It’s incredible how almost every comment i’ve had so far was able to raise valid points. From the content of the deck to the primer, thank you to everyone who have contributed and are still actively contributing here.

Lil_Kalki I must admit I have paid little attention to the land base since the orginial draft. I will take a good look at it and do a bit more playtesting to see just how much I need and what cards can be replaced to accomodate your suggestions. I am quite fond of the Rishadan pack and feel I need all 3 to consistently get at least one of them to start “staxing” away. But then again, you may be right so I really need to do a lot of playtesting as soon as C18 is rekeased. The lack of Scalding Tarn was just an oversight but thank you for pointing it out.

I think this deck really breathes the flavor of the scary little girl, that is Aminatou. I am surprised you aren't running Palinchron or Peregrine Drake for the mana ramp with the flicker.

Thanks! I was really hoping to bring in some of the creepy 8-year old planeswalker child vibe.

I had Peregrine Drake before but it doesn’t really do much outside the infinite mana combo which also doesn’t win the game outright. The same goes with Palinchron.

interesting deck! I would take out chain of smog, that card is fairly terrible. I would replace it with literally any interaction card like swan song or swords to plowshares

check out my version of the deck !

I actually like Chain of Fog. It has a good chance of wrecking hands which puts us in a great advantage assuming we already have some stax pieces in play. People tend to not break the chain until everyone is out of cards to discard. Lol

shadowmage says... #6

that literally makes no sense. why would you want to risk losing your own hand lol if you want to make people discard their hands, i would play something way better than that like notion thief + windfall or something. than your opponents will have no cards in hand and you will have a ton of cards

I did have Notion Thief and Windfall in the earlier iterations of the deck but it (the deck) simply isn’t fast enough to really maximize Windfall without Notion Thief which is also underwhelming without enough wheels or forced card-draw effects.

We never use Chain just to discard hands. We use it to permanently gain board advantage after setting up a couple of stax pieces in play.

I can only vouch for Azor, the Lawbringer as a lategame stax piece, that do exactly what it's supposed to do :-) and Blind Obedience for the competitive matchups that outright outperforms because of speed and consistency. And because of extort it slowly by steadily drains your opponents.

I was also looking at Azor after seeing it in other lists. I am just unsure if I still have room for it. Blind Obedience is already in the list. Thank you!

Another card you can add to get the combo with the Aminatou, the Fateshifter + Panharmonicon + Felidar Guardian is Sunscorched Desert

Ikeno - I will put that under consideration. Thanks!

I am curious as to why you are running Parallax Tide in the deck. Is it for mana, or land control? If so, why not use another mana rock or something? Other than that, I like the deck and used some of the ideas in building mine.

PUNCHINGTON the Tide is supposed to give me targetted land removal. When used with Archaeomancer and Ghostly Flicker, it can become quite devastating. Outside of that, it might seem underwhelming. I am considering adding back in Armageddon to replace it.

I might be missing something. Ghostly flicker only hits creatures, artifacts and lands. What's the method for using that along with Archaeomancer and Tide to ruin your opponents lands? I'm curious, because I would like to do that too.

You’re right. Thank you! I really should pay more attention to text boxes. Lol. I’ll be removing the card until I can find a dependable way to flicker it. Any suggestions on what I can add? I don’t think I need more mana rocks.

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is either adding OG Flicker into the mix for any permanent. Or, run Flickerwisp and Eldrazi Displacer to do it once a turn.

I just added Necropotence which I think gives a lot of raw power to the deck. I am thinking of replacing one of the Rishadan creatures with Hostage Taker or Gonti, Lord of Luxury.

PUNCHINGTON says... #18

Both are great additions and I have them in my deck. They both fulfill similar roles, but I prefer Hostage Taker for pure value. Gonti for me is more of an infinite flicker wincon, while Taker is better at on board resource denial.

I can't help but feel like Lightning Greaves is a wasted card here. You only have 16 creatures and none of them really benefit from the haste.

On another note. Necropotence seems amazing. I might have to add that to mine.

True. Brago is the sole reason I included it in here. I wanted to take it out several times but I just can’t see Brago being able to swing without it.

I wanted to let you know that I purchased the stax cards within budget, as I want to explore how well Aminatou handles it, and it is a playstyle that I am uncomfortable with. Thanks for your inspiration and comment on my deck, friend. Have a good one!

Megalomania says... #22

Duly noted. What about it felt uncomfortable though? I would love to hear your experience and maybe make adjustments of my own.

August 23, 2018 7:48 a.m.

Only that I have never played stax. It's new to me. I'll let you know how it went.

Wow, this is a lot meaner than my list :)

I don't have a ton of experience with Stax, so I really don't have any suggestions. And Aminatou seems different than the majority of Stax decks (Since most Stax commanders are just cards that untap things, Derevi, Empyrial Tactician or Teferi, Temporal Archmage.

But thanks for reminding me about Parallax Wave. That seems pretty good in my list, since it can take out blockers or just blink 5 of my creatures with a single Aminatou -1.

The cumulative upkeep cards are really clever. Mystic Remora that I can reset whenever I want? Sounds great!

How has Trial of Knowledge played? Repeatable Sift isn't bad, but maybe Oath of Jace is better? Makes you discard 2 instead of 1, but it is a mana cheaper and Scrys on upkeep for 1, even with just Aminatou out

RazortoothMtg thanks! Glad you like it. Feel free to hit that upvote button. Lol.

Tbh, I hardly get to play (draw) Trial of Ambition so it’s hard to say how much better or worse it is compared to OoJ. I would like to think the additional card I get to keep is enough justification to run it over Oath but I just might revert back to using Oath because of the cost.
