All Hail Sedge Scorpion, the Storm Crow of Theros!

Standard BG (Golgari) Mono-Green Ramp Theme/Gimmick

GoldGhost012

Sideboard

While Storm Crow rules over the Multiverse, Sedge Scorpion rules Theros with an iron stinger.

Sedge Scorpion is the ultimate win condition in the deck! It's beefy 1/1 body lets it charge through defenders and deathtouch gets rid of pesky attackers! All for G!!

Weaving its powerful Magics, Sedge Scorpion was able to manipulate WOTC to reprint Chord of Calling and gain its powerful Magics in his army. Very powerful for summoning things with ETB abilities.

Sedge Scorpion needs no ramp, but Elvish Mystic, and Sylvan Caryatid are rampers, instrumental to getting out Sedge Scorpion's expensive minions. Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, the place where Sedge Scorpion sleeps at night, also ramps depending on the devotion to green.

Under the supreme power of Sedge Scorpion , the rampers are able to get up to a large amount of mana. This means its minions, Genesis Hydra and Hornet Queen are able to get out quickly and crush opponents. If Sedge Scorpion doesn't do it first.

Nylea, God of the Hunt has joined the crusade of Sedge Scorpion , fighting under its power. Not able to get devotion for her? Who cares? She's a great indestuctable place to dump excess mana to pump creatures up.

Courser of Kruphix is basically a jack of all trades in this deck. A good attacker and blocker, a bit of card advantage and deck thinning, lifegain, and two devotion to Sedge Scorpion 's cause.

Reclamation Sage is a rather useful creature to Chord out when I need him. Says hell to the no to Courser of Kruphix, Ensoul Artifact, Master of the Feast , etc.

Commune with the Gods lets me dig for Sedge Scorpion 's trusty minions to boost their performance.

What's a scorpion to do when it faces annoying creatures like the always-worrisome Goblin Rabblemaster? Fight back, that's what. Setassan Tactics acts as removal for a lot of threats with deathtouch and other large creatures and can be used by multiple creatures at once, also providing a small boost.

After his transformation into Garruk, Apex Predator , Sedge Scorpion once again promised him Liliana's head for his servitude. Coming out early with Sedge Scorpion's ramp package, either one of his +1s means death for something. His -3 is not only removal, but also lifegain; double whammy! And his ultimate basically means death for your opponent. Imagine, a 6/6 trampley Sedge Scorpion ! Sedge Scorpion even manages to give Garruk the Temple of Malady as a gift.

Nissa, Worldwaker has a problem. A problem that Sedge Scorpion has promised to help her overcome if she pledges her loyalty to it. Nissa is able to help ramp and create strong creatures from lands, and is a true powerhouse.

For the sideboard:

With Theros brought enchantments. Lots of them. Thankfully, Sedge Scorpion was able to convince Wizards that Back to Nature should be printed in M15 to counter enchantment-heavy decks.

Sedge Scorpion spent years researching ways to beat those stupid control decks that run blue, and it created Mistcutter Hydra . Totally would be mainboarded if it had trample.

With Nylea, God of the Hunt's conversion to Sedge Scorpion 's banner also comes Nylea's Disicple. This centaur is great against aggro and burn decks, since she gains us a good amount of life while also providing 2 devotion and a decent body.

For as long as there are kill and burn spells and Sedge Scorpion utilizes green (which historically has few ways to protect itself from such spells), Ranger's Guile provides some much-appreciated protection from pesky Hero's Downfall s and Lightning Strikes.

A low-cost creature able to destroy enchantments and artifacts while also providing a decent body and devotion? Sedge Scorpion drafted Reclamation Sage to get the slots over Fade into Antiquity .

While Reclamation Sage and Back to Nature do great work for Sedge Scorpion , there's still a troubling issue with Gods, which can't be removed by either. So a singleton Unravel the Aether will do for God removal.
