THIS>IS>SPARTA!!!!!
Close enough. This is hell, or as Therosians would call it:
THE UNDERWORLD!!!
Its all fire and brimstone here, as we try to amass a devotion presence and cleanse our enemies with storms of fire! Fun stuff, right?
Big hitters abound here:
Stormbreath Dragon:
2 devotion, and he's an excellent mana sink and wincon all rolled into one. Oh yeah, and he doesn't die to Chained to the Rocks!
Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker:
2 devotion, also a great evasive and durable planeswalker
Flame-Wreathed Phoenix:
Budget Ash cloud phoenix. Two devotion, solid threat on its own, and has evasion/possible recursion.
Fanatic of Mogis:
More like fanatic of BOGUS! Amirite guys? This dude is so cheesy. I can't believe red devotion doesn't get more looks these days thanks to this guy. Now that a quality three drop AND two drop with double devotion have been spoiled, I think its time for the resurgence of mono red devotion/big burn.
Support Cards:
Lightning Strike:
A must in standard red decks these days. Just too good to kill early creatures that could become an issue later on. I'm looking at you, Goblin Rabblemaster.
Magma Jet:
Some people say red doesn't get any good card advantage. I just dare them to say that now that this, Chandra, and Outpost Siege exist. Card "draw" for red es muy delicioso.
Chandra, Pyromaster and Outpost Siege:
Both 'draw' us a lot of cards, which is nice because that helps us win. They also both double function as pingers.
Devotion "Mana Dorks":
1:
Monastery Swiftspear:
I know she doesn't do much in this deck because its not based on spells to trigger her, but I just like having a quick starting creature that helps me have an aggro "gear" depending on who I'm playing against. Getting a devotion out early also never hurts.
2:
Eidolon of the Great Revel and Mardu Scout:
These two are efficient aggro/burn cards and double function as incredible devotion dorks. Eidolon might hit us a few times, but I'll bet it hits them as well. And since they won't be as aggressive or explosive as we usually are, they won't be able to keep up.
3:
Flamewake Phoenix:
This card really seals the deal for this deck. Its nothing new; basically, they just brought back Chandra's Phoenix with big-creature-based recursion. Its really good.
Hammer of Purphoros:
Just a fun of in the main, but it can give us a hasty fanatic turn 4 for a really sudden kill shot. Its potentially 10 damage just on t4 and just from fanatic. That's not counting all the damage done on t1, t2, and t3 by support creatures.
Overall I'm just spitballing on here like I always do when I'm supposed to be doing schoolwork. But this deck looked fun in my head so I wanted to jot it down.
Hope you enjoy!
