Hoodbro, I am going to have to say no to Infinite Obliteration, beacause I can remove the creatures another way and I can't think of 1 powerhouse creature I would have to watch out for to use that against.

no Dwynen's Elite? it is a 2/2 for 2 mana that brings out a 1/1 elf token which makes shaman of the pack more of a punch in the face

kutcha says... #3

disregard i meant sylvan messenger 4 mana cost for a 75% chance to get atleast two elfs in your hand

kutcha, no the deck seems to be working fine how it is, I kinda like being one of the only Elf players not running CoCo or Messenger. Also, what would I take out? Thanks for the suggestion though!

i would take gather the pack out it isnt really doing that much for you and messanger almost does the same thing except they dont go to the grave yard they go to the bottom on the deck

I also won my gameday as well. Mine runs slightly different from yours though. I might start running murderous cut. Magnachron Heres mine Elves of Origins: Origins game day winner!

how about collected company?

MrGarfunkle, no I am not running CoCo or Messenger for a reason. I play-tested this exact deck with a CoCo instead of my Gather the Packs and my Shamanic Revelation, but this deck worked better. I also have surprised a lot of people with my deck, because they are expecting Coco or messenger, but that's not what they get. Also, Gather The Pack helps out a lot with murderous cuts throughout the game, which is nice. Revelation actually worked really well last night, when I had out both of my Obelisk of Urds in a really long game and I ended up drawing 6 cards and gaining 24 life too. They don't always help the deck, but when they do, they are a big help!

how often are you destroying your urborg to play another urborg? Are there several u/r ensoul decks in your meta ? If you have the time please check out my list i am apprehensive about playing the shamanic revelations because of board state issues in the meta that i am playing in andfor the same reason gather the pack. took it to gameday went 3-1 top 4 on this build only lose was to a constellation deck running a combo. standard elves

What was your strategy for defeating the thopter decks if you don't mind me asking? I made it to top 4 on gameday but sadly got destroyed by U/R thopters.

P.S. Winning a game with a 1 damage foul tongue shriek was definetly the highlight of my life.

Magnachron says... #16

Rumtin, That's awesome with the foul tongue. I beat the thopter decks I faced with Eyeblight Massacre and Windstorm out of my sideboard.

How effective has your sideboard been? I'm curious on what you've noticed is best for different match ups.

Magnachron says... #18

Default404, I think I have used and liked my sideboard for every game I have played. I find Murderous Cut to be very helpful against slower decks. If you have any questions on what I would sideboard against what, ask!

Have you play against Mono-Red? I found Searing-Blood / Anger of Gods or Seismic Rupture a real threat to this deck.

Have ypu ever considere Sword of Animist, Ranger's Guile ( Againts Mono-Red, or any removal from black/white), Might of the Masses?

PD: I read above that CoCo doesnt work well in this deck but what about Messenger ? I think that should fit perfectly.

PD: Fantastic deck , congratulations

What are your thoughts on Woodland Bellower?

As it basically has the same effect as Chord of Calling, but functions as a big nasty creature as well. Only downside i can see, is that you cannot convoke him.... but then again... he's a big bad guy besides his ability. Im asking, because I am building an elf tribal deck right now, but want to keep it post-rotation. Also I already own 2 copies of the bellower :D

cid7707 says... #21

I'm in the same boat as you Skaji, though I do use CoCo in my deck and it seems to work fine. I use one Woodland Bellower right now, along with an Outland Colossus, but I'm curious if I should just ditch the Colossus and add my other Bellower.

August 17, 2015 2:15 a.m.

skaji says... #22

@cid7707 Even though I like Outland Colossus as a card (cause who doesnt want a 5 drop 12/12) I think i would replace it. Atleast in my local meta it would probably not see the end of the turn I played him. With all the Murderous Cut, Ultimate Price, Banishing Light and sorts floating around it's just not worth the mana. 5 mana equals ~3 elves, which basically translates to 3 direct damage to my opponent. Not taking in account the possible card draw, mana ramp or tokens. Because let's be honest, theres not much else to kill for them. If they are dumb they will waste their removal on your Nissa, if they smart, they will use it on your mana ramp. Creature kill in general isnt the best strategy against an elf deck, but when you have a 12/12 giant in there, it will get blown out by an instant :D

How many CoCos's are you using exactly? Playset? And do you use Chord at all?

August 17, 2015 8:52 a.m.

cid7707 says... #23

Currently I'm using 3 CoCo, but I have a 4th in the mail. I'm shying away from Chord since it's rotating out soon, and I just like the ability to drop CoCo and get at an elf or two onto the field relatively quickly for less mana cost. And I am dropping the Colossus for another bellower. I know Chord would work well, but I don't want to spend the money on a card I won't be using two months down the road. I posted my decklist to reddit and have already made the changes suggested there. https://www.reddit.com/r/Magicdeckbuilding/comments/3ha290/gb_elf_tribal_first_competitive_standard_deck_and/

Bare in mind the initial construction of that deck was just with what I had on hand. It handled pretty well in my FNM meta the past few weeks, which isn't very combo heavy, with some easily manageable control. But I'm moving to a larger city with a much tougher meta game, so I took suggestions and made the changes.

Methvelin No, not really. I am going to clear comments soon. I have already stopped deck-cycling. I have a new cool standard deck Idea I am going to release, but I will wait for BFZ.It is currently Post-Rotation.
