Since your commander triggers off being targeted, and you're using a lot of instants/sorceries already perhaps you'd like some more ways to copy them? Fork, Reverberate, Reiterate, Dualcaster Mage

Its a good idea, but I should change of the auras for instant and sorceries. Suggestions?

I also think I should use Wear / Tear in my main, and find a Path of Exile. Also, what spells similar to Lightning Bolt do you recommend?

I would swap one of your Bolt type spells for Reiterate at least, because with Sunforger in play you can fetch it on command to copy anything your opponent should cast that catches your eye.

Because your trick triggers off being targeted, you'll want to cast lots of spells. I'd run a gatherer search for red and white spells with flashback or buyback. See if there's anything useful there you can use more than once. Seething Anger, Recoup, and Reckless Charge seem like they might be good options.

That is very useful, thanks!

Updated the deck to the cards I actually own, the cards I want are in the "maybeboard".

you are a bit land light. 18-20 lands is where you want to be in this format.

You are right! Thanks

Presently, I'm pondering if I should include spells that create token creatures, such as Hordeling Outburst.

IMO, these decks are so small that you usually want to keep pretty tightly to your primary goal. Hordeling Outburst and the like get you some dudes, trigger Anax and are gone.. If you want free tokens, Goblinslide. Militia's Pride, Spirit Bonds and Monastery Mentor would be more inline. Goblin and MM produce when triggering Anax, MP and SB trigger off stuff you're doing anyway. All except MM are non creature spells as well, so their castings will trigger Anax too...

I love it, but playtesting it, it really is too slow =(

I actually thought about this commander the other day when toying around with a friend. Looking at this, Eidolon of Countless Battles seems pointless since you have so few creatures and enchantments. If you like the pump from bestowing it, just use Ethereal Armor. As a heroic commander I expected at least that many targeting instants (Harm's Way is another decent 1-drop), and more heroic creatures to use them on, like Favored Hoplite. Since Anax gives trample, look for powerful creatures like Oreskos Swiftclaw and other things that trample over. If you play full on aggro Akroan Hoplite is fun. Young Pyromancer seems out of place here.

Going back to instants, Lightning Helix is a favorite in modern, but i still see plenty of Warleader's Helix in EDH. Again, if you're looking for enchantments, there's Scourge of the Nobilis or any of the ordeals (Ordeal of Purphoros, Ordeal of Heliod), but I'd strongly recommend Indestructibility or something to help Anax survive wraths and kill spells.

I could go on and on, but there's a start. Sorry for jumping around so much.

Thanks thewyzman

Scourge of the Nobilis seems great! Sadly, I can't include Indestructibility because in tiny leaders you can't play spells with more than 3cmc.

Oh, I wasn't aware of the "tiny" actually being a format parameter. Well, in that case, Gift of Immortality to avoid wraths?

Although, the "tiny" format does lend itself to reducing a lot of the major wraths and board wipes other than stuff like Drown in Sorrow and Pyroclasm, so protect against wraths as much as you feel is necessary, if you're even worried about it with so few creature. With more creatures you can start thinking Battalion effects like on Daring Skyjek, Wojek Halberdiers, and Boros Elite.

Yeah, the meta is filled with things like Drown in Sorrow, I'm going to give Gift of Immortality a try!

I've been testing this deck with all the cards I want but can't afford on Cockatrice, but I can't compete with a lot of decks such as Geist of Saint Traft. I think this deck can't really become competitive, and will only be casual :(

February 18, 2015 10:42 a.m.

You are entirely lacking in card draw, and if you get to a point where you are out of cards with this deck you will probably be screwed. Some draw engines I really like in token producing decks are Skullclamp and Mentor of the Meek I hope those both are legal in this format.

mtghypatia says... #20

Sadly, Skullclamp is not legal in Tiny Leaders :(

Maybe I could use Wheel of Fate?

February 18, 2015 11:06 a.m.

I just looked and didn't see Wheel of Fortune on the ban list. You could also use an Oblation in here. Either shuffle one of your tokens for draw, or tuck someone's commander. Another thing you could do is add in cantrips and an Astral Steel so you get buttloads of heroic/prowess/pyromancer triggers in one turn during later parts of the game.

mtghypatia says... #23

Thanks for the recommendations! Oblation looks great!

February 18, 2015 12:05 p.m.

No probs homie.

February 18, 2015 12:07 p.m.

So I found some cantrips for you. None are really powerful, but they trigger your stuff and get you to draw to your actual good cards. Abeyance Accelerate Bandage Carom Cease-Fire Crimson Wisps Defiant Strike Gallantry Gorilla War Cry Guided Strike Panic Pressure Point Psychotic Fury Shelter Spiritualize Stun Overmaster. Those could possibly turn your deck into a force to be reckoned with, or just kind of make it durdle. I'm not sure, but I think it is definitely something worth trying.
