I liked the deck idea, and i really could pull some victories during testing, but never milling... Mill is more like an alt wincon for a deck like this... Mirror entity (and the mana of the druid) does much more damage then the mill guy ...

We must play it differently then, I win with mill at least 60% of the time, but part of why I like it is that my opponent has to decide which allies they kill, since I usually mill at least 40 cards even when I lose or win with Aggro

well ... anyway, the important is that it is working ... have you discovered when does the counting of the allies occur? is it when the ability goes to the stack or during resolution? If its during resolution, you can abuse mirror entity even more when the non-allies are on the battlefield

The counting occurs as it comes into play. After the spell resolves.

Yes that's one of the reasons he's in there, among others. That can be particularly useful when milling or gaining life.

Have you ever considered Join the Ranks? It's 4 mana, but it gives you a double ally trigger. ;)

I forgot to say that too: at instant speed! :p

I have, and I've never really liked it. Personally feelings aside, there isn't a place for it in the deck, the only instants or sorceries are either path to exile, or cards that get me creatures. Any more would throw off the consistency, especially when I can rely on AEther Vial and Prophet of Kruphix to play at instant speed.

This deck would be around 20 bucks if it weren't for the sideboard and mana base...

Yep. Haha believe me, I've had the same thought.

That happens with a lot of decks. Happens with my bant blink deck too.

Ya good mana always murders a budget. Likely why the cheapest budget deck are mono colored.

Anyway OT, im digging the deck. Allies are pretty interesting

What would be the best land to replace Misty Rainforest with?

Femme_Fatale, I don't know if that was supposed to be a joke, but if it was, it was hilarious.

Well, it is like, $20 cheaper. Main point I want to display is that you really REALLY don't want to skimp out on the lands. Get those as soon as you can.

You definetly have to add more fetches.

Thanks for pointing that out, I actually hadn't looked at the mana base in awhile. It's been updated.

I also think, that two Cavern of Souls are enough.

JLenzen says... #20

I disagree. Everything in the deck is easy to cast, so the cavern doesn't hurt my curve. I usually name "Human", which covers all but Ondu Cleric, and allows me to use it for Prophet of Kruphix. The major point is that Cavern is the only card that allows me to succeed against control decks. If I just ran 2, I'd more than likely lose the one I play to a Ghost Quarter or something similar. The only reason I don't use 4 is for those rare games where I would draw 3 in my opening hand, but even those aren't bad to deal with.

The card just has very few drawbacks, and numerous advantages in a tribal deck like this.

You replaced Lead the Stampede with Collected Company but wouldn't getting rid of Tracker's Instincts make more sense you don't have any use for cards in your graveyard. and then you have 2 ways to get multiple creatures.

Femme_Fatale says... #22

Tracker's Instincts costs 2 and can be reused derickmoore25. Ignore the put into the grave thing, for the premises that make that not matter are the exact same reasons that you should never run mill cards unless you are dedicating to mill completely.

derickmoore25, I'm actually going to be experimenting with the two to find the best balance. As Femme_Fatale said, the 2 mana and reuse is why I kept it over Lead the Stampede for now. When playing Tracker's Instincts, I'll often hit a second one, putting it in my graveyard. Now I have 2 more creature filter effects in my graveyard to use when I need. I think I may use 1 Lead the Stampede with 3 Tracker's Instincts in the end, but we'll have to see.

I'm also experimenting with Chord of Calling as an alternate way to hit allies at instant speed. Thanks to Convoke and Harabaz Druid, it shouldn't hurt my curve too much, but that's another thing for testing.

Femme_Fatale, under normal circumstances I'd agree 100%. However, part of what makes this deck strong (and fun) is the inherent jankiness. Also the fact that 4 Excavators make mill very realistic in this deck (whereas 4 Glimpse the Unthinkable or other mill staples will not), is why I keep it around.

I can agree with you on the mill abilities yours is one of my favorite decks to test mine against on forge. I just wish the A.I. could figure out how to use Harabaz Druid.

Femme_Fatale says... #25

Allies is an exception in that it is more like combo mill. You build up your pieces for protection and then just slap down an Excavator plus some 3 other allies and call it a day.
