I was going to say, for Tainted, LED always felt dead to me. I was debating putting in Dispel over LED for more protection on the Tainted/Lab Man line. Seriously man, that deck plays more like Hulk in its compactness, and is so much more consistent with its kills. Seriously, we were saying that it's one of the two best right now.

I was debating the LED slot as a flex slot as well for something like Pongify or another removal piece. That new card Spellseeker seems pretty spicy as well, and part of me wants to MAYBE give Paradoxical Outcome another shot now.

Yeah, dispel is something I've wanted to bring in for a while now. Plus, it's more budget friendly!

Thanks, that's very high praise!

We likely don't want paradoxical or spellseeker, pongify seems like a fine addition.

Yeah, fair point, and the budget part does help! I find that this list protects itself extremely well, and a cheap counter that can stop Flash or the like is always good, and it helps protect Zur if someone tries Swords or such.

So no_body has been experimenting with reinserting a Doomsday line, and I'm waiting to see how his testing goes. Cutting LED has been good so far, and I'm almost thinking of axing High Tide, as it has been lackluster in several games. I was maybe thinking if I did that of putting in Perilous Research over Frantic Search. Just tossing ideas out there. Tainted Zur is so, so, so good.

Thanks, I think we went over the fringe DD lines. Our current lines to victory (naus, shimmer, notion wheel, lab man and demonic) are efficient enough to not need them.

Additionally, our backup routes (notion wheel and lab man) don't rely on life, so they work better after a greedy failed naus or shimmer line.

So LED for Dispel has been a real winner. Counterspell for Pongify has been a meta call. So far the Tainted build has been doing great. Any changes you're thinking of making?

None so far. Let me know if you think of any good ones!

Part of me almost wanted to remove Scepter, because with the efficiency of the new lines, it was feeling a little too cute. Sleight of Hand has been a consideration for a little more early game gas, as has a permanent spot for Pongify given Blood Pod in my meta. The deck has tied Hulk for most wins, and in some ways, the Tainted lines have made the win condition nearly as tight, so that’s something I want to capitalize on a little more.

How exactly does the Tainted line play out if i may ask?

Cast Lab Man (or keep in hand until execution), name a card in hand, exile your deck with Tainted, with Lab Man on the field, draw a card and win the game. Way more efficient than Doomsday IMO.

Oh thats how i thought it would work but someone in Discord told me Tainted can only draw one card for some reason.

Yeah, it plays through Stax really well, and is a way more compact win than Doomsday. So far Tainted Zur and Breakfast Hulk are tied for wins in my meta.

Hey so I'm stumbling across this deck looking at Storm EDH decks, and I have a quick question for you. Apologies if it has already been discussed/asked/brought up. Have you considered Sentinel Tower from Battlebond as another artifact Storm win condition? I haven't done the math to see if it is more or less efficient than the other options this deck has available, but I figure it's at least worth it to acknowledge it and see if it fits

June 14, 2018 11:25 a.m.

Actually, I just read it again and I feel like an idiot lol. It only triggers on instant and sorceries cast during your turn, so it is far more restrictive in when you can kill with it and how. Unlikely, but maybe it still fits. I can see how it wouldn't, though

Yeah its far worse than Fishbowl but has more value if you dont combo with it.

Overall not worth it in cEDH imho.

Btw i dont really get why you guys talk about the Tainted Pact version under the Doomsday version and why the Tainted one isnt the definitive version of the deck with the primer :D

June 14, 2018 1:29 p.m.

As a Sid Fishbowl pilot, I must say that after testing this deck, it's been a riot to play. Consistent turn 4 and turn 3 kills. +1 for the deck.

I've also heard there's a budget version of this somewhere. Can you point me to where on the Conglomerate it might be? Thanks.

Thanks!

What budget are you looking for? Storm is one of the hardest archetypes to do on a budget. Dan has a $750 ish list floating around that works pretty well, is that OK or are you looking for a lower budget?

The DD version is here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/1500-doomsday-zur-copy/ and would only need a few changes for shimmer. Shimmer, Aetherflux, scroll rack, quicken, jvp, hurkyl's, isochron

Hi! Bolsheviktory , what are your thoughts about Spellseeker?

Thank you!

@Alexdagreat getting there. Next up is judge FOW and a painful choice about the good art, but way too dark, Doomsday.

@gorkochile I think merchant scroll still does this job better, but it's a good budget replacement for some of the pricier cards. It gets counter magic, tide/dramatic for storm, brainstorm/gush for draw, hurkyl's/cyc rift for removal, and has other cool uses such as lim duls for fixing, frantic for looting under tide, etc. At worst it reads: UU1: find and cast mystical tutor, and can be quickened in a tight spot. 1 more mana for any <=2 cmc instant or sorcery seems like too high a cost

Alexdagreat says... #23

The judge FOW is a tough one to find these days. You're not transitioning to the Tainted version? Foil Doomsday is indeed way too dark, but the art is so damn amazing.

My playgroup has decided that Zur and Hulk are the boogeymen decks which need to die first, so the Demonic Consulation and Tainted lines have gotten me under some seriously targeted Stax recently.

July 11, 2018 9:27 p.m.

HighOnBuffs says... #25

I thought DC and Tainted play especially good under Stax? At least that why Wedge stopped running DD in his Kess list.
