Yeah I hear you there. I think it was more for Blood Pod lists than anything. Those things are rough in large games, and the ability to clear the board more than once seemed debatable. Good point on all fronts though.

Had a conversation with no_body about his storm changes to his list yesterday. Seems a bit more convoluted than I prefer. Shimmer Zur still reigns supreme in my book!

Hmm, I can't say I agree with his conclusions on stax but I can see where he's coming from. I don't think under hard stax the Shimmer line is fantastic, but Necro + Aetherflux does a fantastic job drowning opponents in card advantage and Doomsday + Necro wins under very hard stax. Thanks for the support!

If you haven't seen it, I have this pretty long primer on shimmer myr: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rNK2kebMRsRlAfbahELVlw_hx2obCXsfF93mKpl3yPE/edit?usp=sharing

that'll eventually replace the current description.

Great primer! Really like the detail and such. This list is definitely the most formidable Zur list out there right now, as I tried the Isochron idea, but it wasn't nearly as sturdy and felt very win-more. You make a good point about Flash Hulk in the match up section, although I've found in my meta when CVT is played as well, the combination of decks really puts pressure on the hulk lines. I'm definitely thinking of Baral though, especially with those Blood Pod decks running rampant now.

This deck seems amazing! Unfortunately I'dont have the ressources to put that monster into paper...So is ist possible to build this on a budget? Slightly slower with more starting mana for example? Or more effects that lower the cost of artifacts? I'm not aiming for a super competitiv list.

Anyway the idea with shimmer myr is AMAZING!

@edraash it is definitely possible, what kind of budget are you working with? Do you happen to own any of the more expensive cards already?

@Bolsheviktory i do own most of the manabase (not the og duals), most tutorsi don't have the expensive cards like LED, Vault, Crypt, Candelabra, Moxen, Scroll Rack and the good counterspells

I was thinking about adding a few other cheap utility artifacts and a few cards that make those cheaper, aetherium sculptor comes to mind

@edraash it gets much harder to pull of the Shimmer lines without a good amount of mana positive artifacts. Etherium sculptor was in the deck before and can certainly be added for a budget build. I'd also say for a budget build you would need to add isochron scepter. It makes storm turns easier and offsets the lack of mana positive artifacts to some degree.

Would it be possible to get mana vault/chrome mox? They are somewhat cheap. There's plenty of cheap (price wise and mana wise) counter magic like dispel/mana leak/arcane denial/swan song/spell pierce that works just fine.

In a budget build you also want more fixing like Opt/sleight of hand in place of the more expensive cards.

If you haven't seen it already, I have this primer on shimmer things: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1rNK2kebMRsRlAfbahELVlw_hx2obCXsfF93mKpl3yPE/edit?usp=sharing that might give you some ideas.

When you have a rough draft of a deck and a $ budget for improvement I can try to help more

This is an awesome deck have been paying it for some time , but i have one question why include no nevermore?

October 16, 2017 3:33 a.m.

edraash says... #11

@Bolsheviktory

Vault and Chrome Mox are on my buylist

The counters are exactly the ones i use

Thx for the Link and tips i'll try my best to brew something

@daaf It's a fast combo deck, so we play no stax pieces. We have spot removal, wipes, counters and enchantment removal Zur can tutor, so ideally we end the game before a card like Nevermore is used to it's full effect.

So any changes you're thinking about? So far, I think it's a very well tuned machine.

Alexdagreat Time spiral is coming out, Opt is coming in, and I'm retesting Isochron scepter for the third time.

I usually don't tutor for high tide so I have very little reason for tutoring time spiral, it's a card I mostly don't want to see. Just having it in for recovery in some mid/late game situations is probably too conditional. It's also a sorcery and 6 CMC, so it does little to help Shimmer lines and hurts off ad naus.

Yeah that's a smart move. I did like No_Body's usage of Dark Confidant as a grinder in the late game. Scepter was doing some good work when I tried it again. I think I may make it an addition.

I still find Merchant Scroll to be helpful. How about yourself?

October 19, 2017 9:40 p.m.

Suasion says... #17

Absolutely still useful, it gets you quite a lot: Removal, counter, mystical, lim duls, ritual, draw

October 19, 2017 11:59 p.m.

Alexdagreat says... #18

What would you remove for Scepter? I was trying bringing the lands to 28 and it was working, but I'm curious as to your thoughts.

October 20, 2017 9:52 a.m.

Suasion says... #19

My test cut is gonna be orzhov signet

October 20, 2017 1:22 p.m.

Alexdagreat says... #20

So how's Scepter been working for you? Still thinking of including Opt?

October 23, 2017 5:29 p.m.

Suasion says... #21

@Alexdagreat

I haven't gotten much use out of scepter yet, Opt will come in soon. I played a few games in a meta where I should have swapped in Faerie Macabre and cyclonic rift so changes to the base list are still TBD.

How are you liking it?

October 25, 2017 12:48 a.m.

Alexdagreat says... #22

Still haven't gotten much out of it either. I'm on the fence about it currently, as I might swap in Opt for Scepter and maybe put some more removal in. I've been slotting in Cyclonic occasionally as well, and even Scavenger Grounds too. What cuts/swaps are you making?

October 25, 2017 9:14 a.m.

Alexdagreat says... #23

*thinking of making

October 25, 2017 9:15 a.m.

Suasion says... #24

Probably Orzhov signet and counterspell, you?

October 27, 2017 12:57 p.m.

Alexdagreat says... #25

Those are good ones. Orzhov still has a bit of use, as sometimes I find myself short of white. I was thinking counterspell and maybe a land, but I think you have good suggestions there.
