Anafenza, Hatebear Queen.
Anafenza, the Foremost - Great stats for the cost. Some of the best hate colors in the format. Very relevant hatebear herself in the form of GY hate. This will sometimes make you a target out the gate, but can also just eliminate certain players from doing much.
Avacyn's Pilgrim - White is a symbol we hold dearly.
Fyndhorn Elves - Green is also great!
Birds of Paradise - Now we’re cooking with gas! Any color is massive. Plus, flying means a sword or Norn pump can be relevant. If you don’t own one buy one.
Sol Ring - I’ll grow a pair and cut it one day.
Deathrite Shaman - Honestly, not that great in my meta, but my meta is odd. Should probably be a Withered Wretch or another mana dork.
Vampiric Tutor - Just broken. Really helps find the silver bullet for our fun police shenanigans.
Green Sun's Zenith - Almost always looking for Gaddock Teeg but a lot of creatures in this deck are useful to stick on the battlefield. Don’t forget about Dryad Arbor!
Swords to Plowshares - It’s okay to gain life to get rid of a pesky creature. We are in the best colors for removal, might as well run the best removal.
Path to Exile - Even more fun with Ob online! We run plenty of hate to make this more one sided than it should be. It’s already bonkers low cost for exile at instant speed.
Grand Abolisher - Great way to protect your combo, or just to get some creatures to stick if needed. Great all around card to protect from Counterspell and whatnot.
Containment Priest - Flash is really what makes this card oh so much fun! Kaalia of the Vast hates this cleric. Be careful, as this can really hose us, too. Most of the ways to get the win conditions on the board are nullified by her.
Gaddock Teeg - HAHAHAHAH! Really just play him and watch what happens!! Tutor him out early, tutor him out often. Again, as with most of our bears, this guy can hurt you, too.
Spirit of the Labyrinth - Punishes the draw hungry decks. Leovold, Spymaster of Trest taught us that not drawing cards can be detrimental.
Scavenging Ooze - If you don’t happen to get the general online it can take care of the persistent reanimators. I would argue that chances are, if you can’t stick Anne, you can’t stick Scooze.
Bloom Tender - I was hoping for reprints, because every 3+ color deck needs it. Note it works with stolen goods.
Kataki, War's Wage - Breya hates it. So does anyone with mana rocks! Meta call for sure.
Demonic Tutor - As Liliana has shown us, pacts with demons are good. We run tutors because our entire deck is full of silver bullet and situational cards.
Ethersworn Canonist - The best use for this card is in a counter heavy game. Lay some bait, get it countered, that player can’t cast any more spells this turn. It does hose us as well.
Aegis of the Gods - Having hexproof can be really nice. Very meta depending. This could easily be card draw or ramp if you want to go faster. Could also be another piece of hate.
Saffi Eriksdotter - Great looper. We have a reanimator theme going, mainly for the drawn out games and inevitable Damnation. Legendary when important, like for Sissay. Green for Green Sun's Zenith.
Fauna Shaman - Survival of the Fittest on a stick! Should really be like Magus of the Fittest or something. Haste makes nice with this card.
Cryptolith Rite - Turn our hate into mana! The whole freaking point of this deck is to stick a bunch of dorks to slow down the opponent. Probably won’t be attacking or blocking with some of them so put them to work! This deck is mana hungry.
Eladamri's Call - Creature tutor is great in this deck!
Animate Dead - Unfortunately, this won’t be stealing things from our opponents most of the time, but still very useful!
Survival of the Fittest - We run a ton of reanimation in this deck. Pitch whatever you don’t need for something you do. If you stick this card you should either win or get really far ahead.
Eternal Witness - Pull anything back to your hand for value. Great to recur a few times with tutors.
Anguished Unmaking - Nonland permanent can be a bummer, but not really. At the cost of 3 life you get to get rid of a planeswalker, Darksteel Forge, etc? This is why we play Abzan.
Fleshbag Marauder - Zombie for when it matters and forced Edict is great. Recurring is very fun and profitable.
Sanctum Prelate - Oh boy with Gaddock Teeg out this will be frustrating! Just straight up can’t be cast, on a body and choose a number. 3 for Capsize and stick your permanents. Chalice of the Void but better IMHO in this particular deck.
Krosan Grip - How many combos does this stop? Split Second is great on removal.
Phyrexian Arena - This card advantage will add up much more quickly than the life lost will hurt.
Tireless Tracker - Clue tokens are great because when you are hosing out card draw, you crack them on opponents turns. This dude happens to get bigger while you do it!
Mentor of the Meek - Just in case you just got the internet in that rock you live in, most Bears are 2/2. This fancy lad can keep our hand full a good amount of the time.
Shaman of Forgotten Ways - Biorhythm and a mana dork. Boy will your opponents get scared of him, so he eats removal, too! I’ve won games with this card more than once. I stand by my Jank.
Aura of Silence - Taxing is annoying. So is instant speed enchantment and artifact removal. Flexibility is what makes this card cut it.
Void Attendant - Hear me out… Could fill your board with eldrazi spawn! Just get a creature into exile, stick Anne, when you process the creature, it goes right back into exile! I have been told to cut this by better magic players.
Athreos, God of Passage - Survives boardwipes and makes them funny. Giving your oponent the choice is never ideal, but we run a ton of recursion so it really doesn’t matter to us. On the other hand, when we have recursion going, this actually is a worse card sometimes.
Recruiter of the Guard - Recruiter of the Hate! Again, HateBEARS. This pulls a lot of our powerhouses right in our hand for three mana.
Hushwing Griff - Definitely can hose us as much as the opponent, but can really hurt opponents!
Eldritch Evolution - I initially stayed away due to the exile clause, but targeting Academy Rector can put both Linvala, Keeper of Silence and Living Plane into play. It’s epic when that happens.
Aven Mindcensor - Path to Exile is funny, and it even makes fetchlands bad. Note this one doesn’t hose us at all! I’m sticking with the old artwork on this one.
Ghostly Prison - Stops us from being overwhelmed quickly. We are actually kind of weak to some straightforward linear decks.
Kambal, Consul of Allocation - Makes storm kinda dumb. Also rebound sucks a little more. The lifegain is a nice offset for some of the lands and tutors and draw and whathaveyou.
Eidolon of Rhetoric - With the spell hosing! Make sure you cast anything else you want to the turn you cast it, as it looks at the whole turn.
Sword of Feast and Famine - My favorite of the swords, and the only one I run.
Mortify - Remove those pesky threats!
Ashnod's Altar - Great sac outlet that gives you mana. Rarely useless.
Thalia, Heretic Cathar - I like the heretic. Kismet doesn’t ring everyone’s bell but i like it.
Linvala, Keeper of Silence - Lynchpin of the deck. Just bananas with Living Plane or just about any time ever. ¾ flyer ain’t a bad target for a sword either.
Academy Rector - Mainly to pull out Living Plane but we also have silver bullet enchantment creatures, too.
Captain Sissay - Tutors out all the legendaries in the deck. From land to creatures. Recursion engine makes her slightly better, but she can get Karador from the deck.
Living Plane - Did someone say Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite? No, it was Linvala, Keeper of Silence? This card is a bit pricey but boy is it great in this deck.
Silent Arbiter - Helps us build a hate fort against swarms or multiple blockers.
Vizier of the Menagerie - Tons of creatures in the deck, also allows you to look at the top of your library in response to things. More relevant than it appears.
Karmic Guide - She’s buddies with Saffi so I invited her to play. Turns out she has a tons of friends here!
Reveillark - Speak of the devil! This weird looking cancerous winged football is a great addition to any deck that has creatures and white mana symbols. But even better when abused!
Sidisi, Undead Vizier - 4/6 deathtouch and tutor. It can exploit itself, also it’s recurrable. Loved this card since it was in Standard!
Living Death - Hilariously one sided with Anafenza! Just double check before you cast.
Fracturing Gust - Love this gem. Instant speed mass removal for enchantments and artifacts.. Doesn’t get much better.
Twilight's Call - Just for when the smug blue player countered your Living End. Instant speed can be very, very relevant. Underused card in the format due to prohibitively high mana cost.
Ob Nixilis, Unshackled - Flying, Trample, and gets big via hate. Really on point in this deck. I don’t run Fertilid but it’s funny with this.
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite - Giving you strangely sexual nightmares since 5.13.11
Karador, Ghost Chieftain - Could almost be the commander in here. Great recursion engine.
Dryad Arbor - Surprisingly useful. Forest when relevant, zero mana green creature when relevant.
Bojuka Bog - GY hate, hard to counter.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - Great if you stick permanents, colorless if you don’t.
Arcane Lighthouse - Hexproof hoser. Can also be used politically to waste other’s removal.
Gaea's Cradle - Can the deck function without it? Sure. Can you win without it? Absolutely. But, if you have it, run it. This can go bonkers.
Nephalia Academy - Hoses discard matters decks. Also prevents stripping your hand from a key piece. Revealing it isn’t ideal, but hey.
The rest of the land - Run what ya brung. Honestly just use your best funds and judgement to fill in the gaps. My manabase is far from dialed, and I’m trading in to the needed peices.
