What do you call a deck where you trip until you're delirious? Acid Trip, that's what. This is a deck that I've been trying to build for forever, but between some recent sets and my growth as a player over the last year, I think it finally has a chance to see the light of day.
The Acid
The cantrip suite that we're running here is the same as Zooicide's. All of these cards (can) cost no mana, so this deck is basically only 48 cards. What's more, they can also help drop your life total, enabling Death's Shadow exactly as in Zooicide.
The other purpose of this cantrip suite is that it has the potential to put three different card types in your graveyard for no mana. Add a single fetchland (which you'll probably draw, what with all the tripping), and you have Delirium, enabling Grim Flayer and Tarmogoyf.
The last benefit of this suite is that you get to see your opponent's cards, clueing you in to their deck game 1 and their hand regardless. Street Wraith lacks this ability, but in a pinch, he's a semi-evasive fatty in the long game.
The Junkies
Grim Flayer is our main man here. He helps you sort out some draws, gets Delirium/'Goyf online by himself if need be, and presents a 4/4 trampling body as early as turn 2.
Tarmogoyf. Do I actually have to say anything else? If you see a Llurghoyf around, you're probably tripping.
Death's Shadow maybe a macabre choice, given the theme of the deck, but with the cantrip suite it stands to get pretty big. He also dodges Bolt while you're bloodied, which is nice.
Speaking of blood, Bllodghast is a lovely little vampire spirit who isn't afraid of most removal. Notably weak to path, he's insanely resilient to everything else and makes for a good early game.
Liliana of the Veil is an honorary junky, and she helps provide for the collective trip with her plus. Besides that, she's Liliana of the frickin Veil. There's a reason that Jund runs her.
The Bad Trip
For the times when you're not having a good time, you can clear a path with the (probably overdone) removal suite. Lightning Bolt is Lightning Bolt is Lightning Bolt, and that's all I have to say on that. Terminate is awesome, and so is Abrupt Decay. Kolaghan's Command is flexible in the same way that the ocean is wet-- that is, it's really friggin awesome and 2-for-1's practically every time you use it. Smash a thing, kill a thing? Sure. Kill a thing, get back a critter that you discarded to Liliana? Sure. Shock the other guy and make them discard their top deck on the end of their drawstep? That's dirty and I like it. Shout out to Liliana's minus, which works wonders.
Budget Concerns
This is an expensive deck. Not only that, but I haven't even tested it yet. I don't want to spend that much money on it, and inbuilt the damn thing. That being said, here are some budget suggestions that should drop the price of the deck to a reasonable level.
Tarmogoyf -->
Moldgraf Scavenger
Gitaxian Probe --> Thought Scour
Liliana of the Veil --> Liliana, the Last Hope (sorry, that's the best I've got)
Abrupt Decay --> Putrefy (look, budget decks are cheaper for a reason)
Terminate --> Doom Blade
The land base is really important, but you might be able to get away with Jund Panorama and Evolving Wilds/Warped Landscape,or if you have a slightly bigger budget, you could use 2 Wooded Foothills and 4 Bloodstained Mire.
Sideboard:
Hooting Mandrills replaces Grim Flayer against Jund.
Ancient Grudge and Kolaghan's Command replace Terminate and Liliana of the Veil against Affinity.
Thoughtseize comes in against combo (what it replaces depends on the combo).
Kolaghan's Command and Liliana, the Last Hope come in against control (what they replace depends on the control deck).
Still looking for cards for those last 4 sideboard slots, and also maybe some t1 plays for the main deck.
