i prefer the one drop removal that also gets past indestructible, but thanks for the suggestion

The deck seems to be lacking in card draw, so Cryptbreaker seems like a good fit.

@L0stWoods i agree that the extra draw would definitely come in handy... going to try them out and see how they work out. thanks

Consider adding Army of the Damned in to boost your zombie army. Synergizes well with Endless Ranks of the Dead and other cards like it.

@The_Grape i used to run two copies of the card, and it was fine once in a while... but it is much much too slow of a card, and i definitely appreciate its power and game ending potential. however, with 80% of the deck focused on just fast, mana-efficient creatures, getting stuck with one in had won't do much to help. however... come to think about it, i did just add in some discard outlets... so it might not be as unreasonable as it was before... i might playtest with it a bit and see how things play out. with Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx its flashback ability isn't all that hard to get.

The only thing I would worry about is that the Mana Curve is a bit steep.

should consider adding in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth just a land card, but could be helpful to get your nyx into a swamp for a bit of mana fixing. Also Mutavault. nice deck aswell! i have a black zombies deck of my own, such good fun! +1

Coat of Arms is good for tribal and makes zombies super beefy, i would suggest it if the steep mana isn't a problem.

Nameless Inversion + Lord of the Undead is a pretty stupid combo. Would recommend.

TheDuggernaught oh wow, i do really like that combo. i'll try to see if i cant figure out a home for it here in the deck. will definitely have to play with it a little. thanks

Replace Go for the Throat with Fatal Push? Push kills almost every creature in the format for one less mana
January 16, 2017 11 p.m.
TheHelvault Definitely worth a shot with playtesting. sounds solid though, I guess it really just depends on the meta. thanks

I would personally go to either the full playset of Push by taking one Tragic slip away or find something different for Slip. Slip is great when it works, but it is just so variable depending on the matchup. Push hits almost all relevant threats in modern, even hitting manlands like Inkmoth Nexus and Celestial Colonnade.
I really like how Nykthos can ramp you into Mikaeus really early!
January 18, 2017 10:22 p.m.
ZackBinks i can understand that. even just casual playtesting i find that slip is usually the first thing to get cut in favor of other spells. i get that its really great when i works, but can be unreliable. besides, if a match gets to the point where push wont do its job, then im assuming that the match isnt going quite my way anyway. i might stay with running x3 push, and throw in x2 Nameless Inversion from the MB and give that a go for bit. worse comes to worse, i dont like it and try running something else

I can see the inclusion of inversion. Works well with Undead Warchief and Lord of the Undead

I know this is Zombies, and not necessarily mono devotion, but with the Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, why no Leyline of the Void and Gray Merchant of Asphodel?
The devotion for Nykthos could actually make Army of the Damned castable too.
With the mana curve being so low, it looks like Nykthos might work against you, by sitting around being a colourless land with no benefit, especially with the 4 Mutavaults. Have you ever had issues drawing multiple colourless lands early game?
February 16, 2017 2:19 a.m.
@Die4Dethklok Gray merchant is in the side board for now. In fact I'm running the deck through a little testing phase with just these low mana creatures. The mutavaults are really hit and miss and although I like the idea behind them they will probably have to come out when I'm actually playing the deck because of that colorless problem. I've seen plenty hands where I'm staring down at two of them in my opening hand and no B in sight. Which is annoying to say the least. Still switching around cards from the sideboard to main and back. Trying to figure out the right batch to start with is tricky though. And gray merchant might get tossed back over to the main board soon. Also in the middle of testing with the maybe board to see what works. I have my eyes on collective brutality in particular. I'll be sure to update the deck as I progress. Im usually rather good at keeping up with everything.

Very nice deck! I created a deck similar to this one called Zombies teach Exponential Equations If it was me I'd put an Unbreathing Horde in, because he gets stronger when more zombies enter the battlefield. I would also say that another Endless Ranks of the Dead would serve the deck well. You get a plus 1 from me! Great Deck!

thanks for all the zombie love guys! the upvotes are all appreciated! glad to see some that you like the build here. @saturn999 Kevinosten WWWWAAAAAAYYYY back when this deck was just a casual deck, i had a few Unbreathing Horde in there. im finding it hard to find a place for him in the current build. he gets bested out by the other 3 drops in the mix and other than that there is just no room. same story for the second endless ranks, i used to run two copies but as the deck changed, one ended up coming out to make room for other cards. plus at 4 mana its at the high end of the mana curve at least before sideboard. ive been considering dropping a relentless dead, but gray merchant would be the first card to fill that gap. so i think the final verdict on Unbreathing Horde is that its good, just not good enough for what i have rn. might add another endless ranks to the sideboard instead of the 3rd push or zombie apocolypse. it would have to beat out the cards on the maybe board though so ill have to take a look at what works. thanks guys!

I would switch the Lotv for Lilly last hope or defiant necromancer as it suits the theme better and has great benefits. Also think of adding blue splash as prized amalgam works well with gravecrawler.
February 25, 2017 2:28 p.m.
Kris_the_clerk LOTV is great for the removal though, I was considering last hope when it came out. I really do like the card and I agree that it fits theme better. I'm really still torn between the two because lotv is just so powerful. My main problem with last hope is that the -2/-1 doesn't hit enough. I'd rather go for a 3 drop, and force my opponent to sacrifice a creature... but I'll look into it. Thanks!

Zombie Master is not modern legal
Zombie Master too high mana cost, and more importantly not a zombie... so rip

a good kill spell to maybe replace Tragic Slip would be Victim of Night. i think the menace enchantment is a decent enchantment for your deck.
