Theros ready Mono-Black midrange.
The idea here is early game you want to mess with your opponents hand, this way it takes him a little longer to recover, then you drop your mana accelerators, black permanents, and Erebos. Erebos is probably your main win condition, while Pack Rat keeps the field full of blockers, and gets rid of extra cards and legendary permanents you don't need.
Desecration Demon keeps the field under control, or swings in for massive damage.
Thoughtseize is tier-1 disruption, getting rid of whatever threat lies in your opponents hand, while also giving you the advantage of knowing their hand. Duress, while more limited, serves the same purpose.
Gray Merchant of Asphodel comes out late game to put you way ahead of your opponent, and if your devotion allows it, can win you the game.
Corrupt serves the same purpose as Gray Merchant, without the body, and a more reliable source for the damage.
Lifebane Zombie helps with more hand disruption, notably against Voice of Resurgence, Archangel of Thune, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, and more annoying creatures.
Hero's Downfall is a great pumped up Murder. Planeswalkers are getting a huge power boost this season, and I'm glad to have an answer for it.
Read the Bones is one of my favorite cards from Theros. Successfully making a less saturated [[Sign in Blood], but more powerful is going to make this card a staple in most black decks. Scry 2 before you draw two is amazing. The loss of life is nothing, I can easily make that back with Gray Merchant.
Sideboard:
Here we've got a sideboard that adjusts my kill spells to best conserve mana against my opponents decks. In the case of a mirror match or just a deck with heavy black, Hero's Betrayal gets switched in, and Hero's Downfall comes out. Against decks whose threats are non-black, Doom Blade comes out in place of Downfall.
Token Decks will see a heavy resurgence of Ratchet Bomb.
And finally, Pithing Needle is there for even more Planeswalker hate, as well as plenty of other uses.
This deck is a complete work in progress, as all of Theros hasn't been revealed yet. Time will only tell how this deck can evolve, but it can only get better. Thanks for taking the time to look.
