NuBByThuMB: This is an example of a deck that I'd like to make if I had more money :P

This pretty well exactly what I think mono-white knights should look like.Except perhaps the Darksteel Citadel s but I can see why they were included. Puresteel Paladin is pretty damn nuts.

Minus swords and vials, I feel like this deck is super cheap to build. Hell, the average cost of this deck is just north of $400 on tcgplayer. I'd say that's pretty damn solid for modern.

A collection starts one card at a time, my friend. And a collection is NEVER satisfied. Keep plugging away card by card. Eventually you WILL get to this point and then once you get past this point. you will be looking even further into the future and hoping for Stoneforge Mystic s and Batterskull s. It's a vicious cycle, my friend. You're either aware of it and embrace it, or let it drag you under.

nosoyyucateco: What do you think of this deck? It's not something that I could immediately purchase, but I'd work towards it as a goal. It's kind of my 'dream knight deck'.

Tyrannosary, I'd love to hear what you think as well.

NuBByThuMB, what do you think of the touch-up?

Hey.Wouldnt it be a good idea too maybe remove the brave of the elements as if i get the whole idea is to put all thoose swords on your knight that makes all the other knights indestructable and then use something to protect your artifacts.

I dont know much about the modern format so cant really comment any deeper :P

Ryddenn: The main issue is that artifacts tend to be hard to protect, with things like Shattering Spree existing.

In a full, affinity artifact deck, Darksteel Forge helps with that, but I do not have enough artifacts in this deck to warrant it's inclusion. Maybe I'll take out Brave the Elements for Apostle's Blessing , or throw in a few Indomitable Archangel . Any suggestions?

Looks great. Since you're going all out in terms of budget, you might want to think about adding Cavern of Souls to your mana base. It's an insanely overpriced card, but it would make this deck a beast, and would probably even be a better choice than the Darksteel Citadel .

With only 9 artifacts, you might have a hard time benefiting from Puresteel Paladin . Some Door of Destinies might help you reach that 3 artifact goal, and would beef up your knights really well. For a 4-drop it can be risky, but it can also pay off in a big way. It's better than Cathars' Crusade in a tribal deck.

Some other cards you might want to think about are Knightly Valor , Riftmarked Knight , Security Blockade , and maybe even Waylay for casual play. Those would be especially useful if you added Door of Destinies .

I feel like you might want to add a few more artifacts to help trigger Puresteel Paladin more often. Lightning Greaves might be one that you could consider because of its 0 equip cost. As for Cavern of Souls I wouldn't recommend adding a full playset, but 2 copies would be pretty good in this deck. Finally, I feel like Sun Titan is too expensive for modern play, do you ever feel like it is a dead draw?

nosoyyucateco: I actually pulled a Cavern of Souls from a Dragon's Maze pack a week back, so that won't be such a money drain! I'm going to keep Darksteel Citadel in the deck, because it adds to the Puresteel Paladin 's count. Door of Destinies is a great card, but a bit slow for this deck. I'd much rather just play another Sword. Because of this, I'm not to into the idea of spamming the Knight tokens. It's not a bad strategy, but this deck is more focused on the caveman mentality of "Equip Sword, Beat Face." I have a question, though: I decided to take out Sun Titan and Kinsbaile Cavalier and Brave the Elements for Indomitable Archangel and Lightning Greaves . Was this a good move, you think?

PlattBonnay: As it so happens, I playtested this deck over the weekend, and I found that as much as I liked Sun Titan , it did feel like a dead drop about 60-70 percent of the time. Of course, the times where it worked, it was extremely overbearing for the opponent. However, the consistency was not there, so I decided to take it out for more artifact defense with the addition of Indomitable Archangel . With her, I also added Lightning Greaves , which completes an infinite shroud loop. I took out not only Sun Titan though, but Kinsbaile Cavalier . Do you think this was a good move?

Also: Should I just take out AEther Vial ? It speeds up the deck a little, but I'm not sure that I need it for the artifact buff, as I have 16 total. It's slot might be better served with Apostle's Blessing .

cyeRunner: Thanks for the +1!

Emeria, The Sky Ruin is a good card, but not so much in the Modern format. Modern tends to be a turn-5 format, and while Emeria has quite a useful ability, it is more of a "win-more" card. Drawing it late will not help me much if I am behind, and it will slow me down if I draw it early- especially since not all of my lands can be counted as plains (Darksteel Citadel ).

Stoneforge Mystic to speed your swords onto your paladins

TEGHabibird: Stoneforge Mystic is unfortunately not Modern legal, or she would already be in the deck. Thank you for the suggestion!

Maybe sideboard a Disenchant or two to help with pod, affinity, and twin matchups?

Also, I don't think you should take out AEther Vial , as it dodges countermagic, as well as let's you flash in blockers or new threats at the end of their turn.

June 29, 2014 9:42 a.m.

slovakattack says... #17

PlattBonnay: Then should I just leave as is, and not try to fit in Apostle's Blessing or Brave the Elements as well? I also really like what Kinsbaile Cavalier could do for the deck, e.g allow all the knights to double-proc the sword effects, not just Mirran Crusader . It just seems like the deck is a tad... bloated, at the moment., and I'm not sure what to cut.

June 29, 2014 11:11 a.m.

slovakattack says... #18

PlattBonnay: I'm not saying AEther Vial isn't good or useful- there's a reason it's 20 bucks. But should I just throw in another few Cavern of Souls to dodge counters, and add +1 of each sword, or some protection? RIght now, I feel a little light on Swords- which are the entire point of the deck- and having to wait for the Angel for artifact protection irks me.

i dont have a problem with this deck i think it is good +1

PlattBonnay says... #20

I think if you're looking to cut creatures, drop Fiendslayer Paladin . It is alright, but I don't think that it does enough for its cost. Doing that would make room for a 4th Mirran Crusader and then either other equipments or maybe Steelshaper's Gift so you can fetch the one that you need at the time. I think that being able to play your creatures at instant speed is really good, but you could probably drop aether vial to a 2 of rather than 3. I think that apostles blessing would almost always be worse than brave the elements, but finding room for 2 or 3 copies of one could be useful.

June 29, 2014 2:44 p.m.

slovakattack says... #21

PlattBonnay: Dropping Fiendslayer is pretty much what I was thinking, although I do so love his flavor. Such badass art.

What do you think of -3 Fiendslayer Paladin and -1 AEther Vial for +1 Mirran Crusader and... do you think that throwing in a few Kinsbaile Cavalier would help? They might make the deck a tad mana-heavy, but the ability to give all my knights double strike...

Or how about just throwing in 3 Brave the Elements ? It's a classic card, and it's very difficult to go wrong with it- especially since once T4 rolls around, all my artifacts will most likely have shroud.

I like Steelshaper's Gift a lot, but do you think it's worth it at the expense of 3 Brave the Elements or more powerful knights, or simply more swords? I could add another 1 to all my swords, too.

June 29, 2014 2:58 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #22

I think brave the elements is a better addition than the double strike knight. As for Steelshaper's Gift, I personally like it because it is essentially another copy of every equipment in your deck for 1 white mana more. Because you've got a couple options in terms of equipment, you don't always want the same sword for every game.

June 29, 2014 3:07 p.m.

slovakattack says... #23

PlattBonnay: Good points, (although the double strike knight means that -all- my knights have double strike, which is quite another matter entirely.) you're doing a good job on selling me Steelshaper's Gift. If there's one thing I like in my decks, it's consistency. So the question becomes: Steelshaper's Gift or Brave the Elements ?

June 29, 2014 3:29 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #24

I don't think that you would need many copies of Steelshaper's Gift , just one or two at the most. Assuming you have room for one more playset of cards I would say split it 1 and 3 for gift and brave respectively. I personally play just a singleton copy in my modern tempo deck: Delver Tempo as a third copy of one of my swords.

June 29, 2014 3:45 p.m.

slovakattack says... #25

PlattBonnay: Not a huge fan of singletons, but it isn't so bad if I just look at it as another sword draw. I wouldn't mind kicking the other 2 Aether Vials for 2 more Steelshaper's Gift though, honestly. With the 4 artifact lands I have, right now I have 15 artifacts, and since Steelshaper's Gift is an artifact tutor, that's more than enough to reliably proc Puresteel Paladin 's ability. I like the idea of getting the swords out faster and sooner, and being able to tutor for the ones I need.

That being said, I do not actually own a playset of Aether Vials nor have I played against them, and have never experienced just how effective they are first hand, so I may be mentally downgrading them without realizing it.
