Now that we have Abrupt Decay, Counterbalance and Trinisphere are a bit less of a threat, but still a problem. I thought I would ditch blue altogether for black's incredible fetch capabilities at the cost of sacrificing my Academy Rector. Phyrexian Tower makes me able to get Aluren or Rector out on turn 2. Once I hit 4 sources I can sacrifice my Birds or Cobra for any piece of the combo I need. Grand Abolisher to shut out/lure the counterspells and once it resolves I'm safe from Umezawa's Jitte and everything else. I am still considering Veteran explorer in place of the cobra. Leylines of Lifeforce and Sanctity on the sideboard for the counter/pox decks. Harmonic Sliver for more removal.
