Maybeboard


This is my version of an Animar deck.

Key interactions:

  1. Ancestral Statue + Animar, Soul of Elements - gives you an infinite big commander.

  2. Combine your infinite big commander with Rogue's Passage

  3. Animar, Soul of Elements + Palinchron + Temur Sabertooth - gives you an infinite big commander and endless mana resources, if you have enough lands. Add Purphoros, God of the Forge to the party and you eng the game right away.

  4. The whole bunch of colorless creatures - Duplicant, Oblivion Sower, Artisan of Kozilek and the two big hitters, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth and Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre, and of course the utility-guy Solemn Simulacrum - get better the more counters are on the commander.

  5. Cloudstone Curio + any two creatures besides Animar - solid increase of counters on Animar without the need to draw your whole deck first. If both are colorless, you will cast them free from some point on.

  6. Because you'll most likely end up with your board full of creatures, the number one finisher would be Craterhoof Behemoth, empowering you to take out maybe more than one opponent in one, big swing.

  7. Fore the more subtle way of finishing, combine either Ancestral Statue or Palinchron + Temur Sabertooth (or both, if you're greedy) with Purphoros, God of the Forge; like the Magic: The Gathering version of an automatic gun out of control.

Other usefull stuff:

Farseek, Nature's Lore, Signets, Kodama's Reach, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Oracle of Mul Daya, Solemn Simulacrum, Mana Reflection and Zendikar Resurgent ensure your mana base and add something extra.

The last of the above together with various tutor cards (e. g. Chord of Calling, Momir Vig, Simic Visionary) and carddraw (Mulldrifter, Primordial Sage) helps keeping your hand full or refilling it, once empty.

Last point on my list here. I definitely don't have the money to afford the old duals (Tropical, Volcanic, Tundra) in addition to keeping up with the new sets released every few moths, so please don't point them out as missing. After that said, I think the landbase is pretty solid, but I'm open for ideas.

The basic goal is pretty simple, regardless the actual cardchoices: abuse your commander, stuff it with counters so your big guys come in nice and low cost, but hit even harder.
