliana of the Dark Realms ? her ultimate is amazing for Black mana... you get an emblem making swamps worth 4B instead of 1! which for this deck is a must.

Big creatures are fun. You might try some Rite of Consumption . This deck might have a hard time with dealing with something like Will-o'-the-Wisp .

Shouldn't the game plan read more like this?

It's fewer cards than a Dark Ritual .

Honestly can't put much insight into this, I'm strictly a standard and commander player, sorry.

Maybe splash green for Crop Rotation . It could help get out Dark Depths . Nice deck though, +1.

Seeing that the only real purpose and win-con, is to pull the combo off, I think going up to a 4th Dark Depths would help you. If you don't get that combo off STRAIGHT away, then the risks of you losing to a Cyclonic Rift or Unsummon .vastly increases.

Otherwise a fun looking deck. Also nice with the anti-PW utility of the hexmage.

Cyrrus you asked for my opinion of this deck, and I can happily say it's a good deck that you've already tuned to a decent degree.

It's pretty much, an updated version of the older Dark Depths decks that were so popular before they banned key cards, and from the looks of it should be fun to play :)

It really doesn't need much tinkering with to improve it any more, but being a casual deck you've so many options open to you if you want to pick more cards to use.

If you had about a 100 bucks burning a hole in your wallet, adding 4x Blood Crypt and 4x Bloodstained Mire for Fling seems like a solid choice. With Fling you might be able to trim out some of the Slaughter Pact and Lightning Greaves for something else.

June 17, 2013 5:47 a.m.

MartialArt says... #20

I wouldn't swap out Slaughter Pact for fling. Fling is good with Marit Lage out but without there are too less creatures in this deck you want to sacrifice since they are the actual defense.

I would rather swap it out for Doom Blade , Snuff Out , or something similar.

This deck is definitely one I would not want to play against! This is just outright scary! +1

i do like, a lot to be honest

but i worry about the lack of information, even something like a Gitaxian Probe would provide information and card replacement. a good counter spell could really put a damper on the game plan, and with Force of Will lurking about.... it is something i would want to see coming.

Love this idea! Great deck. +1 for sure.

Of course I'm going to give this a +1, Vampires, Black, Dark Depths and Thespian's Stage Shenanigans and more.

Nice catch on the Thespian's Stage / Dark Depths combo.
