Really put fight worked for you? ummm why not prey upon ?

Pit Fight works in this deck as an instant speed combat removal trick. The main reason is that its an instant speed, allowing you to use some out of combat resources to mess with who and what is in the combat step. This deck is VERY good at that. Your Gyre Sages, if tapped and evolved, really don't do much but be very good forests, so they can be Pit Fighted into combat to eliminate an unblocked creature, or block a creature and then if they're going to have enough Toughness left, use Pit Fight to block two creatures, sometimes letting you 2-for-2 somebody's creatures. This gives the deck a little more Aggro resistance. I'm not main decking Pit Fight at the moment, but I've got it sided for some fun.
If anyone says "But Prey Upon is cheaper!" again, I'm going to smack them. Pit Fight is an entirely different card with an entirely different function.

Yeah Pit Fight is amazing due to its instant speed and is superior to Prey Upon

I personally would remove Forced Adaptation for Blessings of Nature since there is literally no draw power here other than upkeep draw.
February 27, 2013 11:01 a.m.
I'm thinking of this:
-2 Ooze Flux, -3 Forced Adaptation, -2 Biomancer
+3 Arbor Elf/Experiment One, +2 Rancor, +2 Garruk (Seems like it will do a ton of work in this deck)
Also Pit Fight at +2 in the Side Board... What do you guys think of that?

the biomancer is a must, I would even consider playing more. Just play increasing savagry on him and every creature comes with 7 +1+1 counters on the battefield.

most of the time you get slaughtered before you can start biomancer evolving
March 2, 2013 7:07 p.m.
that's what I was thinking its not all the time you can even get biomancer out and if he does you gotta protect him to get his full effect

I'm playing with a version of this deck and came across a thought...
supposing i swung a creature with Rapid Hybridization in hand, and he decided to block with his own creature (just one)... would a hybridization on his creature make my creature's hit go through?
Or to put it another way.. When i kill his declared blocker (giving him a 3/3 token) can he then block with that token? My thoughts are that he will not be able to since he has already declared his blockers for my swing.
Maybe its a silly question, but i just want to make sure i'm playing this card right!
P.S.
Awesome deck! Definitely +1

Noobplayer17 you are right. Once the blockers have been declared, you cannot change them. That means that if he declares a blocker and you destroy that creature and give him a ooze token, your creature is still blocked but does not take the damage of the other creature you destroyed. The Frog lizard token cannot block anymore since the blockers have already been declared.

Just making sure... Despite the username, I've actually been playing for a while and felt pretty confidant I had it right... Some guys I was playing against the other night were questioning it though

Predator Ooze and Rancor should be auto includes now. Especially since the ooze + Ulvenwald Tracker pretty much just wins the game on its own.

this is a good deck, however I was wondering if it is too slow to stand up against speedy decks?

Hello Madnote.
I stumbled on your deck while looking for help with my own deck. Our decks are very similar. Please check mine out: Un-undying Evolved and provide any help. After viewing your deck I already plan to add more Rapid Hybridization to my deck.
Anyways, I attended a local event last night and my deck did not fair to well. I went 1-2 and need help. I do not want to give up on this deck yet.
Also, your write-up was very well done.

So today I had 2x Gyre Sage
out, third was in my hand. Had the mana for Increasing Savagery
with 2 of the tokens on my sage. Put 5x Tokens on said Sage, tapped it to put the 10x tokens on the other sage which i then tapped (giving me 10G). I then played Master Biomancer
leaving me 7G (Using an Island also). I then used one more G (6g Left) to play Bioshift
moving the 10 tokens to the Biomancer. I then used 2G (4G left) to spawn my third Gyre Sage
, gaining 12 tokens. Tapped this for +12G (16G), With this i then spawned 8 1/1 (Plus the 12 from Biomancer, minus the one token for the spawning) Oozes with Ooze Flux
. In 1 turn using 4G and 1 Island I created 29G Mana, 8 x 12/12 Oozes and next turn I had 27G from tapping the Sages again, meaning a further 13 12/12 oozes.
Nice deck, me likey.

Have you thought about Progenitor Mimic ? I love this deck and I like Vorel of the Hull Clade but I find him a little situational. A lot of games are won for me with the undying effect which Vorel doesn't work well with, on the ther hand the only card Progenitor doesn't work well is Primordial Hydra .
ex. Progenitor Mimic onto Master Biomancer
The mimic spawns biomancer tokens that stack each turn so on the turn you play mimic all creatures come out with +6 on them, turn 2(after mimic drop) all creatures come with +14, turn 3 +30. All of that is for his original mana which Gyre Sage makes easy, whereas Vorel eats up your precious islands every turn.
ex. Progenitor Mimic onto Undying
Imagine a free Young Wolf or Strangleroot Geist , free blockers or kamikaze attackers every turn. Now, imagine a free Vorapede every turn. Yes... Yes we did go there.
Not to mention the explosive Evolve results you could get with either of these combos.

At first I did not care much for the Progenitor Mimic but the more I consider its potential, especially with the Master Biomancer , the more I want him. I'll try to find a place for him for sure.
