All other men are specialists, but his specialty is omniscience.

-- Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

An exercise in the laws of nature. A manifestation of terrible sorrow. A fish thing.

The Superfriends of Standard, led only by their wealth of knowledge. Whether they use it for good, for evil, or for their own private gain, they can all conveniently use it to make a coherent decklist after all this time. This deck has taken many hours of tweaking and playtesting to get where it's at today, and while it is not a Tier 1 deck by any means, I've found it can hold its own in the big leagues. The core of the deck is its pure value of threats. The majority of the deck is a key balance between potentially game-winning standalone cards and the full support suite that can back them up. This puts it somewhere in between Midrange and Control on the spectrum, where we play the Midrange smashstick Reaper of the Wilds next to the Control suite of Dissolve and Hero's Downfall.

Now some literature! The BUG Superfriends archetype has been getting some mild attention over time, including this article and decklist by pro player Frank Lepore and this BUG Control list from Melissa DeTora.. And, as an unexpected turn of events, Team Channel Fireball decided to run a very similar list in Pro Tour Journey Into Nyx!

Will add more, like the card choices, later. I'm a bit more focused on my Modern deck for now. Tune in next time, same Crazy time, same Crazy channel.

Updates Add

Okay, so I never actually expected BUG to become popular, but I am glad to see that Team Channel Fireball decided to run BUG Control at Pro Tour JOU. Granted, that’s kind of misleading, as Block Constructed is waaay different compared to Standard. However, this is still a small taste of what’s to come. Hopefully, BUG will get some neat tools in M15 and Khaaaaaans to actually be competitive? We’ll have to wait and see.

Also, updates.
