Thanks for the comment and question jsnrice. Indeed, totally agree on the essential nature of Training Grounds.

Now, onto Sakashima of a Thousand Faces. As Sliver Overlord is a repeatable ability (as doesn't require a ), I just struggle to see the point in having 2 on the table at the same time? Tutoring from 1 or the other would have the same outcome. I do, however, want to make Sakashima as a commander deck on her own, as I think the card is so good.

So, why Intruder Alarm I hear you say? So, if I have:

Gemhide Sliver or Manaweft Sliver + Cloudshredder Sliver or Heart Sliver + Intruder Alarm + Sliver Overlord and another sliver from the Hive, I can then tutor every Sliver in my deck and play it. Starting at 1 CMC and and then moving up. I tap my Slivery creatures for mana, and then when new slivers come in, they untap, and I can tutor and play again. Hope that makes sense.

Also Omniscience_is_life and chilbi, thank you very much for the upvotes.

Doombeard1984 so my main focus behind Sakashima is that if your Overlord is targeted (and he will be) you'll have a contingency plan. Granted if you have Crystalline out this becomes a lot easier to guard him or perhaps swap Sakashima out for Lightning Greaves? You're right in that he doesn't need to be tapped which makes for a very nice tutor.

Ok I can now see the sense of Intruder Alarm. You're going off the tap for mana ability which is pretty smart but I fear it could add some unwanted side affects but then again that's just the OCD side of me.

Ok last question. Why not throw in some 0 drop artifacts such as Mana Crypt or Lotus Petal? The Lotus Petal can get you out of a pinch if you need that one color and the Mana Crypt is just a staple. Turn one Chromatic Lantern solves your color problems. Even a Sol Ring would be a decent choice. As much as I like the crypt far to many games where It's done at least 12 damage to me and that's a lot of life!

Hello again jsnrice.

So I am not adverse to colorless mana rocks in most decks, indeed if you look at my Kaalia, Raining Death from Above, I use a significant amount of these mana rocks. With my beloved Slivers however, as there is such a reliance on colored Mana, the focus is just not on things like Mana Crypt and Sol Ring.

And to the other points in your message, yes, Intruder Alarm has some risks attached to it. Other decks can also kick off from it. As its a cheap enchantment, I tend to only play it when I am set to win. I also pack a lot of interaction in a significant amount of counter magic and protection/recursion. Hopefully this protects my attempt at winning. Also helps my try and stop my opponents from going off themselves. A Force of Will would be nice, but I just havent got to buying one of those yet lol

Always good to see another Sliver deck lol

As for suggestions, Call to the Kindred and Descendants' Path work well in Sliver decks imo. Best of luck with the deck!

Thank you lucariolover1023, and always appreciate some ideas. Whilst those cards look fun (especially Call to the Kindred, not seen that before), my only concern would be ripping a killer spell from the top that isn't a creature, and then having to place it on the bottom. To an extent I could always then use Sliver Overlord to search and shuffle them up again, but there is a degree of randomness there that I am just not sure about. Have you experienced using these cards and any kind of outcomes like that?

February 1, 2021 4:28 a.m.

Doombeard1984 There is absolutely a lot of randomness that goes with it, I admit. I've sent away a fair share of useful lands and enchantments using Call to the Kindred , for example, but I see it as an acceptable trade-off for the ability to put some extra Slivers on the field, especially for free. To be fair, my deck is also more heavily centered around the Sliver Queen combo than yours, so my strategy isn't much affected if I shuffle away something that's not part of the combo.

With that being said, I still see it as an acceptable risk for your deck, since you're shuffling away anything you would have drawn every time you tutor anyways, and there's very little difference to me between shuffling away a good pull because of Sliver Overlord and putting a card on the bottom of the library. It's also worth mentioning that you have half again as many creatures in your deck as mine, so Call to the Kindred would probably work better for you than for me :)

Spirit of Resistance may be something to consider because you almost always have a creature of every color with slivers

Hello DragonQueen127,

Thank you for stopping by and having a look at my deck. I appreciate the upvotw greatly.

So you made a suggestion of Spirit of Resistance for my brood. I think I may have seen this card before, but it was a time ago lol. So I can see good reason behind this suggestion, but I feel I doesn't actively take me further to my goal of emptying my library of Slivers and winning that way. It seems like it would be more at home in a kind of Pillow fort kind of deck. I would be intrigued for you to let me know what you would take out in place of Spirit of Resistance , and most importantly, why?

Thanks again

Imo Virulent Sliver is a must include for sliver overlord decks. You can win like turn 4 with that alone. You can use overlord to get virulent and cloudshredder for a nasty poison insta kill flying over the enemies defense. Also you can use shifting sliver if they have fliers. Either way, Virulent Sliver is life.

Mortlocke says... #17

rennb1024, Poisonous is not Infect. From what your post is telling me, it appears you think the two abilities are equivalent - but they are not. Poisonous ( Virulent Sliver ) requires 10 individual instances of combat damage targeting a single opponent to secure a win. Infect is a substitution effect - instead of combat damage being dealt, opponents take poison counters equal to the creature's power. Unless you are facing only slow creature less decks, Virulent Sliver is not good in EDH (or alot of formats really).

Doombeard1984 says... #18

As Mortlocke said, I think Virulent Sliver is just too slow. Much more likely to combo out and kill with huge amounts of damage combined with my opponents board being decimated , or ETB effects, or triggers due to Spiteful Sliver and Blasphemous Act . At that point, a singular poison counter becomes moot. Thank you for having a look at my deck though, I really appreciate it. Any further suggestions, please let me know

Well my friends, today a new journey has begun....

Today I have bought my first OG revised dual land. I feel that now that barrier has been breached, I will end up buying more (possibly one a month). Savannah is the first one I have bought. 2 Reasons, one it helps me get the land more evenly spread in this deck, and 2.... My first ever EDH deck is so there is some sentimental stuff there. Cant wait to add it to the deck. What would you take out for it? I am considering the Reflecting Pool or the Homeward Path ... Mortlocke I feel I may need to ask for your guidance once more.

I have also bought the secret lair drop with the poster art, purely because that art looks awesome. That Nature's Lore will defo be in here.

Doombeard1984, first I want to say congratulations on acquiring your first original dual land! Your deck (and card collection) has acquired some truly sacred ground! You should be proud. As for what to cut, I'm leaning more toward the aforementioned Homeward Path . I assume Homeward Path is a countermeasure for if your commander is stolen - but most creature stealing spells and effects can be thwarted through means already in your deck. No need for a land so specific that its useless 99% of the time, in my opinion. That is unless your meta is really weird and its just chock-full of Control Magic effects. Regardless, my recommendation stands. Good luck in your future OG Dual acquisitions!

Doombeard1984 says... #21

Thanks Mortlocke for the kind words. II had the Homeward Path in there because I previously did not have anything in the deck to deal with a control magic effect. Since have upgraded and included a bevvy of counter-magic etc, so yes, don't feel The Path is required anymore.

I guess as the acquisitions increase, I will probably look to replace the Battlebond type lands ( Morphic Pool and its ilk) with the duals.

Hello RA_HORAKHTE, and thank you for your upvote for my Hive. Has been a labour of love, and am now embarking on a new part of the adventure for those elusive dual lands. Please let me know your thoughts, opinions etc. as they are greatly appreciated.

Also, stopped by and checked out your hive as well. V nice. Upvote duly given lol

Doombeard1984 Thanks for sharing your deck! Although I've been collecting slivers for a long time, I'm still learning about how to use them in EDH. (I'm happy you also visited my deck, thanks!)

Loved your Intruder Alarm inclussion, I think I should try it in my deck!

By the way, what do you think about this packcage?:

-> Morophon, the Boundless + Hibernation Sliver + The First Sliver (wich you already play). I have this combination in my deck not as a real infinite combo but as another finisher sinergy: With Morophon, the Boundless you can play The First Sliver free, getting cascade, and returning it to your hand with Hibernation Sliver by paying life. You'll get a <4CMC cascade trigger every time you repeat this by payign 2 life, but playing a big part of your deck, probably reaching Lavabelly Sliver and Syphon Sliver , obtaining an infinite way of gaining 2 life to infinitely bounce an sliver and play it free with Morophon until your opponents die with the Lavabelly damage. Reaching Intruder Alarm and Mana Echoes I supose it also could reach an infinite mana path too. I know there are better combos using The Queen, I just play this one as a diferent one and taking advantage I personally play The First Sliver as commander.

Doombeard1984 says... #24

Well RA_HORAKHTE, I definitely see the reason behind your combo. And providing you have the life (which is a resource after all), you have a really good chance to "go infinite". Seems like solid combo.

I personally play The Overlord as my commander as I like the consistency that the tutoring a ability provides. I have a Swiss army knife of Slivers lol.

Intruder Alarm is a great, but dangerous card. I tend to only play it when I am about to pop off. It does effect the whole board, and some decks will benefit from this greatly. Elves can really benefit from it with their insane mana generation.

BRAZATO says... #25

Doombeard1984 Yes, totally true, I've seen many games where Intruder Alarm helps to win other different player rather than it's owner, even granting them unspected infinite combos too hahaha. But I'll be fun testing it.
