The blackest night falls from the skies

The darkness grows as all light dies

We crave your hearts and your demise

By my black hand, the dead shall rise! You're now in command of an army of the undead!!! Congratulations! Before you begin, here are a few things that you might need to know.

First of all, this deck has a heavy focus on reanimation effects, thanks to your commander, The Scarab God. In fact, he is so good at reanimation that many of your creatures will come back stronger than they were when they first died! Pretty nifty, huh? However, this also makes it so that some of your creatures may come back smaller than they were originally, which is why we're mainly running creatures that have amazing effects, such as Custodi Lich, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and even one of our trump cards, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, who will come back weaker when reanimated by the Scarab God, but the change will not be drastic, and the effect will still lock down our opponents rather nicely. On top of our commander, we also run Animate Dead and Victimize as additional reanimation methods that will bring back our beefier targets, such as It That Betrays, and cards like Entomb, Ancient Excavation, Mesmeric Orb, and Buried Alive to place our reanimation targets into the graveyard in the first place.

Second, we run a great deal of Zombies to capitalize on the second effect of our commander, gradually draining our opponents down to withered husks. To aid in this matter, we have the traditional swarm cards, such as Endless Ranks of the Dead, Army of the Damned, Diregraf Colossus, and Noosegraf Mob, the latter two of which also double as decent reanimator targets. All of the above mentioned cards can produce decent amounts of smaller zombie tokens. Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Overseer of the Damned also bolster our forces by converting our opponents' creatures into Zombie tokens when they inevitably fall. Kalitas can even use these new recruits to boost himself and making himself an even bigger threat to our foes. We also run Liliana, Death's Majesty as our lone planeswalker, as she can not only make zombies, as well, but place reanimator targets in the graveyard and reanimate them, as well! The final part of this aspect of the deck are the multitudes of Zombie lords, which all boost the power levels of our hordes. On top of this power boost, Diregraf Captain punishes our opponents for killing our hordes, Lord of the Undead can return our fallen undead friends to the hand, Lord of the Accursed grants our hordes an increased likelihood of harming our enemies, and Undead Warchief makes Zombies cheaper to cast.

Finally come the staples found commonly in many decks, Dimir or otherwise. There are, of course the classic commander staples such as Sol Ring and Lightning Greaves. We also run the cards that are typical of the Dimir colors. There are the draw cards, such as Brainstorm and Phyrexian Arena, tutor cards such as Demonic Tutor and Beseech the Queen, and the counterspells, like Arcane Denial. There are also the forms of removal, such as Shriekmaw, Hero's Downfall, Fleshbag Marauder, Overseer of the Damned, the new Torment of Hailfire, and the tried and true Cyclonic Rift. Another pseudo-staple utilized in this deck is Panharmonicon, which allows us to capitalize on the enter the battlefield effects of our reanimated creatures even further.

Well, that should be all there is to it. Now go forth, and lay waste, my sons! Build a force that would make the Black Lantern Corps twinge with envy! Then, of course, come back and leave your reviews, as I do so enjoy your patronage.
