Little comment: Heard you guys talking about the 3-mana-get-a-2/1-back predicament with Dread Wanderer. Don't forget about Embalmer's Tools, which opens up a few more doors in the topic of Recursion. 2 Tools makes the 1-drop a 1-drop for good. and sets up a tiny mill mechanic in the deck, with all of them zombies running around.

@UnlikelyParadox Embalmer's Tools is a card that is more suited to a control or tempo deck, not a deck meant to be played as aggressively as this one. having the tools out just to reduce the mana cost of one card isn't what the deck is looking to do right now, but thank you for the suggestion regardless!

Why no hand destruction main-board? You're just handing game 1 over to pretty much all combo players. Put in Thoughtseize/Inquisition of Kozilek in the main board. Suggest taking out the enchantments. They either don't impact the board state or are too expensive. I myself chose to splash white and get hand destruction on a stick (Tidehollow Sculler) :p. Otherwise, it looks like a very tuned deck. My deck doesn't have as many 2-3 of's, but I'm still tuning it: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/bw-zombies-in-modern/

@MutaliskLord4 i dont mind trying out some hand disruption main board. However, i do feel that in a game one state of mind, Collective Brutality covers more options than a Thoughtseize so i went ahead and substituted those in instead.

I've had a few games where Stromgald Crusader is more useful than a Relentless Dead. You've probably already thought of this but I didn't see anything about it in the comments so I thought I'd throw it out there. +1 from me. zombies are the bestest

I would cut urborg for another cavern of souls, maybe it's just me but I hate playing tribal against control.

XenomorphX I like Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth for the basic fact that it is a lifesaver for broken first hands. The deck needs access to straight away and opening with x2 Mutavault or any combination of the colorless lands just does not work.

Throwing in an urborg helps secure on turn two in those situations, and overall I feel would be better suited to most occasions rather than running another cavern, which true if it works, might be the more powerful card.

LithiumHDIf you think urborg is necessary then go for it, in my LGS everyone plays some kind of control relating to blue and I'm the only one who plays a tribal (vampire tribal, check it out please ) which is why I have the extra need for cavern.

i would add some card that allows yo to use the ability of Gravecrawler in a more efficient way. Viscera Seer or Vampiric Rites. i play zombies in modern and pauper. if you add something to sacrifice the Gravecrawler i would consider to replace Geralf's Messenger with Plague Belcher. this way you can sacrifice all your zombie for the oponent lose 1 life for each. this is my deck, if you want to take a look:Crowd of Bodies

BigOldFox I have another modern deck that utilized the Viscera Seer + Gravecrawler combo, and the reason it does not exist in this particular deck is simple because it is a zombie tribal deck, meaning no vampires allowed. As of yet, I haven't seen a sac outlet that combines well with zombies and as such, decided to remove that aspect from this deck. Yes, we want our zombies in the grave, but we want to get them there through attacks, not because we keep killing them off.

LithiumHD if you dont want to use a vampire, what about Nantuko Husk?

January 29, 2018 1:32 p.m.

MikooBo says... #13

BigOldFox you're not the first person to bring him up, but like I said, the self sacrificing aspect of this deck was removed a long time ago. Besides nantuko takes up space in our oh so precious 3 drop slot, where the deck is much more suited to be running lords, not needless sac outlets.

LithiumHD would you share the list you use with Gravecrawler + Viscera Seer please? i am still unsure about some slots in my deck.

So quick question, I had previously made an infected deck once upon a time and now I am making a zombie deck. I really liked the deck you made and I have planned on trying to build it. So from my infected deck I have x4 Phyrexian Crusader and a Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. Would there be any room to add the Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon to this deck since it can not only gain haste for 1 mana but regenerate itself for 2 mana? Also, I was curious want would be a good choice to try and add x2-x4 Phyrexian Crusader into this deck or if it isn't worth it. I thought it would be an interesting concept to add so as to build up pressure on an opponent via a few infected hits plus the protection from red and white they carry. Just a few thought's I had about this deck, plus it would save a little money so I can get the 3 Liliana Planeswalkers lol

@DemonicExecuter so, to put this bluntly. I. Love. The. Idea. Of. Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon in the deck. And I'm literally running x2 copies of Phyrexian Crusader in the sideboard. You could easily swap the crusaders mainboard, in replace of almost any of the 3 drops, and having a Death Baron on the field and 6 mana means that our big scary dragon is now a bigger scarier one, and the opponent has a 5/5 hasted flyer aimed at their face and a 2 turn clock. By all means go for it, the reason you will never see the skeleton dragon here is simply because, well, that little title under his name doesn't specifiacally say zombie. I'd limit him to one or two copies max though, to not throw off ramp too much. Otherwise build up those counters bud, have fun!

October 11, 2018 3:13 p.m.

Yeah, that's why I was asking because I was wondering if it would be good or not being that it is a skeleton, though the +1/+1 was the main reason I was curious lol. I will give it a try and see how it does. Thank you for the quick reply and thank you for making the awesome deck ^^

Could use more Gray Merchant of Asphodel. And, since your things care about dying a lot less than most opponents', Fleshbag Marauder.

Hello Again,

So I have finally got around to building this deck and love it very much! I was looking around to see if there was anything that could make the deck "dead"lier and came upon this Entreat the Dead. Would this be something worth adding into here since it could be devastating late game?
