aeonstoremyliver Thanks for the suggestions! I've been seriously considering just taking this and turning it into a RDW anyways.
Considering your suggestions, what do you think of Ball Lightning ?

For sure! Ball Lightning ... YES!!! I use three!
Here's my Legacy RDW:
Looking better! I'd move Lava Spike main board in place of Pillar of Flame . Dude, it's another Lightning Bolt ! The cheaper the CMC, the better! So, additional suggestions:
Main board -4x Pillar of Flame , +4x Lava Spike -4x Hellrider , +4x Goblin Guide or Vexing Devil -2x Thundermaw Hellkite and -1x Mountain , +3x Ball Lightning If you can swing the cash...-8x Mountain , +4x Arid Mesa and +4x Scalding Tarn for Grim Lavamancer fuel and synergy with Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle .
You want a good mana curve of mostly 1 and 2 drops, but a few 3 drops. Thundermaw Hellkite has a 5 CMC, and I'm not quite sold on him in RDW, so test it. I mean, he's a helluva closer and could win the game! Remember RDW wants it done as fast as possible, so the most damage for the least CMC is best!
Sideboard -4x Searing Spear and move Lava Spike to main. 8 slots.+1x Relic of Progenitus or Tormod's Crypt +4x Vexing Shusher +3x Smash to Smithereens

Thanks for all the help, man haha.
Main Board: I like Goblin Guide more because he can keep swinging in for 2 consistently. If I play a Vexing Devil , they can choose to just take the 4 and I won't be able to use it anymore. The fetch lands are way too expensive for me so I'll have to turn that option down. As for Thundermaw Hellkite , I use him because my meta uses a lot of Lingering Souls and Midnight Haunting type combos so I need him to get in there and ping their flying tokens because I have no other flyers and I want my burn spells to hit my opponent directly.
And thanks for showing me Vexing Shusher !! I never even knew that card existed. It's pretty much Cavern of Souls on a stick.
Thanks a lot, dude!

(In a Garth voice ala Wayne's World) I like to play...
You're very welcome! Yeah, I picked up the fetch lands while they were in Standard and shortly after they rotated out. Dude, $20-30 is some cash to drop for one card! But, they are definitely a worthy investment being they're out of print, in high demand, and will continue to rise in price. Something to think about.
On another note, now your deck is a killing machine! I can see your point about Thundermaw. Slagstorm would be another option should you ever find you need a board wipe. Also, Ratchet Bomb . Cast it and sacrifice it for ZERO to get rid of tokens AND flip cards; their CMC is 0... But, play test it and lemme know how it goes! Take notes! :-D

What are your thoughts on Spark Elemental vs.Vexing Devil ?
My thoughts are, early game Vexing Devil will be an easy 4 damage. Mid game if the opponent has some board presence, then Vexing Devil may be put on the battlefield and be easily dealt with, but would Spark Elemental be any better in that situation? Just a thought.
May 26, 2013 12:56 a.m.
cscott617 Spark Elemental is just there for now. I'm still looking for some Vexing Devil but once I do, they will automatically find a spot here. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Thebigshaggy Thanks for that!! Its greatly appreciated.

I've toyed off and on with the idea of using Reforge the Soul . Back when RDW was able to use Wheel of Fortune , you could refill your hand. Now in Legacy there's not much in the way of Wheel of Fortune , so Reforge the Soul is the next best thing. With my deck, you REALLY want to draw a few Fireblast to end the game so it has potential in Legacy. Regardless of the format it could be a risky move; any time you're opponent draw cards, it could end badly. But hey, on turn four they have 6 life, you Miracle a Reforge the Soul and draw Lava Spike and Lightning Bolt , they're reduced to ashes! It also adds fuel to Grim Lavamancer , btw.
I've play tested with Reforge the Soul and was fairly pleased with the results and may find 2x slots for it in the future. You may want to consider it as a viable option. However, you never want it in your hand so it shouldn't be more than a 2x of, IMHO.

Question: When you run out of fuel is it because you're removing their creatures?

the only issue i see with it is the fact that that it lloks like you have nothing to deal with tron or decks that rely solely on their nonbasic lands, i run blood moon in my deck main board to deal with tron and control decks to make sure that i can slo em before they can drop a geist on me cause for RDW thats really hard to deal with. I also run molten rain to board in to punish the decks even more if its needed. i don't run the 6/1 trample hast sac elemental guy i run the keldon marauders because when it etbs it does 1 then when it leaves it does 1 as well and it is a 3/3 so it doesnt die to first strikers. Heres my deck link http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/blood-moon-archer/

aeonstoremyliver I end up drawing way too many lands. For that reason, I took out one Mountain for one more Slagstorm . Reforge the Soul does sound good even though it may be a bit of a gamble. Thanks!!
Glissa_the_traitor I'll playtest it. Thanks for the suggestions.

Take a look at my monored modern deck and my hexproof dec and tell me what u think of it
May 26, 2013 2:46 a.m.
aeonstoremyliver I've been thinking about switching out Ball Lightning for Guttersnipe . It could make my burn spells way more devastating. If I play him then next turn drop 3 Lightning Bolt or Lava Spike that's 15 damage. What do you think?

Whipflare might be a good alternative to Slagstorm , or do you like the players option, or do you see lots of 3/3s?
May 26, 2013 3:52 a.m.
Thebigshaggy I like Slagstorm better because it takes care of everything from Lingering Souls tokens to Thragtusk tokens. And yes, hitting your opponent for 3 isn't too bad either. Haha

@ jund01 Running Guttersnipe in lieu of Ball Lightning could be worth a shot. With 19 spells, it could be a gamble, but it's worth play testing at least.

Hey nice deck! I played this deck ( with some small tweaks ) against my friends control deck and had really good results ( won on the 4th turn 3 out of 4 times, lost the other game. ) I think Vexing Devil is a good edition to this deck and helps speed it up even more.
May 31, 2013 12:54 a.m.
lerchr Thanks for telling me your results!!
I completely agree with throwing in Vexing Devil but because they cost $10 each, I haven't been able to pull any. I'm just a poor little college boy. Haha
Thanks again!!

Play tested against my modern red deck...
Game 1- You started. Both kept 1-mana hands, we got each other down, got you to 1 and your final turn, you top decked a lightning bolt for lethal.
Game 2- Had you down to 2 life early but couldn't top deck anything good, you got out 2 Thundermaw's, then I had my shrine at 2 counters but only had 2 mana so I couldn't sac it, you got me next turn with the hellkites...
Both down to the last turn, but you got me 2-0.

pingpongball120 Thanks for playtesting!!
When I playtested against your deck, you got me 2-0 as well aha!
RDW FTW.
Thanks again.

Yay! Playtested with the same deck but it was edited a bit...
Game 1- You were mana screwed, and I kept rolling, not close.
Game 2- You had me at 3 while you were at 16, but your hand was filled with Thundermaw's and you were stuck with 4 mana, and I finished you from there.
My suggestion is to take out the Thundermaw's, by the time you get to 5 mana you really should've killed your opponent... I think when you take those out replace them with Keldon Marauders, or hellspark elemental, or even rift bolts... But hey, it's up to you man!!
RDW!

Very cool man! If I could +1 again I would! Interesting that you added Blood Moon main board. I like it.
I have a super fast Aggro deck with a turn 4-5 clock that I'll play test your deck against. Scope it:
May 31, 2013 1:54 p.m.
Ash Zealot doesn't hit hard enough. Consider Hellspark Elemental Also, a good beat stick is Ball Lightning . I like the Skullcrack , but as a board in option. Perhaps look at Searing Blaze or Shard Volley as a main board replacement.
Glancing at your sideboard, it's interesting not much to do without knowing you locations meta, but I have one suggestion. I'm not sure if Slagstorm is a viable replacement to Pyroclasm though.
Hope this helps :)

Good take! My suggestions:
-4x Spike Jester , +4x Spark Elemental -2x Tragic Slip , +2x Magma Jet -4x Dreadbore or Terminate , +4 Grim Lavamancer Sideboard whichever, pending meta
Speaking of sideboard:
-4x Auger Spree , +4x Dismember -2x Night's Whisper and Madcap Skills , +4 Blood Moon -2x rakdos return for graveyard hate ala Tormod's Crypt or Relic of Progenitus or even Surgical Extraction .Also, life gain is RDW's bane of existence. Skullcrack is decent, but Everlasting Torment is better.
If you're basing this off of RDW, the primary goal is to reduce the opponent's life ASAP. So, don't focus so much on spot removal as on your spells to reduce life total. You can have a turn 4-5 win if you ignore a 2/2... A Tarmogoyf , well block it lol.
