To honor our reptilian overlords I decided to make a Snake/Shapeshifter-Tribal with Kaseto, Orochi Archmage as commander.

For this deck I try to use only the creature types Snake and Shapeshifter with three exeptions so far: Regal Behemoth and Trygon Predator since the are both handy reptiles and Kruphix, God of Horizons because he is very useful and in some sense the reptilians are Gods to us.

The main theme is Copying and Stealing my opponents creatures. In this playstyle I have zero experience and don't know all the cards, even though I did a lot of research.

Most flavorful are cards like Clever Impersonator, Reins of Power, Duplicant, Body Double and Stolen Identity because they depict this theme very well.

Note that this is also a budget list at the moment, so I'll not include expensive cards like Bribery.

Here are the cards I currently play for the theme of stolen Identity. Mainly copying a creature or taking control over it.

I will include cards like card:Dissertion in the future, when I figure this out how to operate this deck to its highest potential.

  • Kruphix, God of Horizons: Powerful card, that helps with mana and keeping the cards you drew.

  • Trygon Predator: Even though a beast, it looks like a reptile and it is one of the main artifact and entchantment removal in this deck.

  • Regal Behemoth: One of my favorite cards in this deck. It adds the Monarch mechanic to the deck and can double our mana. A Lizard that fun is always welcome as a pet.

Counters, Removal

At the moment there are not enough counters, but that will change. What a blue deck lacks in power can always be made up with a control shell. Control is after all the end game of world domination.

- Sol Ring
In this department the deck needs an upgrade. Green and blue are wonderful colors for card draw, but in green it is often connected to a non Snake-body or to big masses, which this deck does not generate.

The plan is to use the opponents weapons against them. But if the don't run a whole lot of creatures that is a problem as I experienced. (Looking at you Superfriends!) If taking over works, sacrificing their creatures to fuel your engine with Evolutionary Leap or maybe Perilous Forays for longterm benefits.

So that's about it. Any suggestions or help with switching out cards? Have a look at the maybeboard to see which cards I am already considering. Mana Reflection and Vedalken Shackles are non-budget, but seem just too good not to get them for this deck...where as Willbreaker and Beguiler of Wills seem strong for the deck, but aren't Snakes or Shapeshifters...

Most of the other snakes I've tried already and didn't find them that useful...unfortunately. This is a fun deck, but should still be able to hold its ground against stronger decks. If you think I should include certain snakes, let me know why :)

Help with the manabase is also much needed, but should still be budget friendly. Mainly I want to know if I should run more Islands/Forest over the other or, if I could even cut some lands.

Thank you :)
