Wasteland Viper is much better than Sedge Scorpion

How many times have people told you Wasteland Viper is strictly better than Sedge Scorpion ?

I would go off on a tangent, but I'm on my iPod and thus am too lazy to write it all out. However, if I did go off, here would be the gist:

Silence

Render Silent

Prey Upon

Revoke Existence

Last Breath

Maybe with a few Month Python Holy Grail references thrown in.

Too many times. Way too many times. Probably something like over 9000. Or something.

If the win condition is Sedge Scorpion , why are you not running a full playset?

Time to Feed could make Sedge Scorpion be life gain

also:

deathtouch? why not Wasteland Viper

I've found that Time to Feed is strictly worse than Pit Fight becuase Pit Fight costs 1 less but more importantly is an instant, which helps me get rid of pesky creatures like Obzedat, Ghost Council and AEtherling . It will probably be my removal of choice when RTR rotates, depending on what else Journey into Nyx and M15 bring us. Besides, Bow of Nylea gives me more consistent lifegain.

No room for inferior Vipers, I'm afraid.

I think that once Journey into Nyx is released, I'm definitely grabbing a playset of Setessan Tactics to replace Pit Fight when it rotates out (yay for planning ahead!). Or should I put in the Tactics immediately? Any thoughts?

Given that it goes around Master of Waves , if MUD is a thing you could try it against right now without much problem. Only issue is that the creature has to tap :/

April 14, 2014 11:07 p.m.

Run both. More removal, yay.

April 14, 2014 11:47 p.m.

GoldGhost012 says... #15

Bromjunaar, that's practically the only thing that I dislike about it (well, and the fact that I run 16 creatures with power equal to or less than 1 that don't deathtouch). It can be an awesome combo trick to have my tapped Sedge Scorpion or Giant Adephage fight an attacking creature. On the plus side, it is a pump as well, making me able to push through more damage.

InconspicuousPotato, I really don't have enough room to put in more removal unless I put in Nessian Wilds Ravager .

I have a mono-green deck, too: Legit Mono-Green Burn (Is That Even Possible?). You should check it out.

The best thing about Setessan Tactics (Aside from it giving you two pit fights for 1GG) is that it makes your scorpion into a scorpion bear and beefing up it's already beefy body!!!(For 1 turn.)

Wasteland Viper is a better sedge scorpion in standard. I feel bad telling you this now that your deck is named and everything. Also Fall of the Hammer is a better card than Pit Fight as your own creature doesn't take damage, the only problem is possibly the red mana needed to cast it in the early game. Have you accepted Kalonian Hydra into your life?

Also another 2 achievements: Send in the clones: have 5 or more Giant Adephage on the battlefield at once.Defiant to the last: win a game with just the damage from Clan Defiance

cut off one head, 2 more shall take their place! HAIL HYDRA

Everyone keeps going on and on about Wasteland Viper ... you're wasting your time.

Fall of the Hammer is red, meaning I absolutely need red mana for it. It's not hard for me to generate red mana, but I'd rather not add colors or be reliant on a creature that will die to Doom Blade .

Kalonian Hydra is inferior to Giant Adephage in my opinion. Sure he pumps himself to a huge power, but he also dies to Doom Blade faster. Giant Adephage leaves copies behind, making it much harder to Doom Blade .

Maybe throw in a few Mortal's Resolve to indestructible your scorpions for blocking and Pit Fight ? I mean, what's better than an indestructible scorpion?
