What's a life total? (Infect with a Plan B!)

Not necessarily more versatile, just different. The functions Simic Charm has are already filled by all the cards in the evasion, pump, and protection sections of my deck's cards description. Groundswell, Vines of Vastwood, and Distortion Strike all already serve the same purpose, and they do it for a lower price and with better effects. I've got Dawn Charm in there because it does things that the mainboard strategy can't do, like save my creature from a board wipe, stop an otherwise lethal alpha strike in its tracks, or save my face from that last lethal burn spell.

Could I suggest Muddle the Mixture? It gives a counter spell and if you don't need it a search your deck for any 2 drop. I run it in my mono-blue ensoul infect deck, it might too much blue for a deck with access to only 5 blue mana though.

to be fair, I don't see why you dont use both old Krosa and groundswell. I could see you moving numbers around to find some number of them in the main, and I kinda like a one of or two of become immense. I've read through a lot of this, and I do think one or two Immenses would be just a random blow out.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
@Clueless123 – I do like Muddle the Mixture; however, it is too slow and costly for this build. The transmute ability is sorcery speed, and it costs a hefty , more than the actual spell i would be casting! In addition, the only spells with CMC 2 i have in the mainboard are Blighted Agent and Ichorclaw Myr. As far as the counterspell option goes, you are right; my manabase cannot reliably support a cost. This is why i have considered other counterspell options, like Spell Pierce, Dispel, Mana Leak, Negate, and Remand. Thank you for taking the time to suggest it, though! I hope it works well in your build.
@Stephenburgin106 – I have numerous reasons for my deliberate exclusion of Might of Old Krosa in the deck description (under Suggestions > Declined) and in the comments. I won't be including it.
I have done extensive playtesting with Become Immense, and found that i can't reliably cast it. My build has very few cantrips, and i hardly ever have any more than three cards in my graveyard. It is an amazing spell, and works great in most infect builds; it just doesn't fit here, though.

And what if your opponent has Melira, Sylvok Outcast in his sideboard? Since you have no removal and your creatures all have infect (well, except for Noble Hierarch), you basically have no chance of winning a game with her on the board. Maybe add some Vapor Snag in the side, it would give you the time to deal the final blow!

@N4pht4 – Well, if i was staring down a Melira, Sylvok Outcast, then it would just mean i'd have to bring their life down to zero instead! ... Which would be a lot harder to do... which is a problem that creature removal would solve. You are absolutely correct.
I like your idea a lot!! I'm gonna find room for Vapor Snag in the sideboard. It is the perfect creature removal for this deck; it gets around indestructibility, death triggers, and means they just lost a turn. It deals with Tasigur, the Golden Fang, Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, Wurmcoil Engine, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Tarmogoyf, and anything else i need. Thank you very much :)

Vapor Snag is a no no. We mostly don't care about the opponent's life total. Even though it is uncommon that we want to bounce our own guy, when we do it we don't want to take damage. Unsummon?

@bromerta – Hmmmmmm... also a good point. I will playtest with both Vapor Snag and Unsummon and see whether that ping is really worth it.

Neither. You have Apostle's Blessing and you have Distortion Strike both grant unblock able. Why bother with unsummon. This is an infect deck - you're supposed to be winning it 2 to 3 turns. You literally should not be casting an unsummon type effect more than once or twice, and for that you're covered.

He has stated he wants a slower build. Simic Charm has Unsummon and Giant Growth also

I'm mostly considering bounce to use against reanimator's Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Amulet Bloom's Primeval Titan. Really, any creatures that i either scoop against or can't race. (Turn 2 8/6 double strike, vigilance, haste, trample is not raceable on the draw.) I go up against a lot of combo, and i'd like a security blanket just in case.
You have a good point about Simic Charm. I will take another look at it... but that extra is probably a dealbreaker.

It may be versatile, but that won't help much if i am not able to cast it! Its first two modes are functions already done by multiple other maindeck cards (like Vines of Vastwood), so i wouldn't need it for either its pump or protection; and most likely i would only need the Unsummon-like effect on my opponent's second turn, when i only have access to one mana.

well, thats no problem when you have shocks and fetches. imagine returning a Gurmag Angler to a persons hand.

you definitely have enough mana. Noble Hierarch also adds mana

ChiefBell, that is how you feel about it. This guy is looking to build his Infect in his way. He has no interest in more traditional, streamlined builds. So if we have anything to say it should be helping him to build what he wants to build.

Simic Charm is overcosted in every mode, but that is the point of modal spells. No matter how much mana you put into unsummon it will never be a lethal growth spell. It is all about flexibility

No I am stating a fact. Feel free to do whatever you want with your deck. It's yours after all. That doesn't change the fact that infect fails to do mid game well. Your creatures are vulnerable to both removal and blockers. The longer you take to win the higher chance there is that the opponent produces one of those. And the spells required to dodge removal and blockers take the place of pump spells so you become really, really slow.
If you want to play around with an infect build that is more controlled and less opening hand dependent that's fine. But there are many hurdles to overcome.

I play the more traditional version (he has let similar previous commenters know that). We aren't here to discuss what is better. We are here to help him build the deck he wants.
October 1, 2015 8:31 p.m.
Well at the moment it's just 3 or 4 cards removed from a normal infect deck anyway so there are few problems.

Simic Charm is more versatile than Dawn Charm.
