The Plot:
Angels can be a wondrous ally, but the
Land Tax
es are steep and hard for those that are not true believers. Religious artifacts known as
Pearl Medallion
s and
Sol Ring
s are carried by the faithful to call upon the Divine.
When the
Hour of Revelation
is upon us, it is far too late for the nonbelievers to turn their
Swords to Plowshares
and seek
Balance
before the
Final Judgement
is upon the land. Once the heretics have been
Rout
ed and the winds
Settle the Wreckage
, the faithful still standing can have a
Hallowed Burial
for their heroes as their souls feel the completion of the
Planar Cleansing
!
Deck concept/strategy:
The concept of the deck is to hit fast, hit hard and hit often. The early mana acceleration can either be used to play large threats soon (Baneslayer can easily hit the table Turn 2), or keep the board cleared until you can get a dominate presence in the air. Most of these angels have a power of at least 4, if not more, so you only need to land a few hits to take someone out fast! Given this fact, don't be afraid to wipe out your own angels (or other permanents!) if an opponent is getting a hard edge on you that you can demolish. You can rebuild your forces and continue on!
Possible swaps I am considering is removing the
Archangel of Tithes
to put in a
Resplendent Angel
, Maybe remove the
Angel of Jubilation
for some form of targeted removal like
Oblivion Ring
. Maybe a couple more lands to up the count in case I don't draw the mana acceleration immediately.
This deck was designed with multiplayer in mind, while attempting to keep as close to an Angel theme as possible. This deck has been thoroughly play tested and works real well as is in both duels and multiplayer, but I'm always looking for a means to make things run a little smoother.
With the right hand with Sol Rings and/or Urza's incubators, this deck can get Angels with a CMC of 6WW out on Turn two. That means things like Baneslayer can hit the table Turn 2, with Akroma or Avacyn hitting the battlefield on Turn 3. So you can aggressively slam people with Angels, or start board wiping until you can build a presence to slam people a couple of turns later.
Any comments and/or suggestions are always welcome!
