WHO WANTS TO PARTY
This is a deck I've been working on, and tweeking for the last few weeks. Nobody has a deck out there quite like this, and so I thought it would be incredibly fun to create; 1) A unique deck nobody else is playing. 2) One that gives me more options than a Thai Brothel. 3) One built around my favorite cards: Obzedat, Ghost Council Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, Advent of the Wurm, and Voice of Resurgence.
This deck is built around synergy, taking it to the face of everybody from Blitz/Mono Red to Blue-White/Esper Control
Casting an Appetite for Brains is your way of telling your opponent that he's not really going to like this game. What don't we want to see during this match? I dunno, lemme just look at my opponents hand, figure it out, and feed it to my dog! Opponent Thought: (I'd rather get F* in the A**)
Avacyn's Pilgrim > Arbor Elf ONLY in this deck. When you're only running seven forests, You would rather take the Pilgrim than that pointy eared tree hugger. He's great for Mana ramping, weenie blocking, and missionary work. If you get both Avacyn's Pilgrim and Appetite for Brains, you're obviously going to put the Pilgrim on first. The man's got somewhere to be.
Voice of Resurgence....Deer have always been my PowerAnimalBringing us to our only other two drop in the deck is Abrupt Decay. The ability for this card to deal with any deck you're playing for two mana is amazing! Anything is on the table. You probably already know what you're going to use it on from Appetite for Brains. An Instant or Sorcery is the only safe haven. until... This man knows you've been looking at Anime Porn, and he's here to punish you, you sick bastard. If you already know there's no goodies in his hand to exile, then you can just sit on him start getting to work.
Which brings us to where we start to have some serious fun. If you cant do anything about it, I'll pop in a
Silverblade Paladin
or just put in some little men in, because you're opponent needs another thing to worry about. Sidenote: Why does every woman have huge knockers, and are eager to show them off? This game is way too unrealistic. Talk about unrealistic, a 4/4 Uncounterable elephant for 1WG.
When you crash in a Advent of the Wurm or Sorin, Lord of Innistrad The game starts becoming overwhelming. Nobody likes to deal with a self protecting planeswalker or a Trampling Wurm. Now think of facing a 5/5 Trampling, Double Strike Wurm that came in during your attack phase. You've used everything you have to deal with the Voice of Resurgence, the
Silverblade Paladin
, the Advent of the Wurm, Sorin, Lord of Innistrad, a flashbacked Lingering Souls, and F** Obzedat comes in? Game.
For added protection, I've put
Ready / Willing
in. This is an underrated card that is so malleable in it's ability to mold to any situation that may arise.
Everybody has seen an Advent of the Wurm. Everybody has seen an Obzedat, Ghost Council or a
Silverblade Paladin
, but they've never seen a deck that with a combination quite like this. More than likely your opponent is going to use up his answers to your deck too soon, or I'm going to take them from him. That element of surprise, combined with that hint of control and anticipation is what makes this deck not good, but great.
I'd like to start a discussion on how to really turn this deck into something special. This deck was top 8 in a 35 man Grand Prix a few days ago the first time I used it, and I've made significant changes to it to hopefully give it that last kick to really launch it into top deck category. Let the criticism begin....
