Welcome to my tutelage brew!I'm just going to be giving a quick rundown on why all of the card are here that are currently in my list.
For starters, we have
Sphinx's Tutelage
.
This card is the meat of the deck. Without this card, this deck would be absolutely nothing more than a pile of decent and bad rares. This card MILLS THEM WHEN I DRAW CARDS!! AND It has a (fairly crappy) card draw of it's own! It's the meat and bones of any deck currently in standard that wants to mill the opponent. Especially with GW Humans, Mono W, B/R Vamps, and a lot of the other decks that are running 1-2 colors, this cards ability to continually trigger is an absolute house.
Fevered Visions
This card is REALLY silly, and it may seem like a really bad card for this deck, but i can guarantee that it can be an ABSOLUTE house. The fact that i'm drawing both on the beginning and end of my turn, set's up more opportunities for Ojutiai's Commands, along with Magmatic Insight and Torementing Voice. It is a very good card, both for triggering my wincon and for possibly dealing damage to the opponent. Over all, i'd say this card is more in the deck because i like the card, and not necessarilly because it will win me games. I think the card is very cool, and having one or two of them on the board along with my tutelage is an extremely hilarious win condition.
Alhammarret's Archive
This card is another WinCon fueler, on it's own. It can double the amount of cards i'm drawing, which makes my Tormenting Voices/Magmatic Insights hit the opponents like trucks. Along with that, if i'm ever in a very sticky siutation, it can double the amount of life that Linvala will be gaining me, which could sure be useful in a pinch. Overall, i don't think this card merits much value as more-than-a-one-of, but i think it is a fantastic one of.
Linvala, the Preserver
This card is another house. This card can absolutely save you games by giving you back a fourth of your life total or possibly even another blocker. Like I mentioned with the archive, Ten points of life gain is definitely welcome, along with being a decent blocker and a flier if things do go south.
Declaration in Stone
The Aggro Hoser! This card is an extremely good card coming from our new set, and can easily hose down some aggro decks just by taking two or three of their beaters out at the same time. This card does have a noticeable downside, and this card CAN give your opponents more fuel. But if they pop the clues and draw more cards, then that does benefit me in making my Tutelage do it's job easier. Overall, this card is a fantastic card and will do exactly what i need it to do.
Fiery Impulse
This card is in here because it can also help with aggro, because aggro is what i'm mainly worried about fighting. This allows me to burn down a lot of early one and two drops, and should help me stabilize until i can drop a radiant flames or hit my WinCons/Linvala.
Radiant Flames
See Above, this card is purely here so that i can clear up the board early and hope to live long enought to do what i need to do. It's basically not something that needs to be explained anymore, I just need them to live.
Tormenting Voice
/
Magmatic Insight
Basically, these cards are the fuel for my win condition and can come to explosive winning conditions. Along with
Fevered Visions
, these cards can draw me more and force my opponent to be milling more than they would like to. I don't mind the additional cost of discarding, because like i said, i will be gaining all of those cards back at one point or another. These cards and part of my win conditions.
Ojutai's Command
This card is one of the best commands in my opinion, due to the sheer fact that it is just a bad cryptic. And a bad Cryptic, is always good. This card allows me to counter out threats while either fueling my tutelage or gaining me life so i can stabilize the board.
Confirm Suspicions
This card is kind of bad. This card will not win me as many games as it should, and it should probably just be a three drop counterspell instead, BUT, if i can have one of these in my hands, counter a threat, and then use the clues to fuel my tutelage, it has definitely done it's job. That's why it's in here. A five drop counter isn't necessarilly good, but in this case i do believe it's not necessarilly bad.
Nahiri, the Harbinger
This card serves the same purpose as many of the other card drawing spells in the deck, except she also doubles as removal and can be a way to find my Linvala if some poor soul let's me ult this monster of a card. I don't believe Nawhoha has many good decks to be in right now with how standard is currently looking, but i do believe she can do a great job in my brew here.
Narset Transcendent
Another great card for this deck, her plus one can fuel my hand because i will rarely be hitting a creature or land card with it, and can grab me an Ojutai's, another draw spell, or my bomb of a counter spell. Her -2 can be used to rebound one of my draw spells or give me a second Ojutai's, and that is a very relevant ability. Her ultimate, which would rarely be used, could still be great just for the sheer fact of blowing out a control matchup.
SIDEBOARD
I'm not going to go into as much detail here with the sideboard, because it's not necessarilly as hard to understand.
Dispel / Negate
Control matchups, good for making sure i can resolve my spells.
Angelic Purge
/
Planar Outburst
I'm not too sure about Angelic Purge, may be replace with Roast. Planar Outburst is in the deck for midrange fights, along with the second copy of Linvala.
Silkwrap
/ Ojutai's Command
Those are in there for both the Jund Midrange matchup and the aggro fight, along with the two extra copies of Ojutai's Command being useful for most situations.
Thanks for reading everybody! Please do leave some Comments, Concerns, and general criticism and i would love to see what all of you think of my homebrew.
Thanks!
