Purphoros, God of Fun! —Aug. 10, 2014

Picked up a Purphoros, God of the Forge yesterday and switched him out for an Izzet Charm. Izzet charm as helped a bit, but it usually ends up doing a lot of nothing. I also got a playset of the FNM promo Dissolve So I switched out the ones I had and added in a fourth in place of the second Izzet Charm. Purphoros won me the game every time I got him out, but I only placed fifth due to a draw because of time, and a 0-2 loss against my worst matchup, a perfectly tuned Red Deck Wins. I also placed sixth at a modern FNM which was surprising seeing as how this is a standard deck. So overall, it's doing fairly good. At least I'm placing now.

Thanks for the +1! I really dig your build here and after the terrible showing at the qualifier this weekend I completely changed mine around. I'm basically running UW control and splashing red for Keranos, God of Storms (I suggest you try at least 1 of main) & sideboard options. How has Mizzium Mortars worked in the main?

@ Macdman11

Mainboard Mizzium Mortars has seemed to be working out. It is really nice to be able to very quickly in the early turns of the game as well as later. The main issue is it cannot sadly be used as a combat trick (unless you're running Quicken or something.). There is also the fact that it doesn't gain life (as opposed to Warleader's Helix .). But, for the most part, it seems pretty good. I haven't been able to playtest too too much after adding them in, but I got some value kills with them. I'm just waiting to be able to mess someone up with the overload.

As for Keranos, God of Storms , I'm probably going to main one, the only problem with that is A.) I need something to take out; that won't be too hard, and B.) I actually need to get my hands on one. This list I have here is actually the deck I own, so I'm keeping him in the maybeboard until i get my hands on one.

Thanks for the feedback!
