Rhox Faithmender is for a different type of deck than Naya IMO. I have it in my Oloro deck but that is because that deck wins off of lifegain. Naya wins off of creatures, be it big creatures, big creatures with counters, or little creatures with counters. The amount of life you gain for effects like Archangel of Thune or Ajani's Pridemate doesn't matter as much as the lifegain event itself.

Yeah I agree, I just like it haha if I make a modern lifegain deck, that is going in it :)

He is great for decks that win off of lifegain without a doubt. If you like him enough to put him in knowing he is sub-par go for it I'm just saying there are better ways to spend 4 mana in a Naya deck and he isn't contributing to the overall strategy.

No he wouldn't be haha. I wanna do Trostani but I will see. She is interesting

Seedborn Muse - untaps commander on opponent's turn
Elvish Piper - cheats creatures into play
Fierce Empath - gets you some creatures
Garruk, Caller of Beasts - Every ability is relevant
Paleoloth - green recursion
Quicksilver Amulet - cheats creatures same as Elvish Piper
Tooth and Nail - Big fat creatures, gotta love this card
Savage Beating - Attack twice... twice
Shattering Spree - destroy any pesky artifacts, works great for one, works great for more.
Fatties: Blightsteel Colossus Darksteel Colossus It That Betrays Kozilek, Butcher of Truth Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre Wurmcoil Engine Armada Wurm Giant Adephage Utvara Hellkite
You want as many creatures and ways to cheat them into play to be part of your deck as possible, cutting burn spells makes room for this.
Things to drop: Ferocious Charge Lightning Bolt Magma Jet Piety Charm Shelter AEther Vial Bonfire of the Damned Mizzium Mortars Cerebral Eruption Primal Surge Red Sun's Zenith Latulla's Orders Ajani Vengeant Elspeth, Knight-Errant

Why do you recommend I drop AEther Vial Ajani Vengeant and Elspeth, Knight-Errant ? I have found they do really well for my deck. as for the others, I am fine with it except Red Sun's Zenith that card has won me games.
I like all your suggestions, and I appreciate you commenting :)
I happen to love Quicksilver Amulet Garruk, Caller of Beasts Tooth and Nail , Shattering Spree and the Fatties you listed. That being said I am really poor at the moment and most of those cards are over 30 bucks a piece haha.
Seedborn Muse is a great card and I am going to get it.
I will put them in my maybeboard and hope that sometime soon I can get some cash for it. Perhaps once my taxes come back haha.
Thank you for all your help drpeppercan

AEther Vial
ramps slowly into being able to drop your big fatties, so you need to get it on the board early and let it sit there doing next to nothing until you're ready for it.
Ajani Vengeant is ok, but I find his ultimate unfun for casual and more lackluster than dropping a big bomb of a creature.
Elspeth, Knight-Errant
is better in token decks, all your creatures are going to be big enough as is and should either have trample, flying or some other form of evasion.
If you have the mana to make use of Red Sun's Zenith keep it in I just find burn incredibly under-powered in commander with the exception of Blasphemous Act .
Trade for the fatties if you can and it reduces cost tremendously.

Yeah I suppose, I won't go buy AEther Vial as it requires a lot of time to become useful as you mentioned.
I like Ajani Vengeant for his first two abilities, that is why he is in there, gives me a Lightning Bolt with lifegain for -2 loyality counters I think is solid.
I decided against Elspeth, Knight-Errant and each other Elspeth as well. If there is one you think I should include, please let me know :)
I do have the mana to use Red Sun's Zenith effectively and love using it. People get frustrated with it which makes me happy :)
I have about 150 dollars of trades, so that will help make up most of the value for the Fatties.
I appreciate all the help you have given me drpeppercan :)

Just keep in mind that you probably want a good 30+ creatures.
If you're looking for planeswalkers: Domri Rade Sarkhan Vol Xenagos, The Reveler all have relevant abilities to what you're trying to accomplish.
For creature searching and fixing: Chord of Calling Congregation at Dawn Fauna Shaman Green Sun's Zenith Signal the Clans

Looks pretty good, watch out running Iona, Shield of Emeria , lots of people HATE that card and it can lose your friends.
I'd swap Phytohydra and Primordial Hydra over to creatures with power that you can bring in. Both are good cards but somewhat out of their element in this deck.
Watch your land base, if you run into a mono red deck with Blood Moon the lack of plains will ruin your plans.
Kodama's Reach is another Cultivate

I don't have many friends so that's fine ;)
I am thinking Blue or Black are my best options for choosing a color for her ability, but what do you think? Of course it will vary from game to game, so I will look at their commander and see before I play her.
Okay I will trade those in as well to get some different creatures.
I had them in when I was using Marath, Will of the Wild as my commander but I am totally fine taking them out now :)
Okay, I will have to keep that in mind. Is a sideboard allowed for commander? I haven't heard any rules on that. I feel like a noob for asking haha.
Okay should I run both Kodama's Reach and Cultivate or just one of those two?
February 17, 2014 7:40 p.m.
drpeppercan says... #16
They definitely fit better with Marath, Will of the Wild , they just can't really be cheated in and the Phytohydra won't grow very fast in this deck.
Sideboarding isn't really done, I usually have a couple cards that I'll swap in dependent on the meta to make my deck run smoother.
I'd run both Kodama's Reach and Cultivate , lands are always good to have and it helps you to hit those drops early game so you can hard cast creatures later in the game.
Possible creature to put in would be Bogardan Hellkite he's a personal favorite of mine and can clear out utility creatures or go right for the life total. Hellkite Charger is another dragon which fits well with the deck.

Magiclover318 says... #17
I am not really feeling those dragons... :/ sorry I never have been a fan of dragons haha. The only fliers I like are angels...
Also I am trying to remove Borborygmos from this, do you think that is wise? He was in there for when I had Marath as my commander.
If you think I should remove him, I would appreciate any ideas on what to put in his place.
I am constantly looking at creature cards as well, so if I find any I will update the deck.
Dude you are so helpful. I really appreciate it :)

Borborygmos is great for this deck, power over 5, trample, relevant ability for an aggro focus.
No problem, I've thought about building a commander deck around her myself so this is kind of a way for me to work out kinks it would run into with someone else on their deck :-P I always try to have someone else to bounce ideas off for decks.

Okay I will keep him then, he is relatively cheap money wise so I will get him. Unfortunately, this deck is expensive and I don't have most of the cards. I am probably spending 300 dollars trying to fix this deck up, That is a lot of money for me as I don't make that much in a week. Haha college students... poor as hell.
Well I hope I have been of some assistance to you as well then! Props to Mayael EDH Decks :)
When you upload it if you do, let me know and I will take a look :)

I'm in the same boat for not having much money for decks, but if you make good trades you can get the more expensive cards that way.

Yeah definitely. I have about 150 in trades atm, since I took apart my standard decks. BNG made me ragequit standard. I hate it haha
February 17, 2014 8:08 p.m.
you have two Chord of Calling in the decklist, so you could use Green Sun's Zenith if you need a replacement.
February 17, 2014 8:57 p.m.
ignore Green Sun's Zenith suggestion, didn't see it in deck list.

Ah yes I thought I did but I missed it. Haha and I have GSZ in there right now. I need creatures rather than spells though at this point.

In regards to your question about if you have enough creatures, I would say you have a good amount, if nothing else you may have a tad too many. Your mana curve is very high, but I understand that it's doable with your Commander, something I would recommend would be to drop some of the weaker high costing creatures that you find aren't performing and replace them with some more ramp spells or mana rocks, just so you don't find yourself with a handful of creatures that you can't hardcast.
You have access to Green so you've got many options as far as mana ramp goes! :)

First off I appreciate all the comments :) I love archangel of thune, and I want one, I had a selesnya lifegain deck before theros, and loved it. I will obtain one of those asap.
I like Ajani Goldmane , especially if I have Archangel of Thune and I have used Ajani, Caller of the Pride since it's standard.
What do you guys think of Rhox Faithmender ? I am trying to acquire Mayael's Aria but I am most likely obtaining cards online so they won't be here right away.
The store I was buying singles from started treating me bad so I just am not buying from them anymore haha.
