The birdie is there to clock people, nothing more. I figure with four 0/1 evolves, the rest of my crew had better deal damage. With a ring on it the tern can become a real threat.

Also the Void Stalker's ability isn't a mana ability; that would be something like Llanowar Elves . It just costs mana to activate.

you sure its not a mana ability? ive been told otherwise.

Positive--you can use the Bracers on a Moonveil Dragon , for example, so it gets +2/+0 for each R spent.

Mana ability is strictly an ability that adds mana to your mana pool--has nothing to do w/whether it costs mana to activate.

Maybe instead of Downsize you could use Sensory Deprivation

MinscAndBoo says... #7

That would protect me better, but idea with Downsize is I get to steal their creature and then attack them with it at full power :D

I'm loving the budget decks at the moment, I have my own one that I named Tesco Value (Budget! Needs Help) it unfortunately runs more like a sealed deck. However I am loving this deck!

Good budget ways to slow down decks are AEtherize and Hands of Binding . The latter especially if you are removing most of their creatures. I'm going to try and make this deck I recon :)

One of the judges discovered this in the game we had at sealed.

Needless to say I lost.

Hard.

Thanks! I think I'm gonna replace the Terns with Metropolis Sprite . It can chump block, and with a Ring of Evos Isle can essentially grow by two power per turn. I'm not a big fan of the art, but this deck needs all the power it can get :D

Hey, im a magic online player and have been having some pretty good success running this in a non competitive scene. I'm wandering what tweaks you would make, if any, to take this to the next level (in strength and budget). I was thinking a Tamiyo, the Moon Sage but what is your take on it?

What would you bring in and take out?

Thanks

@soupster Good question...youre probably on the right track with Tamiyo. I'm thinking the Illusionists Bracers and possibly Stolen Identity could go, and possibly the clone. A few Dissipate too, perhaps? I always do better once I side in the counters :D but they're not mainboard so I can pimp out the flavor/theme. Going up against the big boys they're probabl musts.

Protect / Serve might be worth a consideration.

Even though we have no idea what is going to happen in Theros, are there enough cards in M14 to make up for the cards that rotate out?

August 12, 2013 11:26 p.m.

MinscAndBoo says... #23

@swervin Good question! The Ring of Evos Isle is half of the deck's namesake an also a critical card. But maybe Warden of Evos Isle could come in, along with a bunch of flying creatures?

Zacoly says... #24

I can see this deck isn't currently post rotation so...

In place of Metropolis Sprite I would be using Either Clone or Cackling Counterpart !

What's better than stealing an awesome critter? MAKING MORE OF THEM!

This deck is begging for some card draw... I'd suggest Curiosity on a flyer/unblockable bearing your ring for protection.

Finally... I don't really see the point of Ghost Quarter in this deck... It's not very good at all since they can replace duel lands with a basic that still mostly fixes their mana issues... I'd suggest Mutavault (synergizes well with Beguiler of Wills ) and can be swung for 2 damage if their blockers are... gone

If not Mutavault then Haunted Fengraf for late game card advantage... at that point in the game you don't care what card you get so long as you have more ammo than they do. Or Cavern of Souls could have you almost covered by calling "wizard" and "Spirit"

Altogether a really fun looking deck!

+1 for making the imaginative possible!
