This has some cool ass cards. Good work. My favorite art in the deck: Morgue Thrull . My favorite card in the deck: Gravestorm .

Thanks, Goblin_Guide! That means a lot :) I totally agree, Morgue Thrull has some awesome art! Definitely one of my favorites! Gravestorm is such a cool card too! Drawing an extra card or thinning a graveyard out every upkeep is so nice here - and it looks incredible while doing it :D

May I suggest Crypt Rats from Visions as a possible boardwipe? Combos nicely with Scythe of the Wretched aswell and even goes infinite with Priest of Gix from Urza's saga.

Unfortunately CaptainToll, Scythe of the Wretched is just not quite old enough for me to include in this deck. Mirrodin was the first non-core set to use the first iteration of the modern border style. It's kind of a weird limitation but I'm only using the old-borders found in sets from Scourge back.

I love Crypt Rats though - I might have to see if I can room for it!

Getting some good ideas from this, here's a similar thing I did.

Old Border Dakkon Blackblade

I cheated and used the judge promo Crucible of Worlds and Sword of Feast and Famine because they're really good with my deck.

I'm so glad you like it, suarkdivad! It's a labor of love and by far my favorite deck.

It makes me really happy when I find other people build old-border decks too :D

This deck is crazzzzzyyyyyy cool man. Been wanting to build an old-school mono black deck just like this.

Thank you, Mark3sie! It is still by far my favorite deck to play :) Even after many months, I still find new pieces to try out for it too!

If you do ever make an Old-School deck yourself, I would love to see it!

This deck really is a greatest hits of old school jank (fun) and I love it. Any thoughts on adding Uncle Istvan ? He has to be one of the icons of this type of magic

I love finding unique decks like this! How cool! Great job sticking to your theme and cutting staples even though they may be good.

I have a reanimator deck (not as neatly budget as yours is though) and I have found one of my favorite discard outlets is Key to the City . It just has so much value in this kind of deck. Nice deck, man!

Thanks for the comment, StarstormKK! I unfortunately won't be able to add your suggestion though. A self-imposed rule for this deck is that I use only old-bordered cards, meaning I cannot use anything that was made after the Scourge set which was in 2003. Neat card though!

This one looks like great fun! Having any sort of theme or self-imposed restriction is always a spur to creativity!

Really cool suggestion, KiefyWonder! This is a really powerful card; my hesitation is that I usually have to go 'all in' for my big reanimation to have a chance at getting a win. I'm usually spending the game trying to pack my graveyard with as many creatures as I can and having creatures sit in my hand is usually something I want to avoid as much as possible. It is a really cool effect so I may have to try it out anyways and just see how it plays!

Thank you again :)

Change all the lands to snow-covered swamps and add Sunstone

This deck is becoming such beaut!

Always interesting looking in on it! Looking at your lands, I have a small suggestion - there are some good cheap old-school lands like Temple of the False God, Terrain Generator and Barren Moor that you might find interesting.

griffstick says... #23

I second all those lands

Thank you, Asgeren - I always love hearing from you and your suggestions are always much appreciated! :)

Those are great recommendations! I actually didn't even know TOTFG was so old! Those are some very affordable pieces too, which is always good. The land I really want for it is Lake of the Dead but it's just so expensive right now. I'm actually in the midst of selling off some random pieces in my binders in the hopes to get some of the expensive wish-list cards I've been wanting for it. Finger's-crossed!

Anyways, thank you again for all your help! Shout-out to griffstick for your input as well!
