I'm always drawn to Theros as a plane simply due to all the goodness that comes from a Greek setting. The two stars here are the lowly Akroan Crusader and the mighty Purphoros, God of the Forge. The Crusader makes loads of tokens for Purphoros to use to direct-damage the opponent.

A combo I'm considering:Two Akroan Crusader followed by Coordinated Assault + Launch the Fleet when Purphoros, God of the Forge is on the field creates 6 1/1 soldiers with haste (3 swinging) and two 2/1 first strikers for a total of 10 damage, which Purphoros bumps up to 22 (10 + 6*2).

A possible endgame nuke in combination with Purphoros's creature-fueled damage is Dictate of the Twin Gods though it seems expensive.

Thoughts and recommendations, perhaps against control spells or removal spells? I'd love to make this work in a casual/kitchen table setting based on a theme so I'm not looking to spend a huge amount of money here.
