I originally built this deck with Quest for Ula's Temple's release in Worldwake. The idea was to take the biggest and best Creatures of the Deep (CotD) from standard, and begin dropping them, one at a time, at the end of turn 4. It was fun, but it lacked the competitive edge.

In standard, there were around six CotD to choose from: Kederekt Leviathan, Nemesis of Reason, Inkwell Leviathan, Lorthos, the Tidemaker, Stormtide Leviathan, and Wrexial, the Risen Deep. All in all, it wasn't too bad of a line-up, but it honestly couldn't compete against anything that started working prior to turn 4. Which, as competent Magic player knows, is the CMC of Day of Judgment and Jace, the Mind Sculptor. So yeah, it wasn't happening.

I turned to Modern to broaden my choices. I knew there had to be some other, possibly better CotD to choose from, and possibly some other helpful cards. The most recent one, the card that actually made me take another look at the deck after a few months of it's sitting on the proverbial shelf, was Trench Gorger. Trench Gorger actually allows the deck to break the 60 card competitive limit. After Quest for Ula's Temple is ready to rock, there is no need for the extra land in the library. He takes care of that, eating up all the excess land in the deck, allowing for less watered down land pockets, and leaving nothing but the CotD. I also found Mirrodin's Timesifter to be a degenerate yet lulzy combo. Think about it.

Anyways, this is what I came up with. If you have any ideas, I'd be more than happy to hear them!
