The semi-magical art of alchemy was always based upon the table of elements - but alchemy was too scientific to accomplish anything truly magical, beyond simple acts of magic like potions of life and transmuting iron into gold. In a world where planeswalkers shift dimensions at the clicks of their fingers, that wasn't enough... That was, until an alchemist of the Kessig woods got caught in a bad place during a planeswalkers' duel and exiled to the plane of lorwyn!

There, the alchemist Jezyral learned a very different definition of 'the elements', from the flamekin of lorwyn. He combined his alchemical arts with the flamekin's affinity for the greater elementals of the plane into something unique - a primal alchemy, allowing Jezyral to conjure forth giant beings of flame and nature from nothing more than a potion bottle.

Jezyral turned his intellect towards harnessing his elemental power to produce an artificial Spark, enabling him to eventually planeswalk home and confront the planeswalker who exiled him...
