This is brilliant. The phrase "Sedge Scorpion needs no ramp" cracked me up because it's so true.

I do admit that my favourite card of all time is Deadly Recluse , which makes this card inferior, but that actually helps this card hit the right notes with me. It's got elements of what I love about Deadly Recluse in it, but it's smaller, cuter and more mediocre which makes it a Storm Crow -esque parody figure.

Clan Defiance isn't referencing the Gruul clans. It's referencing the Clan Of Sedge Scorpions.

Thanks, pookypuppy6! Actually, your comment "No wonder there are about 6 indestructible creatures in the set, they needed to make sure the format could handle the 1/1 deathtouching scorpion for G." inspired me to parody Storm Crow .

"The Clans of Sedge Scorpions" sounds really neat! I'll have to work it into the description. Again, thanks!

Never before in my life have I wished for a feature token to spread the word of the almighty Sedge Scorpion .

This deck is utter blasphemy. Even comparing something to Storm Crow is unheard of. I vote that you be burned at the stake for saying such seditious things.

Perhaps. However, by no means do I mean the Lord of the Multiverse any disrespect. I was simply making the connection that both Storm Crow and Sedge Scorpion have supreme power and rule over something. Of course, Storm Crow wins. Always.

That's actually a really good vote to tally, upvotes vs, burning me at the stake.

Two words: Wasteland Viper .

Wasteland Viper didn't kill the mightiest hunter on its plane. Not saying it couldn't, but Sedge Scorpion did.

I would try to put in a couple of Alpha Authority . Wouldn't like your nice indestructible collosus to be humiliated by Pacifism :P. Also Warrior's Lesson would be awesome on a couple of unblocked scorpions for draw power

Wasteland Viper is OBVIOUSLY inferior to the scorpion. Sedge Scorpion can't be discarded so easily. :D

Diam, I hate Pasifism with a burning passion (except for when I'm casting it lol), so that on a Colossus would be tragic and I'd probably flip the table. I was originally thinking about Ranger's Guile maybe in the sideboard, but Alpha Authority would probably be better. What would you suggest taking out for it?

Warrior's Lesson probably won't be necessary, mostly because by the time mu creatures start swinging, there's little need to draw. A 20/20 trampler will do that for you. :)

Thanks for the suggestions!

I would remove a couple Burst of Strength for 2 Alpha Authority . You already have lots of potentional blockers so it doesnt seem to fit here. Also i think Guardian of the Ages does not fit with a green deck since you have lots of other options at 7 mana like Giant Adephage or even Mistcutter Hydra for the opponent that thinks he can get away from your stomping attacks with Frost Breath or some other annoying counter :P

Thanks for your suggestions Diam! I added the Alpha Authority s and Giant Adephage s for Burst of Strength and Guardian of the Ages , both of which have been underwhelming in playtests. Mistcutter Hydra is good, but was sideboarded because of its lack of trample and only true effectiveness against one color. It's really a control deck's worst nightmare! Now for the rest of the sideboard...

Thanks again!

Hmm for the Sideboard i would definetely consider something with reach for those heavy flyer decks like Deadly Recluse or Arbor Colossus (i love this guy!). I also think Fade into Antiquity is a must! Will exile all the new gods plus any other annoying artifacts/enchantments. Your deck is very fast so you propably wont need it but just in case since Thassa is playable for 3 mana. You might also consider some life gain for red decks! Scavenging Ooze or Elixir of Immortality would do the trick with the added bonus of the Elixir against mill decks.

WovenNebula, thanks!

Diam, thanks once more for the input! I agree Fade into Antiquity a must, since it will probably be pretty powerful in Theros because of the reasons you mentioned. Sedge Scorpion does not like the idea of another deathtouching arachnid, but it sees the usefulness of Deadly Recluse . Arbor Colossus is good too, but I was considering Bow of Nylea because of its versatility. Elixir of Immortality is another auto-include, and Scavenging Ooze can probably go in a a 2-of. Thanks again for your help!

Firstly I love you devotion to the mighty Sedge Scorpion , though I am not a servent myslef I am humbled by his sleek armored body and naty stinger.

THoguh I have gone down the defender rout rather than mono green ("sorry Sedge Scorpion , no don't nip me, ahhh!! that heart"). I have been inspired to create a deck with Colossus of Akros I'm sure I will learn a lot from reading your deck and I hope Sedge Scorpion can give me a few pointers for my own deck....that don't include Sedge Scorpion being added.

The best offence. Its particularly things like your swaping in of Giant Adephage that interests me.

Kalonian Tusker and some more Clan Defiance also I think you should run Druid's Deliverance instead of Defend the Hearth just in case you have a Giant Adephage token out.

You could run Leafcrown Dryad for giving the Scorpion reach and a power buff. Plus its a 2/2 reach anyway if you just cast it.

You could also run [Wasteland Viper] as a supplement to the Scorpion.

(Also, how do you do the link to the cards?? I thought it was [ ] )

GoldGhost012 says... #18

Use double brackets. [.[Sedge Scorpion].] becomes Sedge Scorpion (withou he periods).

Wasteland Viper doesn't really belong in a deck with Sedge Scorpion and attacking creatures with really high power. It's mostly used as a combat trick to get rid of a pesky blocker. Plus Sedge Scorpion had forbid its presence here.

I'll consider Leafcrown Dryad .

Ahhh, Alright, thanks.

Also, Bow of Nylea is nice for small flyer removal and if they aren't running fliers it just makes Sedge Scorpion all the bigger.

He was an Akroan. Akrons don't feel anything but battle lust, which is what allowed Sedge Scorpion to kill him easily.
