Another thing yo may want to add one Emrakul, the Promised End for that Nahiri, The Harbringer ability as well

Hamster2558 I don't know about splashing green for oath of nissa, because I have never really had a problem with my mana fixing. But I am certainly adding that Emrakul. Thank you for the +1 and the suggestions!

Hey, thanks for the suggestion on my deck. As for critiquing yours...

Oath of Chandra isn't a great card even in planeswalker decks, the effect is minor and it generally just isn't great removal. I would consider running only one or two.

Dragon Fodder while making chumpers is nice for defendingw walkers, this just isn't an effective card. There are better ways to defend a planeswalker.

I would recommend using a couple Gisela, the Broken Blade, first strike and life link are very useful for survivability and she is a great planeswalker defender.

Kozilek's Return is a great sideboard piece for anti aggro and since there is an emrakul in your deck you can get the cast from grave trigger for extra value.

Deploy the Gatewatch wont do enough with just 10 walkers. Most of the time it hits absolutely nothing, and to hit 2 pw's is a fading dream. So I'd ditch it along with Oath of Gideon, since you will be protecting your pw's with counterspells allready.

Some cards you might want to consider: Goblin Dark-Dwellers to play your removal again, Bruna, the Fading Light for obvious synergy with gisela, but to also for bringing back any creature (GD-D for example), Stasis Snare for some instant speed unconditional removal, Turn Aside for ONE MANA PROTECTION to any of your permanents.

Also i consider sarkhan way better for your deck than narset.

n4pesto. Thank you for your comments. Right now, im thinking of getting rid of Oath of Gideon because it hasn't done too much for me. However, Deploy the Gatewatch at a one of has done great for me so far. I have yet to cast it and NOT hit something, so for now I think I'll keep it in, but still just as a one-of. I am going to add Bruna but by the way it only brings back humans or angels, so Goblin Dark-Dwellers would be off-limits. However, I will think of adding GD-D. As for removal, I think I might be good on that for now, with the 4xDeclarations, 3xFiery Impulse, 2xKozilek's return, as well as Chandra, Jace, and Nahiri. I will playtest Turn Aside and see how it does compared to something like negate or clash of wills.

Also, Sarkhan is not in my colors

n4pesto says... #8

Oh bummer. I recalled sarkhan was RU, and totally forgot the human/angel clause of bruna.

What comes into your removal backage, you have quite an wide set. However, there's a lot of creatures, that you might want answer for ASAP and can't kill them by damage. Emrakul being the topmost threat.

I see you've already added some cards from the new set, just a friendly fyi.. when those cards are legal Fiery Impulse, Hydrolash, and Act of Treason will not be standard legal.

Just something to keep in mind going forward here.

Maybe add some Spirebluff Canal because it's a u/r land

primtj17 says... #12

NippDip I was thinking about adding Spirebluff Canal, but I think I already have my mana base pretty well balanced, so that would be a little unnecessary. However, if in the future I start running into situations where I would have wanted a Spirebluff Canal instead of a Prairie Stream or Inspiring Vantage, I will be sure to rethink my decision.

Deploy the Gatewatch, although a fun card, is a wasted card slot in this deck.

primtj17 says... #14

Bovine073 While I love having Deploy the Gatewatch in here, I do admit that there could be better cards in that slot. What would you suggest I play instead, I have been thinking about putting in Combustible Gearhulk instead, but there are many other cards that I could use as well.

Bovine073 says... #15

That was actually one of the first cards I had thought of, didn't see it on the maybeboard so I was hesitant to suggest it. I can see it doing a lot of work in this deck.

I am actually going to try two things. One will be taking out the Cataclysmic Gearhulk and Deploy the Gatewatch for 2x Spell Queller. Since this deck is already leaning towards control, this will help even more. The other thing I will playtest is taking out only the Deploy the Gatewatch for Combustible Gearhulk. This will add card advantage and burn.

i wonder how a silly deck like this gets scores here. how the heck can one play incendiary flow over harnessed lightning? this game is a luckers bunch of.. whatever. 2 of this 2 of this and hope we hit a curve without having one. lulz!

doctaBernau I fail to see why having a toolbox-like approach to a deck is silly. In a deck like this, its all about getting value out of a bunch of 1-for-1's and 1-for-2's. Incendiary Flow is by far a better play than Harnessed Lightning in this deck. It hits both creatures and players (including planeswalkers), and also exiles the creatures it kills. Finally, considering this deck went 3-1 and 4-0 in two consecutive FNM's, and also kicks butt in competitive playteseting, I would call this a successful build. But hey, what am I saying; toxic and useless comments are always helpful!

itachi45 Thank you very much for your upvote. Do you have any suggestions that you might like to point out?

Actually, I really like that idea of Unsubstantiate. I used it before in one of my earlier EMN decks but I completely forgot about it. Thats actually perfect for early game creature and spell control. I think I'll try it out. As for Oath of Gideon, however, I had that in an earlier version of the deck, but I ended up dropping it because it just didn't do enough for me. Especially with the more controlling way the deck is going now, I don't think it has a place in here anymore. Thank you for your advise. It was definitely not irrelevant, and it was greatly appreciated!

Nice looking deck. Have you considered Animation Module? It can add loyalty counters to planeswalkers, getting you to the ults much quicker.

October 11, 2016 9:55 a.m.

primtj17 says... #23

PatScar I feel that Animation Module is a little too slow for this deck. There are not many open slots in this deck right now, and having an artifact that does nothing for most of the time is not very efficient. If I had more things focused on +1/+1 counters I would consider it, but for now I don't think I can.

+1 looks like a super fun deck to play! Have you thought about adding Saheeli Rai the -2 she has would combo great with your Nahiri/emakrul combo you have going or combo her with your combustible.

Anyways cool deck!

primtj17 says... #25

sandfrog Thank you so much for the upvote! Saheeli Rai is a card I had in an earlier version of this deck. However, since then I have taken out many of the creatures I had in this deck. Now, the only targets I have for her -2 are Goblin Dark-Dwellers and Combustible Gearhulk. Her +1 is kind of helpful, but it just seems like a less powerful version of Chandra, Torch of Defiance's. But, I am willing to try her again. Do you have any suggestions of what I could take out to fit her in?
