I'd love to help. Just let me know when you're ready

I agree with popum I think you should take the top 3/5 from EDHREC and just list them with their general strategy. Instead of the indepth approach you took.
This is just a general fact you learn in graphic design the average human being won't read anything that has more than 2/3 lines of text. A wall of words will disuade people. I think this needs some spicy coding to help give it a little flare and break up the monotony of all the text.

Actually now that I read through the rules block at the beginning again, I don't think you ever actually specify that you can't include cards outside of your commander's color identity. You explain what color identity is and how it works in great detail, but never mention why it's important
Edit: Nevermind I'm just blind

DrkNinja I'll toss you both on soon, I just want to save it some places, because I always am nervous giving editing rights to other users on other websites. Anyway, I respect you so I doubt you'd mess me over xD
I'll admit, I am not good with graphic design, if you would mind fixing some of that up, that would help me out a ton!
Silverdrake It's okay, the first thing I wrote was the rules part, and I think I should redo it. Maybe that should help people that didn't catch something.
Would you mind fixing up some of the grammar mistakes and spelling issues, I am not the best with that online!

@SynergyBuild You could just put it into a google doc and add us. That way you will see all the changes first, and it won't be directly on TappedOut right away.

Oh... but what if I don't have a google account?
September 7, 2018 6:35 p.m.
Make one?
Or I could make one and add you to the doc. You don't need to have one to have access to a doc but you have to have a gmail to create a doc.

I personally enjoyed the in-depth breakdowns through the recommended commander section. I will say that a wall of text is intimidating to many people. However, I'm sure many people will scroll to the color combination of their preference and peruse that particular section thoroughly. I particularly enjoyed the algebraic method for your land calculations. I've never broken it down to a formula, but I've used a similar method in the past. I would recommend mentioning that not only being able to hit all your colors is important, you need to be able to hit all colors on curve taking into account the number of pips in your curve. I'm terrible at explaining my thought processes, so if I need to clarify any of my statements please just ask. :p
Sorry to grammar Nazi you again...
"Thanks for reading through this primer"
Through is the correct word here.
I noticed a few other inconsistencies previously, but I forget where and I'm sure either of your new editors will point them out for you anyway. :p If you need me for anything else let me know, always happy to help where I can. Thanks for providing me a resource to share with the hopefully many people I will introduce to the greatest format in magic. :p Have a great one!

@Scytec: the problem is you play EDH so you are used to reading lots of text on cards, and so generally we are used to it. However, the idea is to get new people into the format so walls of text might not be that draw.
For instance...
- Krenko, Mob Boss: Krenko, Mob Boss is a commander that is generally used to generate a large amount of tokens, to either attack or combo out with various "Enter the battlefield" or sacrifice strategies.
Short, sweet, and too the point.

Scytec since you have some ideas on all of this, if you wouldn't mind, do you think I can pick your brain?
I like the idea of a mathematical way for deckbuilding, and I actually have a system for cEDH fast combo black-blue builds, including exact numbers for cmc, lands, cantrips, tutors, number of combos, recursion, and ramp, however it would be insane to make a formulaic method for all of the possible types of decks.
Do you have a solution for this? I felt comfortable with using a formula for lands, since rarely do people care so much about landbases that they would forgo efficiency, as they might with other parts of their deck.
If you want, and have the time, would you want to join us? Just a thought. I only say this because you have some level of prestige here, and I think you are a very nice person.
DrkNinja if you wouldn't mind, aince you probably know how to make information more visually appealling than me, can you guide me on the major thought process you have with this? Possibly using images, cutting walls of text for more cleanly worded sentences, thongs of that nature.
I am personally only good at retaining and applying information to do with MTG, and have no skill at relaying it in a reasonable way to others. Sadly I just can't do that. (I am scared you'll take my number 1 spots because you are clearly better than me xD)
popum, I'll do take a look at Ezuri, and will right it up!

Oh, DrkNinja, yeah, I'd like you to make one! You can invite us, right? I only need viewing access so I can copy and paste it or whatever.

I have no prestige. :p I'm just a guy who helps if I can. Honestly, I can't think of a mathematical formula that would work for any variety of decks. I have a base number of each card type I begin with. Can't claim to much credit though because it's based on The Command Zones recommendations with a few changes. While a decent starting point, it needs tuning for each individual deck. I start by trying to acquire approximately:
10+ Ramp spells
10+ Draw
4-7 Spot removal
3-5 Board wipes
32-40 Lands
28-41 Synergistic spells for your chosen strategy
This has proven to be a moderately consistent base for me to build around. Obviously if your commander uses one of these you can run a little light in it because you always have access, and you need to broaden your definitions. Tutors are draw spells, counters are removal, things along those line. Board wipes includes any cards that wipe all of any card type like Vandalblast as well as Damnation.
I work construction, so I don't have tons of time to dedicate here to be honest. I'm always happy to discuss things, or if y'all need someone to bounce ideas off of, I'll gladly fill that role. Sorry I can't do more.

Hey, that's fine! No problem about just bouncing ideas off of you, I love a well-timed Chain of Vapor in a complex boardstate.
I will finish up the landbase now.

You all okay? Also someone upgraded my account. I didn't, and am confused. Maybe whoever runs tappedout upgraded it because I am #1 in both categories? I don't know.
September 17, 2018 10:59 a.m.
That was me, I just appreciate the deck help. Thought it told you who did it. My bad. Haha. I'm in North Texas, so I'm good. How was the evac?

Ah Scytec you are amazing. I am safe, but my house is less so. I will be semi-active, but may not be as insane as I used to. Expect me to drop of from the #1 spot on both lists, but I promise to still help people out, and hopefully will be more active once everything has settled down.
September 17, 2018 8:13 p.m.
Glad to hear you're ok. I hope everything turn out alright with your abode. Best of luck. No worries on the upgrade, I just did it as a thanks for all your help. Soon I'm gonna start building Tasigur, I'm so excited. Now when douchebags show up, I'll have a chance, thanks again for the tuned up list.

Ah, that list! Yeah, I have a $40 version I have like of to give out/teach to new players instead of a precon because we have a pretty cutthroat meta.
It wrecks face for $40 in comparison to every other deck I have ever heard of players making on that budget.
At every cost, I find hermit druid to be one of if not the best possible deck.
September 19, 2018 4:40 p.m.
Would you be willing to send me a link to it? I've been looking for a list to recommend to newer players over the pre-con

This is really cool! May I suggest a common noncompetitive commander section? For instance I did not see Ezuri, Claw of Progress but he is a very common commander.
