Blinkmoth Well can help you get around suffering from your own Winter Orb in the event need or want to reduce the mana rocks.

mystakai that is an interesting suggestion. Thanks! Do you see any card in the list that is worth replacing? There are still so many cards that would fit really well in the deck. I’m looking for ones that could provide the most value and Tezz just might be one of those.

IvyLeaguerCU Indeed it can. The problem with Blinkmoth Well is that it will take up one slot in the deck for the sole purpose of tapping Winter Orb. Thank you for the suggestion though.

I would look to cut some of the weaker early game blink targets. Flickering Wall of Omens is not that exciting. Also, I'm not a big fan of Soothsaying. It's too expensive maybe all three Rishadan creatures are too many as well.

Wall of Omens actually helps keep Aminatou from getting attacked early in the game. I do feel that I have one too many scry creatures so Omenspeaker might be on its way out.

I agree with your thoughts about Soothsaying. It has been underwhelming.

I do plan on eventually replacing Rishadan Cutpurse but having all three seems fine atm.

Again, thank you for your insights.

@megolomania I actually have found soothsaying to be pretty great. To note, if you get inifinte mana and don't have the payoff yet, you can use soothsaying to look for any card in your deck since you pay X.

blindes1984 It’s not bad but considering how the deck is stacked with 1-5 drops, I hardly get to use its X or the shuffle ability. But until I find something more useful, I think i’ll keep it.

Since you are looking for a way to smooth out the early game, I would recommend Propaganda and Ghostly Prison. Norn's Annex is a fairly decent overlooked card that hits non-white players pretty hard.

Also, Pendrell Mists. I get that most of you hate is permanent based, but this card is also really good and pretty overlooked. Also, Kataki, War's Wage for the same reason.

Land Equilibrium and Mana Vortex?

Thank you for the suggestions. Aside from the deck already being very heavy on 3 drops, I don’t think Propaganda and Ghostly Prison helps me much since they don’t prevent people from attacking Aminatou. I am also hesistant to use Pendrell Mists and Kataki but I will try to find slots for Mana Vortex and Norn’s Annex.

Do you see any cards that don’t seem to fit the deck though?

I think Soothsaying is pretty underwhelming. As well as maybe Altar of the Brood?

I’m with you on Soothsaying. As much as i’ve tried to take Altar out, it continues to be the deck’s easiest path to victory.

I hope this isn’t too general a question. Mass land destruction is new to me. What happens when someone removes your mana rocks? Or does that not matter since you can use Emeria Shepherd to get back the lands you blew up?

The MLD components are recent additions so I have yet to experience being hit with something like Shattering Spree or Bane of Progress after casting an MLD spell. It will definitely be a problem but it is not something I don’t think i’ll encounter often enough to warrant adjustments.

Is Venser the Sojourner just for general ETB value? I'm not sure I see it's potency.

Megalomania says... #15

In theory, yes. It is mainly there to ETB permanents. In actual gameplay though, it gets to use its -8 quite often. But I don’t think it is essential to the deck’s strategy. If you have better flicker effects, that would be okay. Some people use Conjurer's Closet but I chose Venser since he allows me to reset Aminatou.

The deck looks really good man in all honesty im having a hard time suggesting cards. The only two that I can think of and you probably get them suggested to you all the time is Conjurer's Closet and Detection Tower/Glaring Spotlight. The closet helps with creature etb's and the other two help if your opponent is using cards like Asceticism.

If you got time I have a similiar deck focused on etb's though mine is pretty standard compared to yours.

Thanks! Don't forget to upvote if you like the deck. :)

The Closet is an okay card but I think I have enough flicker effects in the deck already. I would prefer instant speed flicker effects if ever I felt the need to add more. I'll try to look at your list in a bit.

I suggest something like Soul Warden or Suture Priest?

And how screwed are you once Felidar Guardian is gone?

Great question! Tbh, I never really thought about it that much. Without the Guardian, i’ll probably just use Archaeomancer and flicker effects to repeatedly trigger ETB abilities to help keep opponents locked out of the game. We can also use Eldrazi Displacer + Leonin Relic-Warder and Parallax Wave. Then there are also loops that use Altar of the Brood to mill opponents out. I guess the deck has an abundance of win cons outside Felidar Guardian. I just like it because it is the win con which requires the least number of pieces to go off.

Tbh this is an amazing deck! Totally going to refer to this for inspiration! However, I can't help but wonder how the deck can work it's way around stax cards such as winter orb/ tangle wire etc as it effects yourself too. Seems amazing though!

September 28, 2018 11:16 a.m.

darker says... #21

Are you using the displacer to flicker leonin at instant speed to exile your opponents stuff forever? I’ve been looking for a way to run that loop without using cards I normally wouldn’t bother with.

darker

Yes. I was also on the fence about using Leonin Relic-Warder but seeing I could use it with the Displacer to permanently exile stuff I decided to try it and it has been working nicely.

Thanks! Feel free to hit that upvote button sny time. Lol.

The deck has 16 mana rocks so it is able to effectively insulate itself from cards like Winter Orb and Mana Vortex. The deck also has a lot of low cmc creatures and artifacts which allows it to maintain its momentum even with Tangle Wire in play.

another addition that may be worth considering would be Phyrexian Metamorph since you are already running Leonin Relic-Warder. If you play the phyrexian metamorph copying the leonin relic warder its etb trigger allows phyrexian metamorph to exile itself and its leave the battlefield trigger will bring the phyrexian metamorph back giving you another infinite ETB loop

DrowZgam3r

That is certainly worth considering. I'll see if I can still fit the metamorph in the deck. I'm not quite sure what I can remove to slot it in yet as the current setup is working quite well.
