Started off as Faceless Menace Morph deck, but I've heavily altered it. It's turned into an incredibly versatile control deck with answers for pretty much everything an opponent could throw at you, while also having many different ways to win.

The deck is practically in it's final form at this point but I'm still testing and and tweaking things until I'm perfectly content with it.

Not many people actually know how Morph and Manifest work, so here are some rulings that have come up in my games. Not all of them are super important but if you ever use this deck or Morph in general, make sure you AT LEAST know the first rule I've included. This first rule has caused a lot of problems because it's not intuitive, but it IS something that you can heavily abuse.

  • Turning a card face up is not an activated ability NOR does it go on the stack (see rule 702.36, it's actually a 'special action'). This means opponents cannot respond to flipping the creature. What they CAN respond to is the triggered abilities that go on the stack as a result of the creature being turned face up. As an example, your opponents cannot respond to Ainok Survivalist being flipped, but they can respond to it's ability that destroys an artifact or enchantment. This lets you get past split second as you aren't putting an activated ability on the stack. This also allows you to get past cards like Damping Matrix, as you aren't using an activated ability.

  • The 2/2 face down creatures created by morph and manifest are 'blank'. By that I mean they are colorless, have no name, no subtype, no text, and a CMC of . The only attributes that a face down creature has is that they are 1) a creature, and 2) have a power and toughness of 2/2

  • When you cast a morph creature face-down, you pay an alternative cost of and put a 'blank' 2/2 creature on the stack. While on the stack, all rules to normally apply to casting a creature apply to that morph creature

  • Flipping a creature does not make it re-enter the battlefield, it stays on the battlefield the entire time

  • You can only flip manifested cards if the face down card is a creature (Primordial Mist effectively gets around this)

  • If you manifest a card with a morph cost, you can flip it for it's morph cost

  • Copying a face-down creature does not copy the other side of the card. All you get is a 2/2 creature that can't do anything

  • Whenever a face-down creature leaves the battlefield for any reason (including the game ending), you HAVE to reveal it (this isn't just something you should do, this is literally written in the rules!)

  • It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that your opponents can tell the difference between your face down creatures. You obviously don't have to reveal them but make sure they know how/when each face-down creature got on the battlefield and answer any such questions your opponents might have about which one is which (again, this is actually in the rules!)

  • For any further questions, you can look at Rule 701.34 for Manifest rules, Rule 702.36 for Morph rules, and Rule 707 for Face-Down Spells and Permanents rules as well as individual card rulings on Gatherer.

This deck usually uses big combos to reach a win state, but there are many different tools that help you get those combo pieces. The two biggest pieces are Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer and Vesuvan Shapeshifter, so make sure you know how they work with the deck.

  • Be careful using Ixidron. It can easily bring the game to a halt without being able to win you the game. If you use it poorly, your play group will quickly grow to hate it. Only use it if you can win with it or if absolutely necessary

  • Rhystic Study would be amazing in this deck but I loath using that card so I haven't included it

  • Triumph of the Hordes and Cyclonic Rift would also be great in this deck but they are run too much in my play group so I opted not to add them
