gabethatguy: Wild Defiance is in case i don't win fast enough and need extra pump to power through the mid game. I have actually been play testing with Become Immense and i just never get to cast it, it is better in non-budget versions that run fetch lands to fill the grave. I actually just replaced it with Ranger's Guile as a flex spot. I am taking it to fnm tonight so i can tweak it depending on my results.

+1. Like the budget build! Using blue cards could help with Become Immense as well, without moving too far away from budget. Running Gitaxian Probe and other Phyrexian Mana cards are a great way to fill up the graveyard quick enough for Become Immense. Ranger's Guile is a good addition, just watch out with Spellskite.

Thanks for the comment Fergernuggets. I took it to FNM last Friday and it was great to get advice from people and play-test even though i lost miserably :P. I actually hadn't thought of the potential of Gitaxian Probe to feed Become Immense on top of being useful for deck thinning and choosing when to strike. They are definitely now higher up on my buy list. I have actually removed the Ranger's Guile and one Necropede for 2 Llanowar Augur to try with the extra trample and pump (although im leaving one in my sideboard). Spellskite was a major issue but between Pithing Needle Dismember and Nature's Claim I do have a lot of sideboard answers. I might try dropping the Giant Growths and Llanowar Augurs for 4 Gitaxian Probe and 2 Become Immense, although Pendelhaven and Inkmoth Nexus are also high on my priority list

Assault Strobe might help. you would need to splash some red lands, though.
Good deck +1

Thanks Hellriding_Spitfire! I was looking at red as a fun (and often unexpected) splash or secondary colour and I agree Assault Strobe is amazing. Could also run Ghor-Clan Rampager and Flesh / Blood. Once I get my other non-budget cards fetches are probably next and then some Stomping Ground or Breeding Pool depending on what I decide to splash but wont be for a while due to budget reasons.

If you're splashing red, Brute Force would be helpful.

Become Immense is a great pump spell. I have it in my copy of this.

I play a mono green infect deck much like this, and I find that the fastest way for me to play Become Immense is to play a few fetch lands. The single point of life lost shouldn't make a difference, and it will fill up your graveyard for you to delve out Become Immense. I found that 6 fetches balances pretty well for me.

Thanks for the reply Stephen_T. I would love to have fetches (and Gitaxian Probe) in to feed Become Immense but I can't currently afford them. When I do get them the deck will likely also become dual coloured.

Have you considered splashing blue for Blighted Agents? Hard to go wrong with unblockable infect

Limey12 : thanks for the reply. The land base for UG is a bit out of my price range for the time being. I am focussing on getting the most solid mono green list first then once I have fetches I will likely go UG.

Fair enough. I run a budget UG infect deck just using basics and khan lands. Goes okay but if you want to keep it smooth and 100% competitive, your way is better.

Cool name!
Some cards I would test in an monogreen infect deck:
Ancient Stirrings:
Looks quite useful, you can grab Pendelhaven, Inkmoth Nexus (having extra Inkmoth for 1 mana looks like a great deal), sometimes Ichorclaw Mir...
Ghostfire Blade:
I would try 1 or 2, this card can be awesome sometimes.
Llanowar Reborn:
I am not sure this is worth because of speed, but having a 2/2 Ichorclaw Myr looks quite nice. Maybe just 2 of them.
Rogue's Passage:
I would test 1 of those in the deck, once in a while might become handy.
Cathedral of War:
Another problematic card in the speed dept. not to mention colorless, but I would at least test a couple.
Contagion Clasp:
This is an interesting card, looks a bit slow for modern, but sometimes it will kill a bird, sometimes it will close the deal those games you get opponent almost there but they manage to kill your creatures.
The effect can be nice also with +1/+1 counters on your creatures, so that graft land looks cool, not to mention Hunger. I guess I would test it as a 1of.
Hunger of the Howlpack:
Sometimes this is awesome with Nexus, the hard part is to activate morbid tho. I would test it tho. It is a powerful spell for sure.
Throne of Geth:
Maybe it is better than contagion clasp as a one of. It can sacrifice itself, so you can always proliferate 1. You can also fuel it with creatures and equipments. Might finish otherwise difficult to win games.
Tezzeret's Gambit:
Another card I would test in small numbers. Might help tons once in a while altho it is a bit slow.
Putrefax:
I think is totally not viable, but I always wanted to see this elephant in action.
GL! =)

@ThePlatyJoeShow if you read the description, this started out as a budget mono green deck which I have upgraded slowly. It still doesn't run Spellskite or Noble Hierarch as they are out of my "budget" but I can understand the confusion. I've removed the tag :)

I notice you have 8 fetch lands, but only 6 lands that are actually utilizable by them. Is that an oversight? or is it just to guarantee you draw them more?

scyrphix, this is a very fast and low curve deck, I never want more than 4 lands really.

i'd try something in place of Llanowar Augur. I'd give Distortion Strike a try if i were you, i run it and it works very nicely. it gives evasion for two turns over the one the Llanowar Augur offers, and only one damage less

Elocsnrek1 I have tried running spells in place of the augurs but the creature count is too low. Believe it or not I have won many games from pumping up an augur and killing with normal damage when i got screwed on draws or by melira. They are technically a budget placeholder for Noble Hierarch

Wild Defiance is too slow. You want to be winning on turn 3, not casting that. Maybe add 2 Become Immense.
