Sideboard! —Dec. 8, 2014
Added a sideboard! I have never had a sideboard for this deck, because I've never really felt I needed one. However, against creature-heavy aggro decks, I have been struggling a little bit. It is still capable of beating them IF I get the first play and stay ahead in tempo. However, just in case things get messy, I've created a sideboard with some inexpensive mass creature removal (Flames of the Firebrand, Impact Resonance, and Slagstorm) for lower-toughness aggro creatures (Impact Resonance can also be put on Isochron Scepter! This makes for a recurring board wipe against weenies!!!). I also added Ratchet Bomb, Steal Enchantment, and Disperse to deal with pesky enchantments (Glorious Anthem, Bitterblossom, Goblin Assault, or Eldrazi Conscription for example). Ratchet Bomb and Void Snare can deal with artifacts and planeswalkers as well if somehow they slip through the Counterspell cracks. While the sideboard slows down the deck and obviously shifts its strategy, it is ultimately better for it because it can deal with its weaknesses if necessary.
