No storm kill? It seems like you could go off with Animar and Soul of the Harvest... -shrugs-

surprised to not see Warstorm Surge

@sythain - You are absolutely correct that I could find a way to fit a Grapeshot in here. With Soul of the Harvest and Primordial Sage I do have the potential to play a bunch of creatures in a turn and drop a large Grapeshot or possibly another storm type card on my oppoenent(s). Thank for the suggestion.

@canterlotguardian - Warstorm Surge should probably find a home in here, but I'm still trying to figure out what to pull out of the deck to get it in here. I do appreciate the suggestion though.

you should definitely have Tidespout Tyrant in a deck this artifact creature heavy. if you throw in some cheap bounce creatures, you can also bounce lands for 1 mana after getting animar infinitely big.

take a look at mine, I don't feel like listing all of the cards that I feel should be in here, but tidespout definitely stood out to me.

@ nbarry223 - I appreciate the suggestion, I went ahead and got the Tidespout Tyrant into the deck as he certainly will make the deck better with his ability. I'll take a look at your deck and see what cards you've got in there that could be of use in my deck. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Nantuko Vigilante , Willbender and a few other morph cards are also free to cast with Animar and can provide some removal or defense like an instant.

@carpecanum - I wasn't aware it would work that way, but it does make sense. I appreciate your comment, I'll have to look into some Morph cards that may fit in the deck. Thank you again!

I had an Animar deck a while back, but with a more combo-focus - Bouncy EDH. A lot of the cards don't really translate, but some are solid:

Equilibrium
Chromatic Lantern
Citanul Flute
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur

This is just a mean deck. A great way to lose friends in less competitive circles. Which is to say, its ridiculously good.

In the tournaments i have played in, if you cant counter a cyclonic rift you will lose the game. You need some sort of board state besides indestructible creatures. Because you have nothing but creatures and artifacts i suggest a Mystic Snake and Deadeye Navigator . The navigator is also very good for blinking the land fetch creatures you have and you can blink your clones for 2 and you can also blink anything that becomes targeted by burn.

I would post my deck link but idk how lol

@rebelteddybear - I appreciate the feedback. Honestly in my play group if your deck isn't fast it is dead. While Cyclonic Rift or any potential Wrath of God effects can certainly screw this deck, it usually isn't a huge worry as if you aren't online quickly you probably aren't going to win anyway, haha.

If I was playing in a different environment, I would certainly make use of both of those creatures (as they actually were included in an original version) as they are awesome especially when working together. While I could make a case for adding Deadeye Navigator to take advantage of cards like Wood Elves , my current build is focused more around chaining multiple Primordial Sage or a Clone of said Sage effect cards into drawing out my deck or swarming my opponent.

Again I appreciate you feed back though, thank you!

I'm assuming that you aren't running Palinchron for a reason

October 7, 2014 12:10 p.m.

Punmonkey says... #14

@logansullivan - Haha, yeah...while he could be an infinite trigger similar to Tidespout Tyrant , I just really didn't want to put him in since I don't really have a need for the infinite mana he would give me. Most of the time as I end up plowing through my deck with Soul of the Harvest effects and rarely run into an issue of needing that extra mana. While he would be good to safe guard against running out of gas, since it hasn't been a big issue for me I opted to keep him out of the deck. Thanks for checking my deck out though, it is appreciated!

With no non-permanents in here, you could use Primal Surge or Genesis Wave .

October 17, 2014 4:35 p.m.

Punmonkey says... #16

@NoPantsParade - you are absolutely correct in that both of those cards could work nicely in this deck, but since I rarely get to the 10 lands needed to cast Primal Surge or a useful Genesis Wave I didn't put them into the deck. This deck runs its best when chaining together large amounts of creatures hitting the board through Animar, Soul of Elements ability and the draw power of Soul of the Harvest effects.

I appreciate the comment though, thanks!

@bossman0o - It actually works quite well, even in multiplayer settings. Often times winning me the game by turn 5. Appreciate the feedback though!

Solid deck, +1!

If you want to draw through the deck quickly Prime Speaker Zeganna will help greatly with that

Assassin_ian98 - I appreciate the suggestion, I tried Prime Speaker Zegana in an initial iteration of this deck and while she does help draw cards, I've found that once I start rolling, having more creatures with only 1 mana symbol keep that card draw train rolling better than ones with multiple mana symbols. While there are ones in here with multiple mana symbols, then tend to act as finishers for me which Prime Speaker Zegana just never did. Again the suggestion is appreciated!

"...smash the gas pedal down a run over your opponents..." hahaha +1 from me

A few suggestions I have are Etherium-Horn Sorcerer and Maelstrom Wanderer, which can really get the deck crankin'! If you're running out of steam, or someone tosses out a boardwipe, these guys can help get you back in the game

Also, do you not like infinite combos? Deadeye Navigator with Palinchron, Great Whale, or Peregrine Drake gives you infinite mana. Palinchron alone goes infinite with Animar and 5 blue sources (lands). Temur Sabertooth is also a beast, doing the same trick with Animar out and the three creatures that untap lands. Even if you dont like combos, I'd still run all these creatures.

Morph creatures are your friend too, as they can be cast for free once animar has three counters. Den Protector is really good, and Ainok Survivalist can get rid of crap like Torpor Orb

My deck may have some ideas for you. I've been rocking animar for ~4 years and I love it. Please check it out and tell me what you think!!! Deck Link

What about Master Biomancer? Wouldn't he fit as well? ;-)

May 23, 2017 9:01 a.m.

Punmonkey says... #23

@Woiteck - he was in a previous version of this deck, but honestly he only came in useful to me if he was in before Animar, Soul of Elements as none of the other creatures needed the counters. I appreciate the comment though!
