Why not Attune With Aether for mana search? 1 mana card and the energy is whatever.

How did FNM results go?

Attune with Aether only finds basic lands, Sylvan Scrying and Ulvenwald Hydra fetch the decks game winning threat.

archfield1, I've only played one FNM and with last weeks version of this deck. I was at a disadvantage against two BG Constrictor decks, beat two other fringe decks that couldn't deal with Ormandahl. This new version will do much better against BG and should generally do well against any average random decks.

I haven't honestly considered how to beat Copy-Cat Control combo, that would be a problem, but no one's playing that around here.

With the mainboard plan now going longer, idk if it's necessary to have essentially 9 copies of Westvale Abbey  Flip. You'll be cycling through the deck fast with so many Bestiaries, it might be better to replace the the Sylvan Scryings with any cards you've been forced to cut.

I've definitely wanted to try a build like this. I like the looks of the deck. Personally I like Weaponcraft Enthusiast over Eyeless Watcher, but I see the value in watcher. One card that could be either a replacement for Heroic Intervention or a sideboard card in addition to heroic intervention is Vile Redeemer. You can even sack your scions that are on the field for mana in order to cast Vile Redeemer if it makes sense in the situation. Second Harvest seems like a fun card to cast at the end of your opponent's turn to catch them off guard with your token total.

You might also want to try out a green-white version of this deck that takes advantage of value token producers like Sram's Expertise.

Have you considered panharmonicon to get more scions off of your eldrazi? I believe you are running enough enter the battlefields to play it.

Catacomb Sifter may be a great addition, although I understand you are focusing on a mono-green deck, I feel you'd be able to activates Westvale far easier when you can drop two bodies for three mana. He also has the addition to give you a ton of scry once you activate the Westvale. If you don't like the Sifter, you could use Blisterpod.

I've explored BG, look through this pages history for details.

Catacomb Sifter is better then Scion Summoner, the five scrys when paying for Westvale Abbey  Flip are fun, but there's not much difference otherwise. This deck just wants two bodies for three mana.

I've tried Blisterpod in various builds, but it always gets cut eventually. The other 1-drops are much more impactful. Ornithopter works out better then Blisterpod with both Westvale Abbey  Flip and Lifecrafter's Bestiary and also with Loam Dryad if needed.

This is a great deck, +1 from me! Also, could you take a look at my deck for some suggestions Who wins the game, Ormendahl!

if you have not updated this deck yet black has some good creatures for this. I believe the fastest is black/white weaponcraft enthusiast is three bodies for three mana. when it is cast off of srams expertise it is six bodies for four mana westvale is ready to flip turn five for sure.

Like the idea of the deck +1 =D

I have a question, what is your strategy if Westvale Abbey  Flip doesn't come out?

EDIT: My bad, i thought Sylvan Scrying only searched for basics. You'd be unlucky with amount of draw and scrying to not get it out within a reasonable amount of time.

How does the deck perform against aggro, midrange, control decks?

March 17, 2017 9:35 p.m. Edited.

PlagueRats says... #13

With the main deck against aggro or midrange it's usually just a race decided by luck of the draw.

Against control you need to stick Lifecrafter's Bestiary, then it's easy to grind them out.

It would be easy to build a deck that beats this, but for now most people are concerned with combating the dominant tier 1 decks.

Nice deck. I have had quite a bit of success with a mono-green Eldrazi ramp build and recently reworked it to include Westvale Abbey  Flip as an alternate win condition. My build is here:

Mono Greendrazi Decimation

Okay, so how might you alter this list in regards to when the Zendikar block rotates out? Would you say you'd have to splash another color?

March 23, 2017 5:28 p.m.

PlagueRats says... #16

TheRedGoat are you serious? This is a budget deck brewed for the current meta and we will have three new sets of cards that no one has seen by rotation.

Westvale Abbey  Flip will also rotate, so I don't think splashing another colour will help

March 24, 2017 11 a.m. Edited.

Shwang says... #17

This is really cool! Looks like a fun way to take down an opponent... and is a homebrew, which are da best. I can only think of a couple ways to beat him in the meta:

  1. Disallow can counter the flip, right?

  2. Exiling abilities: Stasis Snare, Anguished Unmaking, ... not many more in meta, and even the ones I listed won't be in many decks

March 24, 2017 3:28 p.m.

TheRedGoat says... #18

@PlagueRats: Honestly, yes, I am serious, as even though the deck as a whole will rotate out it is obvious most of your cards will stay in rotation for a while. No, it will no stay permanently, but no deck in standard can do so and say it always uses the exact same type of cards.

The fact that your particular brew is a budget build feels more like an accomplishment than a self set restriction, so don't knock it for that. And, even if I tried to take the brew in a new direction for the next set myself, I personally feel like your version here is the most thought out "Ormendahl" deck that I've seen, so I'd want to get your opinions on any potential changes. Such as the replacement of cards that will be rotating out the soonest.

Now if you don't really feel like planning that part of the deck out that's fine by me. I basically just wondered if you were curious about how the deck would move forward like I was.

@TheRedGoat

I hadn't really been thinking much about next rotation. It's kinda been a mess for years, every rotation lately seems to come at a different interval. Anybody remember core sets? What about that twice a year experiment? Right now we are only half way to rotation. right? Check out http://whatsinstandard.com/

Literally the only decent card left from this mainboard after rotation will be Forest, otherwise it's just Druid of the Cowl, Narnam Renegade, Ornithopter, and Lifecrafter's Bestiary.

After rotation I will probably try to brew decks with four Lifecrafter's Bestiary. Hopefully fit in my playset of Ornithopter... I guess I'll likely continue trying to build decks in the direction of efficient low-cost creatures along with cheap card draw engines. That sort of strategy is always fun in the sense that you always get to play most of your cards and usually have a way to win unless the opponent keeps drawing answers.

Oviya Pashiri, Sage Lifecrafter doesn't rotate, it's almost always a card I want to to play. I've played four a lot and found I always want to either cast or activate it. 4x

4x Heroic Intervention. 4x Narnam Renegade. Actually this looks like the beginnings of a great deck...

TheRedGoat says... #20

Oh, lol well that does work well too as far as full rotation. I think I see the confusion was that I wasn't considering that Innistrad was rotating out at the same time as Zendikar, I thought is was one block at a time now.

I can tell you that if you want to have a similar "blowout" creature build like with Ormendahl, then currently I'm seeing Aetherwind Basker as the biggest if not the best one.

March 26, 2017 9:07 a.m.

about that thought knot seer in the maybeboard....

i dont think it fits in your deck because you want to be doing better things like flipping westvale abbey on turn 4, and one of them doesnt work well at all, this is aggro, after all :D

March 29, 2017 3:24 a.m.

PlagueRats says... #22

Right, Thought-Knot Seer would fit the sideboard deck only. In place of the 2nd Decimator of the Provinces, as a 3rd option to tutor with the four From Beyond.

Thought-Knot Seer seems great for game three to be able to take out their answer and know if your threat will be safe. I want one. If I owned one I would probably play it, but it's out of this decks price range.

This is a very sweet deck, and definitely fun to pilot. I played it against my RPG forest deck, and managed to eke out a win in games 2 and 3 against your deck, even though you got Ormendahl off in every game. It was a hard fought battle, though.
