Multiple orings is super dependent on your meta. If you see stax decks regularly you really will want extras.
Painful truths however is just okay. It costs 3 which feels meh, and requires 3 colored mana to be efficient. Which makes it a bit obnoxious to cast, especially on the combo turn when colored mana is at a premium.

I think you should change your decks name to Zur187 in honor of your CMC and the fact that the deck is deadly.

I've got a question without timetwister would it still be worht it to have notion thief in?
September 14, 2016 2:06 a.m.
@RandomMagicPlayer: You still get Windfall and Time Spiral, not to mention all the wheels and general draw effects your opponents happen to play that Thief can be flashed in for. Unless your meta is extremely lean on card draw, he's almost definitely worth it.

Esper combo players: im trying esper in competitive (duel) edh, and would really appreciate some insight from you badass experienced players. Would a top tier esper deck use a doomsday or ad naus combo? Considering the banlist, would an alternate combo be faster? Or with the banning of zur and oloro, would a pure control deck be the best route?

This deck would struggle in duel.
All of the fast mana is banned, and that would make comboing infinitely more difficult.

So if you played duel in the esper colors what would be your wincons?

Finally completed this deck, the only minor change i did was instead of Orzhov Signet im running Urn of Thoughts, trying it out...bc sometimes i hate it when i Timetwister with Thief, i have to exile all my cards when i discard when i have necro out... and second, it allows me to keep my cards with necro, the only pay off is the color fixing when ur trying to cast BB cards...So far i like it... What do u think about this, i know mana fixing is good but the only infinite hand i have... lol when it gets destroy tho...

Taking out rocks that produce colors seems wrong.
Max hand size increases have never been relevant for me. They are too slow for necropotence, since you need them out before you draw off necro. For all the other mass draw spells you should just win on the spot instead of passing the turn.
The real issue however is that it basically does nothing with necro cause you need it in play before you activate necro or its useless. Which makes it really obnoxious to use, and it doesnt produce colored mana.
September 21, 2016 2:30 p.m.
I very rarely actually fetch necropotence.
And when it is fetched I usually transition into a slower combo role since necro slows our kill down considerably and going all in can be instant death very easily.
Generally grabbing 5-10 cards a turn, which rarely results in me wanting more than 7 of the total cards available to me.

Hi there! I noticed a lot of decks playing at a very high level have a low land count than what I am accustomed to seeing. Your decks happens to be the lowest I have seen to date. My question is, how do you guys get away with it without getting screwed? I make use of a lot of the rocks you have here as well but I can never seem to make a deck work smoothly with so few lands.

Skuloth, am I understanding that you rarely fetch Necropotence with Zur and when you do you do not draw 15-25 cards? If true, what percentage of games do you follow this line of play?
September 21, 2016 10:24 p.m.
@Megalomania: It has a lot to do with the mana curve. Notice how the deck's average CMC is only 1.83. A full 31 nonland cards in the deck cost 1 mana or less to hard-cast, most of which are mana accelerators, tutors, or cantrips. The deck almost always has turn 1 plays, and many of them can lead into additional mana sources if needed.
September 21, 2016 10:28 p.m.
Narej is correct. The deck operates on so few lands because the curve is VERY low. The other reason I can get away with it is because Im aiming to end the game by turn 4 and I dont need to hit every land drop to do that. Between the draw power and artifact acceleration the deck is capable of fueling its mana needs very efficiently.
I honestly have no idea. I would say I go for necro in less than 25% of the games I play. And the majority of those games dont involve big activations of necro. Its simply too much of a risk. Wheels are incredibly popular in this format, and people will be sitting on answers for you since you telegraphed the win very hard. Ive found that activating necro to refuel vs win has been a better line overall.

Thanks. Any chance you could take a peek at my Leovold deck? Our decks have pretty similar mana curves. I'm trying to lose some lands but still keep the deck running as smoothly as yours.

Skuloth Hands down, this is the best tier 1 Competitive EDH deck, but I want to know what your opinion is on Leovold Doomsday. Do you think its better or worse? Do you think Leovold is a good Commander, in maybe just a different build and not Doomsday. I really would appreciate your opinion on this. Thank you in advance :)
October 3, 2016 1:21 p.m.
I think leovold will run into issues with over reliance on locking people out.
Resulting in getting shut out by their general getting killed, Combo decks going in under them, and midrange decks not caring about their hands being vaporized.
We'll see what happens.

Skuloth Thank you for thought through very wise advice, I shall keep with my Zur for now for doomsday, Might look at making a Leovold deck after I finish remaking my Arcum deck :)

Hey, it's Shane again. I wanted to know your opinion on Demonic Consultation in the Doomsday deck, because of two things. 1, with Lab Maniac on the board and a draw card that you can cast in your hand its an instant win. 2, post Doomsday you can do the same type of trick as long as you have the mana to pull it off. What do you think?

Could Painful Truths be worth a slot? I feel like you dont need multiple o-ring effects, and more card draw is rarely a bad thing.
