"Fatigue is the best pillow." -- Benjamin Franklin

American Pillowfort

I was looking for something fun to play at rotation and had a thought:

How can I surprise people and make them as frustrated as possible at the same time? The answer is less than surprising: it's a pillow fort.

Now, it's not quite as solid as your general enchantress deck but it does do plenty to keep itself stable until you're able to basically lock down the game, get your wincons going and just swing in. I've been playtesting it against a lot of decks and actually fair pretty well. Aggro is probably it's best matchup simply because it's set up for it. The sideboard cleans up control a bit more. Let's take a look:

ENCHANTMENTS

How to lock down the board state.

  • Sphere of Safety: The main card in this deck that is strictly there to anger your opponents and help you set up your wincons. Nothing is more frustrating to an aggro player than having nothing to deal with two Sphere of Saftey in play at the same time.
  • Chained to the Rocks: One of my favorite cards from Theros. It's really cheap and it exiles but requires a mountain. Since we need those for other stuff in the deck anyway and coming by them isn't too difficult in the deck.
  • Detention Sphere: I miss Oblivion Ring already, but this will do just nicely.
  • Assemble the Legion: The first and most obvious of your three mainboard wincons. Once it gets going, it gets stupid.

CREATURES

  • Heliod, God of the Sun is an enchantment, a 5/6 and an enchantment factory all by himself! What isn't there to like about this guy? He is the most obvious choice for this deck's creature base and due to size restraints the only one we can fit in the deck.
  • Purphoros makes this deck even better. He'll never actually go off from devotion but he will make your token generation lethal. Every +1 from Elspeth or Cleric token or Assemble trigger is a shock for each one.

WALKERS

  • Elspeth fills out our awesome high-drop slot as a token maker, a sweeper and an all around great walker. Once she's in play you're not too far away from bashing people down pretty quickly or saving your bacon from unnecessary pain.

SPELLS

Draw, Dig, Sweep, Control. Repeat.

  • Azorius Charm: The best blue draw spell. It really hurts to say that right now. That said, it's probably the best charm in Standard because it really does not have a bad mode. We mainly use this to draw, but also to throw creatures on top of our opponents decks. In a pinch, giving lifelink is a solid idea.
  • Izzet Charm: We mainly use this to dig but it can be a useful counter against spells we really don't want to see. The shock value on this is limited at best but still can help a bit if we have what we need in hand.
  • Sphinx's Revelation: Still the best UW card in the format, arguably the best blue card in standard.
  • Supreme Verdict: Creatures are jerks. So why bother with them? We need this early game (and sometimes mid-late) in order to keep our board state clean enough to set up our wincons.

HOW TO PLAY

Early Game: keep the board clear and set up for spheres and other wincons by flooding the board with enchantments.

Midgame: Find your wincons and get pumping with those weenies! You win when your opponent is either dead or fed up with your deck.

I've had a lot of fun building and playtesting this deck. Please feel free to add any suggestions below!
